Manufacturer reviews · owners of this model, published on the manufacturer’s site

  • Our range was delivered a little over a week ago. While running the initial burn off of manufacturing remnants at 350 deg, we noticed the metal frame of the range (especially around the glass cooktop) was getting very hot to touch. Thought maybe it was the oven gasket seating itself so tried running it up to 450 deg the next day for 30 minutes. Infrared thermometer and FLIR camera reading from the stainless frame read close to 150 deg. Have also noticed the same problem when running the top front burners (only ones we've run) - glass and frame get extremely hot to touch beyond the actual burner area. Our original builder grade range never had these issues. Currently working through the distributor we purchased from (believe they have been talking to Kitchen Aid) and someone is finally coming today to look at it. We'll see what they and Kitchen Aid have to say. Unfortunately we've been without a working range for a week and a half at this point (you can smell the adjacent wood cabinetry getting singed when we were testing it) . Concerned over a burn or fire hazard. As a follow-up to my original post, the appliance service visit came and looked at the unit. There was no visible manufacturing defect to the oven or gaskets and lifting the cooktop lid, the heat insulation blanket appeared to be fully forward. He call Kitchen Aid Tech Support and was told unit was within spec parameters. The Kitchen Aid rep for our distributor told them the same thing - was operating as designed and there was nothing they could do. The following day, I ran the unit through the Underwriters Laboratory (UL) 858 standard for electric ranges and ovens - specifically the section on surface temperature increase limits. It involves running both ovens at 475 degrees for one hour once they reach temperature (starting surface temperature was approx. 78 degrees F). I was able to measure temperatures in excess of these limits at the various height specified in the spec (at times temps neared 200 degrees). Looking over all the glowing reviews on the site here, there is only one other one from a few years ago that mentions a similar issue. They too returned the item. Fortunately, my distributor is standing behind their sale even if Kitchen Aid won't. They are offering to return the unit and let me pick a different brand. I'm very disappointed in Kitchen aid - a brand the presents itself as premium quality. We've had Kitchen aid appliances in the past - we won't be buying from them again in the future.

  • it is now 9/1/2025 , I purchased this Kitchenaid double range (kfed500ess) or kfed500ess06 as read in the back lable and needed for part replacement back in 12/2023 21 months ago. it wasn't cheap $1900-2100? and within 6-8 months I had a top burner stove knob break. as I ordered from Home Depot I contacted and was told to come back n a week. then they never found my order. so I punched in the on the back of the knob and tried 2 different options from amazon, neither worked. fastforward to 10/2025 I now have 3 broken knobs. at $60 ea. they look heavy duty but are really just a tin clip encased in a PLASTIC SLEEVE. they are built to be replaceable, I believe. heavy metal knobs with a thin plastic base.

  • We bought this 4 months ago and the inside coating is chipping and peeling off in the oven. Kitchenaid insists this is cosmetic and normal. They want to charge $100 to have someone come out to repair. Cosmetic or not this shouldn’t be happening in only four months time. Terrible customer service for such “quality” appliances. We won’t ever buy kitchaid again.

  • Model #: KFED500ESS03; Serial #: DX3817873. It has been only 4 years and 2 of these ovens have had safety issues. I bought this item in 2019 and within a year the oven blue interior had cracked. We received a replacement oven from Whirlpool, and not even 2 years later...the other day...has developed multiple huge cracks in glass stove top. We have owned glass stove tops/oven before this one and have never had such problems. We are hoping the company will take care of these major safety issues. We are disappointed. This stove is out of warranty. We now have to buy a new stove! What will Whirlpool do for us?

  • I bought my new range in November of 2019, one of the first times I used the upper oven the porcelain popped (broke) in multiple locations. It was replaced in January of 2020. In November of 2020 the same thing happened again to the 2nd range, still waiting for the replacement. A 2nd claim has been initiated and I'm told the claim is in process. Other than this I am happy with the unit. My Husband & I and our son are all employed at Clyde Division Whirlpool. so we understand the porcelain issue and also the struggle with parts and people to get caught up with production during Covid. But with the cost of this unit we fully expect this unit to be replaced.

  • I just sent in a review and not sure it went through. This range is the WORST stove top EVER! Problems from day 1. The inside was rusted screws and Appliance store Good Deals would not replace it. A few days later the light went out. When cooking the knobs don't lock in place and the burner will actually turn off when not locked in. Kitchenaid help desk said it was designed that way!!! The knobs are all so cheap and insides have stripped - 3 of them and they want $20 each for replacement. I can't even turn the burners off. i have supplied 4 kitchens with total Kitchenaid products - I am going to buy another stove - NOT KITCHENAID.

  • Absolutely the best appliance i have ever owned! Love the double oven! We entertain frequently & I am looking forward to our next party & the pleasure of cooking everything at once regardless of the different food & required temperatures. The exterior is beautiful, I like the brushed back splash & the ease of the controls safely situated in the back The interior is gorgeous, cleans up easily with self cleaning & the time options are so sensible. Unfortunately I have a galley kitchen & I cook everyday & the heat in the kitchen previously was terrible, but with my Kitchen Aid there is no excess heat & it's so quiet, just wonderful!

  • I purchased this Double Oven Electric range November 2024. The burners on the stove top do not heat evenly. If you can only control the heat by turning the dial until it slips into a notch(don't know how else to explain it), one notch up and the heat is too high, one notch down and the heat is basically off! cant cook anything on it. I really dislike the stove top. The double oven is nice, HOWEVER, there is heat transfer between the 2 ovens. While using the upper oven and you open the lower, you can feel the heat from the upper. I am glad I got this "on sale" because I am going to get rid of it. I bought it for the double oven and that the lower oven has a pull out shelf because the lower over is REALLY LOW and you really have to bend down low to insert and take out pans - HOWEVER the lower oven pull out shelf does not have a lip on it like the other oven racks. If you pull it out too fast, your pyrex will slide off the back and fall into the oven!! know how I know that? Yup, it happened to me. I expected more from KitchenAid. Very dissapointed

    Dissapointed in Tampa09/25/2025 10:11 PM

  • 1 month old. Had to have electrician in to move wall plug due to double oven. Stove back keeps stove from fitting with small amt. of distance from wall. This looks like a replacement stove not one for the space. Also watch fingers when pulling out top oven rack. Not enough room between rack and door. Sorry I got this stove. Hope my knobs don't break like other customer.

    Honn06/16/2023 12:23 AM

  • Wish I could give this range a negative star. I am beyond disappointed. Stove top is exceptionally slow to heat. I've only had the range for 10 months and 3 knobs have broken. I have to turn my stove on with plyers. Called KitchenAid for replacement knobs and was told I would be charged $68 per knob - on a stove less than 1 year old! One of main burners (left front) has to be on high for it to heat up enough to cook, but of course it is high heat so I can only boil water on that burner. Basically, my only options are boiling-high heat or heat so low that it might melt butter. Customer service rep was nice, but really not helpful since I was sent to a 3rd party parts department to purchase $200 in knobs. The knob situation is definitely a manufacture defect - which the customer has to pay for. I wouldn't buy KitchenAid large appliances again and sorry that I bought an entire suite of KitchenAid appliances.

    Won't do it again07/14/2022 09:37 PM

  • In February of 2019 we purchased all KitchenAid appliances for our new kitchen. Just a couple weeks after receiving our Double Oven we noticed in the top oven the enamel on the bottom was chipping off into large pieces. We had only used the stove a couple of times and immediately called KitchenAid. After having a tech come out a second oven was delivered to us in May. Just our second time using the oven we had the same issue, but with larger pieces coming off. AGAIN tech came out (same guy) and couldn't believe how bad this one was. KitchenAids fix - using a blue paint marker. The enamel inside is glossy, the pen is matte and makes it look horrible. We had a 3" piece come off this time. We were told when called for the second oven we would have some options for replacing this one, however I am getting the run around from KitchenAid and VERY dissapointed in their help. Before you spend a LOT of MONEY on this Oven, look at other brands. Sorry we spent close to $10k in KitchenAid appliances.

    KatherineAZ06/18/2019 01:15 AM

  • Do yourself a favor and do NOT buy this, or ANY KitchenAid oven with the blue ceramic coating. The coating chips off and KitchenAid DOES NOT STAND BEHIND IT. They claim it to be cosmetic and not a functional part of the oven. If one of these chards end up in your food, good luck! I wouldnt want it to be me! I found one in a batch of cookies that was made. Luckily it wasnt a caserole or something of that sort that it would have disappeared into. I am trying to get KitchenAid to do the right thing and replace this oven but have not had any luck yet. 1700.00 on a 7 month old oven and its JUNK! BAD BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!

  • We remodeled our kitchen and got all whirlpool appliances. We got the whirlpool double oven and the racks were off by over a quarter inch. We had it replaced with another whirlpool and the racks were off even more in the second one. So finally we gave up on the whirlpool double oven and upgraded to a this kitchen aid. This convection double oven range is amazing. I have not really gotten to use all it has to offer but I did use the slow cook feature on some beef ribs the other day. They were the best ribs we have ever had! I can not wait to use the convection features and the dough proofing feature in the future. The racks are super heavy duty and I love the fact I can pull out the bottom rack to take out and put food in without leaning into the oven so much easier. The burners work great! Love the warmer burner and warmer oven feature too. Use it a lot. I am kind of bummed it does not have a steam clean feature like the whirlpool oven did but I will be extra careful to keep it as clean as possible without using the self clean. The kitchenAid arrived with a ton of fingerprints and smudges on it and the delivery guy told me about Sheila Shine stainless steel cleaner and conditioner. It works wonders and I even used it on my fingerprint proof dishwasher and fridge. The stuff is amazing. This cook top seems to be easier to clean than the whirlpool but it still needs extra maintenance so I purchased Bar Keepers Friend and it makes the top look brand new. So far I love this double oven and it is well worth the extra money!

    AJ202105/21/2021 09:58 PM

  • At my age I have cooked on many range/ovens & this one is the best one!! Love the different sizes of burners making it more than 5 but 8 burners & easy clean smooth top! Love the double ovens! I can have my main dinner in lower large oven at different temp & then bake up the biscuits in higher temp in small oven. Also saves energy when only using small oven. I love the proofing feature for my breads! Easy to understand the controls & large burner knobs. I cook & bake everyday & love using this range oven. The only negative is Not finger print protection & bought stainless steel cleaner w/ silicon protection. The matching dishwasher & microwave has the fingerprint protection.

  • Hello all, i was so excited when I purchased this stove, and so bitterly disappointed when it fnally arrived. As it happened, the folks at KitchenAid used the exact same model number (KFED500EWH) for two different stoves! So you can imagine my surprise disappointment when a different stove arrived, and not the one that I had ordered. Many, many phone calls and emails to KitchenAid did not get me anywhere. In the end, I just made peace with the stove that came as I needed a stove. The stove that arrived is still very nice, BUT it is not the stove that I ordered, or the one that I would have ordered. This whole mess could simply have been avoided had KitchenAid used a different model number for two different products. Why use the same model number for two different stoves (KFED500EWH). Who would in their right mind would do something like that? So buyer beware! I like the KitchenAid brand, but i cannot let myself by another KitchenAid product as I have no assurance of what the heck I would get.

    Thomaslee310/23/2024 03:56 AM

  • I bought this over a year ago. So beautiful. It does however show every bit of dust or dirt with the hood light on. I have a fireplace so it looks dusty a lot. I definitely would buy again though. It cooks amazing to. I don't own a microwave so this cooks everything I eat.

    Lea6603/07/2024 11:52 PM

  • I purchased this in early December 2024?and am loving it. The stove top gets hot very fast on high as it should, but appears to be off when on lower temps. I realized it’s not off. It’s still cooking, but the eye is not always on red. Also, you have be extra diligent to keep it clean because food does stick quickly and cake up on the stovetop. For these two reasons, I only give it four stars. We love the double oven, which worked extremely well when needing to cook on different temps for Xmas. I was able to fit 3 pies in the upper oven, while roasting veggies in the lower oven. We especially enjoy the convection feature for our crispy delights. In addition to its function, it’s a beautiful and aesthetically

  • About a month into this oven and we love it. We have Electric model and the burner layout and sizing is excellent. I needed an oven that had the knobs in the back due to my back splash, so this was perfect. The controls are easily cleaned and solid knobs are perfect. But the double oven I must say is the best. So far, we almost exclusively use the smaller top oven as we don't need a full oven for baking things like cakes, casseroles, meats, etc. Why warm up the whole oven unnecessarily? Warms up much faster and uses less energy, etc. We love the ability to bake two separate things at different temperatures and times thanks to the two separate compartments. Wonder why we didn't think of it sooner because I almost just replaced my older oven with a similar featured one. Keep in mind, though, for electric double ovens - there is no space behind the unit to hide the cord (since the second oven uses all the space). This required me to install the plug inside the back wall in order to get the oven to fit more snugly against the wall. Call me type A, but I need my oven sitting as flush as possible to the wall. The design doesn't permit it to sit flush, so I actually built a a small knock-out lip and tiled it so when I push it back it sits flush against the knock out false wall. Looks awesome.

  • Our new KitchenAid double oven & range appliance is wonderful. I love having the smaller oven that heats up quickly, and I appreciate the convection in the standard size, lower oven. The range top has “minimalist” markings for the burners. The front, left burner with 3 sizes is great for any size pan. The warming burner is a nice addition to my cooking choices. I chose a model with knobs in the back where kids can’t reach them and short people can’t accidentally lean on them. The one compromise is that there is no “warming drawer” which I always used for lids. I’m still working out how to store pan lids, but it’s definitely a worth-while trade off for the double oven.

    TeacherFirstClass05/27/2024 09:41 AM

  • I bought one from Lowe’s, waited six months for delivery and today 18 months after installation the control board is out of whack according to repair man. The Lowe’s delivery folks put a 4 foot scratch in my wood floors and it took four months to get reimbursed. Paid big bucks $2,200 + for junk. The last few months the lower oven temperature was consistently lower than the set temperature. One of the top burners had one coil that would barely heat up and the small upper oven over-heated for the first 10-15 minutes, just enough to overcook cookies. To top it off the repairman said a replacement control board is no longer available. DON’T BUY ONE!

    Concerned Colonel02/23/2024 05:49 AM

  • I agree with all of the 2 star rating reviews. This electric stove has been aggravating from the start. I originally thought it was me. When you turn a burner on, if it comes on, you can't adjust it or it will turn off and stop cooking. I've pushed hard, I've pushed soft, I've even turned all the way off and back on with same results. Now I can barely get it to turn on before it shuts right back off. I have a black/stainless steel one and the edge scratched up almost immediately. I'm not even sure how since I don't slide the pan across that area at all. So far, I haven't had the issues with the ovens like others, but I only use the top one once a week for homemade pizza and the bottom one a year for Thanksgiving. I'm not really happy my oven is basically sitting on the floor.

    Judyh881804/15/2025 09:41 PM

  • I purchased this stove at the end of September and two weeks later, one of the stove knobs (first one on the left) broke. When I called my local distributor, where I bought it, they asked me to call KitchenAid. When I called KitchenAid, they told me that the knob was not included in the warranty, since it was not a malfunction of the equipment. I ordered the knob, which cost almost $50 (and it took 45 days to arrive). I replaced the knob (the first one on the left). Last week the second knob also broke. I can’t believe that two knobs broke in less than three months of use of this stove. I have tried to glue them, but it didn’t work, so I am going to have to spend another $50 to replace the second knob, which now adds up to $100. If I have to replace the knobs every couple of months, in a couple of years, I will end up paying more in parts than replacing the whole stove and getting another one (of course, from another brand!!!!). Terrible customer service, as no option as a new customer, was offered to me.

    sonial202012/23/2020 05:12 PM

  • Purchased about a month ago. We have used both ovens and all the burners. Also have used the convection feature. My husband used the proofer for his pizza dough and it worked great. So far no issues. Took some getting used to with the temp settings for the stovetop. Heats up quick and holds heat for a long time. Cleanup is easy except for the top but I have been able to keep it looking nice so far. I was worried about fitting large items in the bottom oven but so far that has not been an issue. I cooked 2 corned beefs in 6 quart dutch ovens side by side for St Pattys day. It is beautiful has great features and works great! My friends and my mom now have stove envy.

  • I bought this range in white in November. I must preface this by saying I have had three ranges previously with the ceramic cooktops and have loved them. I moved and left them in perfect condition. I used this one for the first time and it left an unusual mark on two burners that I could not clean. I only sautéed chicken and vegetables. I used the recommended Affresh system. At the end of my patience I called for service in December. The woman said first we will try cleaning it again and she would send a kit. The kit never arrived. I waited since it was Christmas time. Still never came. I called for service. They came out and they couldn't clean it either. They said it is in the glass. I am very frustrated. I should never have upgraded to the kitchenaid. I am very happy with the overall stove but paid too much to have a defective glass that they will not replace. Supervisors say they will call me back and don't . They call it cosmetic - I say defective at $2500 with tax and extended warranty!!!! I think they are refusing to repair it because this is happening to more than just me!
