  • We were cooking, as usual, we always are in love with our KitchenAid KFGD500ESS because of her practicality and capacity. But on these past Friday 27 of September, our KitchenAid KFGD500ESS burn inside out below the stainless steel plate. This fire was rare because we feel the stove very hot for a few minutes but we never realize that the stove was burning in the inside, we finally realized that it was burning in the inside when it exploded in our faces. We are so frustrated and nervous about this fire and explosion. Edgar M.

  • The build quality is subpar, panels are out of alignment, top oven door is offset, knobs are not centered within the bezel, and the cook surface is to small for normal sized pans. A 12" pan used on the front bruner makes the rear burner unusable. The top oven door doesn't lineup with the bottom oven door. The top oven also cooks very uneven. The bottom oven takes a long time to heat up and works as well as the 10 year old $350 unit it replaced.

  • I purchased the double oven to go with my fridge and dishwasher. The overall product is finally here, and fantastic, however the quality control in KitchenAid's shipping department seems to be lacking. The first range I received had a large crease in the side. The shipping package was not damaged, which leads me to believe KitchenAid packaged it this way. I talked with my store and they ordered a replacement. The second stove arrived with the back dented. Again this appears to have been packaged with the dents, not shipping damage. I'm a huge KitchenAid fan but this is very frustrating.

  • We had scratches, too, on the chrome plating after only five months, What is worse, the blue ceramic liner is starting to shred and flake off after the first time we used the autoclean function. What if some pieces had wound up in a casserole? What if there's a fire hazard, given the compromise to the liner (not to mention what more may follow in the weeks or months ahead?) My wife and I are very unhappy and upset with this product after spending more than $2K for it at a well known home improvement store. We want KitchenAid to replace this with a new unit before something worse happens. And hopefully the new unit will hold together more than this one.

  • We bought this about a month ago and have been using it to its full capacity. My wife is an excellent chef and she has baked pies, cookies and a myriad of other succulent delights with this amazing gas range. She also has been using the griddle to create amazing pancakes and french toast. The convection oven is perfect and quite quiet compared to the oven we ended up replacing. The oven is also aesthetically gorgeous and sophisticated. It really is a delightful addition to our kitchen and we are looking forward to many scrumptious meals that will be created with this wonderful Kitchen aid Gas Oven. We would highly recommend this oven to anyone needing to purchase a new range.

  • Out of the box, all screws for the rear cover were loose, the panel was bowed out and right side top panel was detached!!! A $2,200 oven!!! Why? Who checks these things?

    Gus298808/26/2025 04:27 AM

  • As much as I have always loved KitchenAid products, this product is a big disappointment to me. Not only are the grates scratching my pots and pans, they are scratching the stove top itself. I love the double oven, but I would never recommend this to anyone. Why buy something that is going to ruin itself and your cookware. I've only been using it a little over a month and look at the damage it's already done!

    antsand7311/14/2019 09:30 PM

  • I bought my stove about 4 1/2 years ago. Overall, I am very pleased with the product except about a year ago the foil on the knobs started coming apart. After cutting my finger on the knobs, I used some clear tape to wrap around the knobs. That worked for a while, but then the case around the knobs come away from the stove front. I have tried looking for replacement knobs and base, but is having difficulty finding the one for model KFGD500EBS00, serial DA4810291. I can't even find a number to call customer services for some help finding the parts. The stove is great, and what I wanted, but the only time I should be cutting my fingers during cooking, is when I am using a knife, not on the knob of the stove. Any information I can get to replace the knobs would be greatly appreciated!

  • This is such an amazing product in so many ways! ❤️ Best purchase ever!

    Ddupree10/21/2021 12:53 AM

  • 1. The stove itself functions beautifully for us. It has its issues. Not perfect but, 100% usable and functional. -We have it in white, the stove top itself is hard to get clean but the finish has remained solid. -The top oven's grate is hard to pull out bc of its closeness to the opened door. -The lower oven takes a LONG time to heat up but, the upper oven makes up for that annoyance with how fast it can preheat. 2. We waited for 6-9 months to get this after paying for it. The people complaining about a couple weeks have obviously never been inconvenienced by more than a hangnail in their lives. Unless you're going to the big box store and they have it in the storeroom, you're going to wait. 3. My GRIPE!: There are people reviewing for YEARS on here about the ridiculous PLASTIC tape knobs warping, peeling, and getting sharp. FIX THEM! I am struggling to not use expletives to fully explain my feelings on this. They are SHARP. My (well old enough) kids are no longer allowed to use the stove because about time one of them ends up with the cuts I have experienced due to these knobs I'll be going to media and seeking legal advice. WHY are knobs above double ovens WRAPPED in PLASTIC!!? And not only plastic but, a tape-like material that's shrinkwrapped around what appears to be a better quality material. I'll BUY a set of solid knobs. Just make the things! GAHH! 4. Secondary gripe: The "bezels". (FYI When you call to complain about those falling off your stove....That's the name for the decorative part behind the knob that is stuck to the stove front with double sided tape.) Double. Sided. Tape.... Above the ovens on your stove. These are also wrapped in plastic and are warping. But, these are falling off the stove and aren't necessary to the functionality so, I'll just go without when they all finally bite the dust. I mean... why use bolts or screws or .... anything other than tape and glue on a stove that you might occasionally use a degreaser on. LOL 5. The appliance store we bought this from is trying to making it right for us. They ordered us another set of knobs and have been so kind and helpful. The knobs came in and they feel lighter and more flimsy than the originals. We'll see if they are better about the warping but, they appear to be made the same way just with thinner materials. Not pleased with Kitchenaid.

  • What can I say other than I am extremely disappointed in this appliance. I replaced a 20 year old Maytag Gemini. This new KitchenAid doesn’t even compare. Firstly, the build quality is much cheaper than I expected from KitchenAid. The metal is thinner. The doors are thinner. The fit and finishes poor that is directly related to what I perceive as poor quality control, the top panel of the stove doesn’t line up with the right hand vertical side panel. The double oven doors from the side, they also don’t lineup purchased through a local big box store. Waited a month for it to get here. Took me a couple days to unpack it and get it set up and now it’s too late to return it , otherwise I would purchase something else perhaps just is the way things are now. I’m not happy with the range I got for the money I spent.

    Jiguere11/05/2024 12:28 AM

  • After only 2 years the foil on the knobs has peeled so severely that I have seriously sliced open my fingers on multiple occasions. After informing the company of this safety issue their response was just to buy new knobs at $$$$ a piece! I had expected a better quality item from this brand.

    hnsc02/09/2024 06:38 AM

  • I am unhappy with my kitchenaid. I always wanted a kitchenaid stove I was so excited when i finally got one, then the disappointment started. I paid for delivery and professional install. they installed my oven way too low and its burning my counters. (my counters are NOT taller then usual) straight away I noticed the food started off great cooking but then it would just stop. when i would check the temp of the oven display would say the proper temp but when I re enter the desired temp the display reads 290degrees f (or lower) and preheating. this occured often. I called the repairman. he didnt seem to believe me and kept insisting it was the oven cycling the oven doesnt drop to 240-290 before kicking back on to cycle to 450f and it seems to happen only when i use my oven for a long period of time;like a braise, cheesecake or cookie baking day. the repairman replaced the computer part of my oven ( he made it clear he didnt believe me and said if this doesnt fix it i dont know ). this did not fix the issue. my oven also turns itself off now. despite having a good strong stove hood that vents outside. the large cast iron grates seem to scratch the finish of the stove no matter how slow or careful you remove them. the broiler is so small that the food sits right up on it even with the rack on the lowest setting ( the broiler is in the top tiny oven) it takes a long time and there isn't enough room to move around the sheet pan to get an even brown and it is too close to the element. Ive been cooking for 30 years and I really miss the 1990 whirlpool stove that this kitchenaid replaced. im pretty sure the stove i got is a lemon. but i guess its my lemon now. my oven cooked food turns out inconsistent and Late due to temp fluctuations. I take it personally when recipes i cook for years and years turn out like garbage. I've had this stove for 10 months and am disappointed and fully regretting my expensive decision. ive never had such a poor experience with a kitchenaid.

    thelovelycleo12/31/2021 08:25 PM

  • My stove was delivered and installed last on 12/8/2015. I was so excited. BUT, the installer pointed out two issues: 1. The grates aren't even so sliding a pot from left to right or vice verse may cause a tipover/spillover of pot contents and therefore a huge mess. 2. On initial firing up of the front right burner some grate material flamed off leaving leaving a very visible imperfection. I haven't used the stove top burners yet but will update if I find additional issues.

    Jagjean12/15/2015 06:00 AM

  • We have had our stove for over a year now. Baking pizza is my hobby. I use the top oven, heat to 500 then turn on the broiler. I have a baking steel that just lives in there. 2.5 minutes then turn it, 1.5 minutes then turn off the heat. I let it sit for about another minute and it's the best pizza ever. I've had none of the problems in the 1 star reviews. My first rolling rack had to be replaced right off the bat but that's it. I purchased a grill that I use often in place of the griddle. Works amazing. I have zero complaints with my stove. Love the color (impossible to find anymore), love the look, love the functionality. I would buy again.

    PFrasca01/31/2021 06:26 AM

  • I bake from my home and was very excited about this oven and being able to bake at two different temperatures at the same time. I have been severely let down. If both ovens are being used, the bottom oven temperature is almost always 100 degrees hotter than it should be. I have an air probe thermometer to verify this and get a live reading. This oven has cost me a lot of money in baked goods being unsellable. To add to that the lower when being used alone loses heat so quickly and it doesn't reheat in a timely manner, which under-bakes my baked goods. I have had a service person out to see it three times and have been told that this is just how the oven works and they can't fix anything as it isn't broken. What a waste of money. I would like to Return the oven. p.s. I do NOT have a Facebook or twitter.

    CameoE12/06/2022 01:13 AM

  • I bought this a couple of months ago and overall I am very happy with it. There is one problem however the top oven rack when on the bottom rail drags on the oven door. I reported this and although they sent new hinges this did not fix the problem. I looked at another one that was in stock and it had the same problem, so this is a design flaw and makes it difficult to take things out as there is really no easy way to pull the rack out. You cannot lift it high enough between the rails to compensate for this problem. I looked for other double oven ranges, but none were built with the quality of this range and I do like the double oven feature because you can do small items without heating up the whole house the way a full oven does. I do also like the fact that the bottom oven has a rack that slides completely out of the oven so you are not bending over a hot oven door and none of the others I looked at had this feature, so, bottom line I decided to keep it and deal with this issue. Hopefully in the future they will find a way to fix this one design flaw.

    aj-w01/28/2019 04:16 AM

  • Does not seem to get as hot as previous stove. The griddle will not get hot enough to develop a crust on hamburgers. They just cook grey. it will boil water but not to a really rolling boil. The oven temps get to the indicated temperature but have to add time to cook my recipes to the same degree of doneness. This is a double oven range but only has one timer. There should be a timer for each oven. When the timer hits zero, it gives one beep and will beep one time in another minute. Then to stop it you have to touch the timer button twice. It needs to have a distinctive several note tone for 5 seconds that repats every 10 to 15 seconds

    ScottB385509/05/2025 10:12 AM

  • Originally thought that I would love this beautiful functional range. Prior to a year of use the coded burner selectors have "rubbed off" (see photos). I have been very careful to only use cleaner specifically for stainless steel ranges. the middle griddle does not get warm enough to cook grilled cheese, since this failure, it is useless, and not used. And the burners are inconsistent with heat output. It is very inconvenient lifting the range too to clean, and i find it impossible to locate the "grease catchers" used on basic ranges that fit this range cooktop, and ovens, I basically use only one burner, as the other three do not get warm enough, does not explain why the coded burner selectors have disappeared. Pretty disappointed as I was hoping for a better quality range, like my matching kitchinaid 3 door refrigerator, the handles are loose,

    Capz02/28/2017 06:00 AM

  • I could not have made a better choice. Firstly the range is just beautiful. The grates on the top are very sturdy and do not move even with a very large pasta pot on top. There is also no slipping because the grates have a rough coating on them. The oval centerpiece burner is perfect for longer dishes.I was amazed at how much faster the water boils. The upper and lower oven is so convenient. When I need to bake something smaller like brownies or lasagne, I use the upper oven. Its great to use both together when making multiple dishes. The preheating function is super fast. The range is so easy to use. No studying of the instructions necessary. Basic and simple, no mess no fuss. I am extremely busy and do not have time to waste. This range fits perfectly into my lifestyle and is stress free to operate. The display is large and easy to read. Upon opening the upper or lower oven you are surprised by the beautiful blue interior. Overall a great range. The only negative I have is that the timer is very quiet and if I am upstairs it is hard to hear If you are looking for a beautiful yet functional and easy to use range, look no further. Best appliance in my kitchen right now!!!!

    Renvs09/01/2017 01:00 PM

  • I have been using this stove for five years. While new, it may look like an attractive stove, but that look won't last. The knobs are metal; however, the markings on the knobs are plastic and they MELT. The bezels for the knobs are entirely plastic and they melt too. Cost for new knobs? About $35.00. Cost for the knob bezels (trim rings)? About $40.00 + for five. Total to replace the ugly melted knobs and bezels = $190.00, plus shipping. There's more. To fasten the burner heads to the stove top, KitchenAid uses plain metal cheap, weak screws. They RUST and break. I could not extract the screws to remove the burner heads for cleaning; they twisted right off, leaving the shaft of the screws in the assembly that tightens up to the burner head. That part is UNDER the stove top, which means you must remove the stove top to somehow remove the sheared-off screws. Wait, there's more. The small top oven heats fairly quickly to 350 degrees. The larger bottom oven? Takes forever (about 30 minutes). Honestly, I have lovingly cared for this stove and CAREFULLY avoid any abrasive cleaners while polishing the top regularly. I really thought I had found a quality stainless steel gas stove. This stove is awful.

    JonC5409/08/2021 03:20 AM

  • I bought this a month ago and am having an issue with the top oven. I believe it is a poorly executed design. When you put the rack in the bottom position of the top oven, the rack drags on the oven door, thus making it all but impossible to pull out. You have to grasp the rack by each corner to extend it fully. The other issue is the top oven is the only one that broils so you cannot brown a ham, turkey or something large in it using the broiler. There is room in the top oven for pies, cakes or small casserole, which is very handy when you don't want to heat up the whole house. I like that the bottom rack in the bottom oven extends fully to give you complete access to something big without having to lean over the door to pick it up. Other units I looked at do not have this feature. Overall, KitchenAid sent a technician out to work on the upper door problem, however, I looked at the same model in another store and it had the exact same issue, so I am guessing this will be a design flaw and I will have to determine if it is something I can live with or return it and get something else. Overall the stove seems well built and nicely finished, unlike other brands I have looked at. So far KitchenAid response has been excellent. Hopefully they can remedy this problem. The hinges do not appear to be bent, even though the door does not fully extend to the flat position and there is no hinge adjustment.

  • One year later-follow up review I still absolutely love this range! And have had absolutely no issues other than a minor adjustment with the back simmer burners. They were adjusted too low on the setting and would go out. Regarding the easy glide rack not having a back stop, my sweetie was able to manufacture a nice fix for it. See pictures. I still haven't tried the convection oven, so no thoughts there. The double oven feature is still the best selling point in my mind. For two people the top of it is just perfect for 90% of my cooking. Unlike my old stove, this one is nicely insulated and does not heat the kitchen up, nor can you hear the gas cycling on off. Suggestions for improvement: for me it would be nicer to have a more pronounced visual indication that the oven is on. A heavier grade of stainless steel for the top should have been used , as it definitely scratches way too easily

    yogi06/18/2016 05:00 AM

  • At first I would just catch myself starring at this double oven stove. It is so easy to use like having a smart stove oven, you push a button and it tells you what to do next. Very roomy, very easy to clean, the grill in the middle is great. Looks very expensive built great, easy to install. You can cook your whole meal at once between two ovens 5 burners, everything’s right at your finger tips. I love my stove! Preheat shows you the temperature going where you have selected. Everything cooks even no hot cold spots.
