I’ve owned KitchenAid appliances in my homes for the past 25 years, and this refrigerator is by far the biggest disappointment I’ve experienced. Quite frankly, this feels like a $1,000 fridge with a KitchenAid sticker slapped on it—literally. The absence of real badging, replaced by a sticker, sets the tone for the rest of the product. The build quality is poor, and the functionality is even worse. The drawers are cheap and don’t glide properly, the doors are misaligned, and visible spray foam along the edges makes it look unfinished. The ice maker works, but opening the freezer causes ice to spill down the back and collect under the drawer—forcing me to clean it up constantly to avoid damaging my floors. It’s hard to believe anyone in Whirlpool leadership actually uses this product. If Whirlpool called today and offered a refund, I would gladly have it removed. I live in St. Joseph, MI—not far from the HQ—and would genuinely welcome someone from your leadership team to come see what’s being sold under the KitchenAid name. The advertising may look great, but the reality does not match. After years of loyalty, this experience has me seriously considering switching to another brand.

After installation and I actually stepped back, noticed French doors not aligned vertically and the left door sensor failed so no water or light unless both doors open. Technician diagnosed sensor issue but no parts available. Unable to adjust door and we wait for parts. Brilliant.

I love this refrigerator. The color is amazing. It’s not a hard dark matte black. It’s a beautiful shade of black. I didn’t get to see the color in person (no one had it available to see). I love the roll out shelf, the wood trim makes it so elegant. The water dispenser is nicely placed on the side out of the way. The only 2 little negatives are, the shelves don’t fold down if you have a tall or large container. Secondly, the motor is a little of a loud hum. But I am so happy with it, neither of those two things bother me. Have only had it 3 weeks but definitely recommend this product. Getting the rest of the matching appliances tomorrow.

This refrigerator is nicely designed, ample interior space, and great design touches. However, a water leak within days of installation has me second guessing my purchase!

I brought this a month ago, so far good fridge, stylish and work perfectly

The refridgerator has been in operation since Jan 13, 2026. on February 24, open the ice bin, the ice maker tray had dropped into the ice bin and a sensor was hanging from above. The Ice maker function was inoperative. I reported in to the store I purchased it from, they directed me to talk with kitchen aid as it is under warranty. Reported to kitchenAid on March 3. A service co scheduled to service it on March 17. Received a text on march 16, they can't do March 17 and rescheduled me for March 25th. now all that said, I've had the machine for 65 days, for 40-41 of those days, I had a ice maker inside the refridgerator that worked. Essentially 35% of my ownership time, a major component has not worked. So other then that, no significant complaints.

I am so happy with our fridge. My family and I love that it is so roomy and looks so fancy. The food seems to last fresh for longer than our old fridge. So far it's been about a month but we are very pleased

Lowe’s delivered our fridge set it up and left. a couple hours later we noticed it was not cooling. Called Lowe’s, they made us call Kitchen Aid. Kitchen Aid had us call Warranty company. A week later warranty tech comes out and can’t fix it. Must order parts not in stock. Called Lowe’s, they told us can’t help us because we didn’t request a replacement within the first 48 hrs. We were never offered this option. Now waiting for parts. New fridge, but does not work. Very, very disappointed in how distributor and manufacturer handle this issues. Won’t buy from either moving forward.
Bad experience all around02/24/2026 05:14 AM
A little over a month old and the icemaker completely stopped working! Went into Sabath mode and would not come out of Sabath mode! Entire refrigerator turned off. Could not get it to work Kitchen had three different repair men come out to try and fix it. They did not have a repair manual they could use! Then when the third guy ordered a new ice maker they said the part was on backorder. I’ve now had the refrigerator for a little over two months with no icemaker and it continues to go in and out of Sabbath mode! Why in the world does it have a sabbath mode? If you don’t want refrigeration on the Sabbath why can’t you turn it off yourself? Very, very, very disappointed in this refrigerator.
Refrigerator unhappy03/14/2026 07:24 AM
Refrigerator was bought in October. Although the ice maker works fine, there is an issue with it filling up the ice bin a little too high. When we open the bottom freezer to get ice, ice is pushed out the back of the bin and falls to the floor area of the freezer. We have to open the freezer door completely and reach in to remove the overflow ice. The ice maker was replaced in kind but it still is experiencing the same problem. I have notified the certified appliance repair dealer. Hopefully they will follow up with the engineering group with Whirlpool. Also a replacement right side door is on order. Our refrigerator has a small ding on the lower portion.

I purchased this a couple weeks ago. Very sorry I did. Drawers do not all work smoothly. Pulled the freezer drawer out to check on the ice and I watched some fall back, but where does it go? You can’t reach back there, I guess time will tell. One evening my wife opened the refrigerator door and no lights. I called kitchenaid and of course no after hours. So I looked on line and the useless manual. So the refrigerator went into Sabbath mode. To do that you have to push a button on the inside of the door and holds for 3 seconds. So not like you could do this by mistake. So why did it go into that mode. Worse will it do it again. Still don’t know how to adjust the temperature. If I could go back I would not have purchased this refrigerator.

We have owned the unit for over a month, and we really like how it looks. It is quite flexible regarding how the shelves can adjusted. A few issues have occurred: The internal water dispenser continuously dripped water from day one. We followed the instructions in the owner's manual (collect 3 gallons, while cycling 5 sec on and off). This stopped the leaking. We also had an issue with the lower deli drawer. If heavier items are placed at the back of the drawer, it will fall off the track and get jammed. By moving the heavier items to the front, the problem went away. However, this is a frustrating design flaw.

I bought this refrigerator with high expectations from Kitchenaid appliances. However, I am very disappointed! Within four months of its delivery, it stopped working. We have jow been without a working refrigerator for almost two months without any resolution in sight. Dealing with Whirlpool customer service has been a nightmare to say the least. After multiple calls, they tell me they cannot find the parts to repair it, and each time they tell me they are waituling for an additional part. I have lost over $600 in groceries and my floor is now water-damaged. I have asked for the defective refrigerator to be replaced, but they refuse to do so. This is not what I expected from a high-end KitchenAid appliance.

For perspective, we have been using a 17 CU refrigerator since we moved into our house in 2020. Our old refrigerator was the standard refrigerator on bottom and freezer on top. It was in a very awkward location in our house and the door didn’t open fully which meant we couldn’t use both the bottom drawers. It was something that drove me really crazy. I looked quite a bit before purchasing this fridge. Because we had to change the location in a small kitchen, we wanted something with French doors to limit how much swings out. And because I’m lazy, I wanted the refrigerator on the top and freezer on the bottom. I absolutely love the arrangement on this fridge. It feels roomy. Offers excellent organization. I wasn’t sure about the pull out shelf (in photos there’s charcuterie—that’s def not a daily staple for us), but it fit eggs and yogurts conveniently. I was impressed the door could hold two two gallons of milk on a shelf. We did lose space in the freezer, but we have additional freezer storage in our basement so that was less of a concern. During the holidays, I was able to fit baking sheets in to chill items prior to baking. <3 Someone on another site mentioned this fridge is loud. It does have a specific “hum” when getting down to temperature. It’s not a constant, but I can hear it when it’s on. That said, overall this was such a significant upgrade for us and we absolutely love it.

I really regret buying this refrigerator. The ice maker is ridiculously loud, and then it stopped working less than 60 days in. The audible door ajar alarm stopped working too. The freezer drawer ices over. The back top shelf of the fridge freezes food (@ 38 degrees and no the freezer is not overloaded). The service call for the ice maker was on 2/26. It is 3/30 and I do not have an ETA on when this will be fixed. I've called multiple times, it's been "escalated" whatever that means but nobody can tell me when I can expect to have this fixed.

Purchased from Best Buy October 20th 2025, installation 7 days later. Installers missed that one of the front foot levels was missing, and didn't level the fridge at all, and that is on Best Buy and their third party installer. The sliding gap closer between the French doors does not engage with the guide at the top of the fridge because it is so out of level, so there is a gap of cold air that is coming through between the two doors. In addition, the simplified ice maker that we got, which is just a simple ice maker in the freezer, no in the front fridge door ice or water, is malfunctioning right off the bat. It fills the container, then the sensor doesn't detect that it's completely full, it makes too much ice and then as you pull out the bottom freezer drawer it scrapes all the excess ice cubes onto the bottom of the freezer and therefore onto the floor. Waiting on an exchange through Best Buy. Thank God we have the Best Buy total membership - when I called KitchenAid, Whirlpool that is, they only offered to repair and for a refrigerator that cost over $2,000, I don't want an after assembly repair done in my home on the one component that breaks down the most, which is the ice maker. KitchenAid / Whirlpool only offered repair, whereas Best Buy offered a complete exchange. Once received December 1st, I will update this review if things go smoothly with that one. I am sad to say that I have a co-worker who let me know their experience with all of their KitchenAid products, and I am now very fearful of what is to come in the future with this rather expensive refrigerator.

This refrigerator has a beautiful exterior and interior- although the interior is not designed for maximum use. The temperature controlled drawer does not stay on rollers I ended up removing it - constantly locking up. The odd pull out tray in center also uses up valuable shelf space and not really functional. the freezer drawer makes terrible noise every opening and very small size. the “pizza” slot is waste of space precious freezer space that can’t be used Crisper drawers are flimsy and small I miss my old refrigerator!

I was very excited when I purchased this refrigerator. I researched and thought I made the correct choice. I was wrong. Victim of poor design and faulty equipment. 1 day - defective ice maker. Call the warranty office. Very nice, polite, understanding people. They put me in contact with a local repair company. Horrible scheduling, unreliable technicians and my brand new refrigerator is still not fixed ! Avoid this brand. It's not worth the headache.
Disappointed Derek02/25/2026 05:20 AM
I'm thrilled with my new fridge. It's easy to organize my perishables and the counter depth means I don't have to "dig" to find things that I'm looking for. BUT... there are no instructions how to adjust the temp in the fridge or freezer, other than touching the icon on the door (which I bump on a regular basis). If I touch the fridge button, it only RAISES the temp and there are no instructions on how to lower it. I would appreciate any updates to the "quick start" that will help me maintain my temp settings. I've touched the LOCK for 3 seconds, but it doesn't lock, so I'm out here on a limb.

Bought new from Best Buy in Loveland, Colorado. Delivered Monday 09 March, 2026. COMPLETELY FAILED AFTER 12 HOURS OF OPERATION....... 1) Never got the RO'ed water to produce. Nothing but a rattling sound when requested by depressing a cup against the water release. I checked the presence of water to the connection. It was good with water. None from the frig. 2) Never cooled the frig after 12-hours. 3) Things in the freezer melted. DO NOT BUY!! I'm Dave with a physics degree. Worked in defense and offered to go to the Moon as an astronaut. We are returning this and will never buy Kitchenaid again!!! I'm of German heritage and know excellence. All our other Kitchen appliances are Bosch. All those have been without any problems for 12 years since the house was built. In spite of price, we are replacing your, Kitchenaid with Bosch. We bought this about a month ago and absolutely love the color and the overall look in our new kitchen. However the quality is disappointing. We’ve owned a KitchenAid in the past and that’s why we chose another one for our new kitchen. The deli drawer especially is frustrating. It often shifts and comes off the track. We also already have a service call in for someone to come and fix the water dispenser. When flushing down the first time, it simply stopped working. Not what we expected from KitchenAid.
johnandronnet03/12/2026 04:42 AM
Our fridge arrived and looked great, we were initially very happy with our new refrigerator. Unfortunately, within a few weeks the water dispenser stopped and soon after the ice machine stopped making ice and simply poured water into the ice drawer. We reported the issues first to Home Depot and then through the warranty department. After several weeks from reporting, a Service Technician came out, and ordered several parts, most of them are not in stock. We’ve now been nearly two months waiting for a repair and living without a working ice maker or water dispenser. I’ve called Kitchen Aid/Whirlepool and they offered no solutions, other than to wait for parts to arrive. No timelines or excuses were offered and currently we are now at nearly 4 months of no solutions on a brand new fridge. I recommend finding a different fridge, choosing a company who cares about quality and customer service.
Matt M - FL03/02/2026 06:12 AM
I really like this refrigerator — it has a great design, runs quietly, and responds quickly. It works very well overall. However, the user manual is surprisingly poor. It’s hard to believe that in an era of detailed electronic PDF documentation, KitchenAid (Whirlpool) still provides a generic manual that covers many different models. For a new user, it becomes difficult to know which sections actually apply to your specific refrigerator. A good example is the WiFi feature. After spending a lot of time reading the manual and trying to set up the connection, you eventually discover that your model doesn’t support WiFi at all. Clearer, model‑specific documentation would make the experience much better.

I got it from Costco a month ago. I don’t think it ever shuts off.. it sounds like it’s always running. the ice box gets to full. It’s Hard to open.
