• I purchased this Whirlpool 30" Gas Cooktop approximately six months ago. I am a former Country Club Chef. After using this gas cooktop for a brief period of time, I found it to be very dangerous of you are cooking a liquid substance in a sauce pan with a diameter less than eight inches on the four exterior burners. The pan or pot could accidently tilt and spill over onto the cooktop causing severe burns to the person. The cross sections of the four exterior grates are factually to short. The two top grates need to be re-fabricated with larger cross sections over each burner that will hold small pots more safely. That is my opinion. I have been cooking for over fifty-nine years.

• This was the dream cooktop I had ordered for my new home. Upon using it and seeing the various features I am not disappointed. The burners are spread out so most larger sized pots and pans do not crowd each other while cooking. The distribution of heat is even and immediate. I really appreciate the smaller simmer burner in the left back corner. The grate is stylish, substantial and easy to clean. For form and function 5 stars. I took 1 star away for ease of cleanup. The stainless surface around the burners looks amazing when clean and shiny...it's getting it there that is all the work. I feel it harder than normal to keep spotless after cooking. I ordered an aftermarket custom drip pad that covers the stainless and is easy to clean. Overall, I highly recommend this Gas Cooktop.

• The range came with the brand new house. The dials turn too easily, and it makes it hard to clean them. The lift up grates are nice, that does make it easy to clean.

• I have noticed in spite of the bench being level the grate is not because the oil or fat tends to accumulate at tha front of the pan … so the garage is obviously sloped towards the front …. How is this rectified cause it is a nuisance when using the stove

• It was the cooktop that came with my new home. There are a number of scratch marks on it and I will be filing a warranty claim. I also wish it had a griddle attachment for I had one in my last home. Otherwise, the cooktop will be a pleasure to cook on.

• Although I love the cooktop, the knobs feel cheap. The build is seems adequate, grilles are very commercial which gives it an upscale feel. The knobs should’ve been black but over all a great buy.

• We had this cooktop installed in our new kitchen in April 2025, and within a month or two, the coating on the grates is coming off. They are not cast iron and look like we've had them for decades - ugly. Then I spent two full days trying to get a hold of anyone to get them replaced. Finally got someone after I had the Home Depot Customer Service call them and supposedly new grates are coming. I have a ref # but no tracking number, so I guess we will get them. In addition, there is only 1 burner that actually simmers, which can be a pain.

• This review is not only of the cooktop, but of the customer service that I have not received from the whirlpool company. We purchased this in February 2025 and had it installed in April. It is now October 21 and most of the cast-iron coating has come off of the grates. I tried to call and was on hold for an hour, I tried to private message or chat and have been on hold with that for 30 minutes. I'm still in a warranty and yet I can't get anybody to actually address the issue.

• Everything works perfectly. The grate hinges are a little off angle. I think the biggest thing to consider is the spacing of the burners from front to rear; It is only 8”. The spacing on my previous stove was 9 1/2”. So if you have two pot that are bigger than 8” front to back you can’t align them with the burners. Also if you have a very small pot, you only have a small cross to set it on. On the plus side, it’s very easy to clean and I like the larger burners for my bit pans.

• It was installed using a dryer propane line and took an hour and a half to get water to a slow boil. I had the line replaced and now there is no simmer, everything is HIGH. It's hard to keep clean. I'm going to get it replaced it with something better. I hate it. I also have a Whirlpool double oven and the top oven has wild swings in temperature. Had service people out 5 times and there is still a 50 degree swing and they still won't replace the crappy oven. Been going through this for 3 months since I bought the brand new house with brand new Whirlpool appliances. Whirlpool service absolutely sucks. I would NEVER buy anything from Whirlpool again.

• So our four year old "top of the line" other brand literally imploded on us spontaneously! Thank goodness we were home. We weren't even using it, I just happen to be standing in the kitchen when we heard it try and start a burner like I was trying to turn it on, but wasn't! Crazy! In any case, it imploded (caught fire within itself and put itself out). Grateful we were home! WOW! Anyway, we had to buy a new one, and this one was only four years old! There was no way we were gong to buy the same brand, even though, all of our other appliances are that "top of the line" brand. We took a chance and bought this Gas Cooktop and not only do we love it, but it's WAAAAAAAYYYYY better than what we had before, easier to use, easier to clean and we absolutely love it. HIGHLY recommend and hopefully you don't have to because your previous gas top imploded, you just want an upgrade or something new!

• I love the cooktop but the black grates already look worn and I've had it less than 2 months, it looks like the paint is chipping off, if it's from the pans I don't think it should chip off that easy

• This cooktop came with our new home. The burner grates are too high-it takes forever to boil water! Also the little T in the middle of the grate makes it difficult/unsafe to use a small pan as there is not enough surface and the pan can tilt. The knobs are plastic-I cannot find stainless replacements. There is no light on the knob. The lifting grates do help with cleaning, although the cooktop always is a mess after cooking. I plan on replacing

• I really love the ez lift grates for cleaning & the depth below them so that any spills are contained. I chose the black rather than black stainless steel so that it doesn't scratch as easy. I also love how the lines on the grates line up so that I can slide pots & pans around easy. Only complaint is that when you turn a burner on its in the "high" position, I wish it started "low" and then I'd move it up.

• The cooktop itself is fine. My only complaint is that the front right burner, when used on high melts the knob closest to it. Why in earth whirlpool chose to use a cheap plastic and engineer it so close to the burner is beyond me. Hopefully I can get some replacement knobs made from better quality materials because it’s very unattractive with cracked and peeling plastic knobs. Also kind of makes them a pain to clean.

• This beautiful appliance was already installed in my new house when I moved in a month ago. The middle burner burns the propane too yellow, not sure what is going on there. Have read that It should be primarily blue. The other four burners seem to work fine.

• Nice gas stove top and we love the hinged grates. However, you need to make every grade model available in white. We wanted the top grade and it only comes in stainless steel. Get with the times- stainless steel appliances are on the way out! We had to order the griddle separately and we couldn’t get the two sided griddle available with the white stove top. White is classic and timeless.

• The burner flames are much too high when set at the lowest level. The "troubleshooting tips" on www.whirlpool.com are basically useless to address this problem. Some online youtube videos suggest that there is a flame adjustment screw located inside of the control knob stem which is accessible once the knob has been removed. However our model (WCG97USODS) doesn't seem to have an adjustable screw in these burner control knob stems. Would very much like to have someone from Whirlpool contact me with the name and phone number of a Whirlpool representative who can make these flame adjustments.

• I bought my house 2 months ago. I love the look, but there are a few things that I am concerned about. The CAST-IRON COATING - comes off when you are "sauteing' and moving your pan around on it. Which is very disappointing for me, because I normally cook a lot, and I like to move my pan around on the surface of the Cast-Iron Grates. So now, my Grates look like I've used them for years... UGH My next concern is the KNOBS are TOO CLOSE to the Cast-Iron GRATES, and when you have a BIG SAUTE PAN, it covers the KNOBS, which also sometimes moves the KNOBS and either LOWERS or HEIGHTENS the FLAME.

• I love the look at option to lift the grates for cleaning instead of having to remove completely. Issues: Lowes refused to allow me to return for to the store because they only give you 48 to install and test. The rear burner didn’t spark requiring me to obtain service on a brand new item already. The right grate is slightly crooked, so it hangs a little off the side compared to the left grate. The install directions are in black in white and did not easily display the mounting bracket. It was confusing and took a while to figure out that the bracket goes under the counter not on top.
