This range was installed with my new home in April 2018. We have liked having the double ovens, and most functions work as expected, but the range has been fraught with issues from the beginning, culminating in the worst problem we just encountered. Major Issue: I have used the broiler many times on the oven, but usually on "Lo". I used it on "Hi" the other day for maybe 7-8 minutes and the heat warped the control panel. The buttons are working, but it looks awful, and I have read about other cases where the buttons stop working due to thermal damage. The Good: Looks pretty good when new Matches other Whirlpool appliances Double oven is very useful Convection and broiler Grate covers whole cooktop Oven cooks mostly evenly The Bad: Thermal damage from normal use Grate has broken (cracked all the way through) in at least 3 places The EZ-2-Lift grates easily scrape against the metal surrounding the control panel (installers damaged the metal out of the gate) The housing around the knobs is foil-wrapped plastic, which starts to peel off due to heat and cleaning with mild detergent (knobs are also foil-wrapped plastic) Paint near and on knobs is not very durable and is already starting to wear off due to normal use Broiler has not fully auto-ignited when on "Lo" since the first year, requiring the use of a lighter Stove burners are pretty low-powered and seem to perform worse when multiple burners are turned on Oven lights burn out very quickly Griddle burner is a bit under-powered Replacement parts are necessary to keep it looking good, but they are too pricey (i.e. $30 for a plastic knob) Summary: A good idea with the double oven and the inclusion of the convection feature, but the use of poor/cheap materials and faulty engineering/manufacturing make this a range you should avoid.

We purchased this range in December 2019 and installed it in our remodeled kitchen in March 2020. This was the only thing I splurged on in our kitchen because I cook all the time and wanted at least five burners and 2 ovens. I loved it and it is a beautiful appliance that matches our kitchen perfectly, BUT the grates are now broken. I cook on this range at least twice a day, but have never used my huge stock pot on it yet. A couple weeks ago I noticed the left grate was broken in one spot and then this week I noticed the other grate was broken too! It is only a year old and already has problems. I have never had a problem with grates on any electric or gas range until I purchase a brand new one. I am so upset about this. Just using a regular pan or pot, the broken part of the grate is weighed down because there is no support in the middle. It's a very poor design with very bad quality material. Just from using the large burner most of the time, the screw under the left grate, in front of the large burner has lost its paint and the rubber gasket thing under it has wasted almost completely away. (I am including a picture of it with a picture of the screw on the right side for comparison). Also, this range will not start with a lighter when the electricity is out, which was a huge disappointment since that was the main reason I got a gas range...you can still cook without power. Well I was wrong, it's a new safety feature and I won't ever buy a range with this feature again. I take great care of my new range, cleaning it every day with a damp, soapy rag and baking soda. So, I am so mad that something so expensive (to me), that I take great care of, has already had so many problems. So, overall, I am extremely disappointed, actually, upset and regretful of this purchase.

Bought the oven, heating element for the broiler in the top oven went out within a year and had to replace the bottom heating element twice within 3 years!!! I wouldn’t recommend buying this oven at all! Every time we use the top oven it makes a clicking sound! Very strange!!! Appliances should last decades for the outlandish price!!! I have a 1950’s refrigerator that still works great!!!!

I do not recommend this appliance and here is why. I purchased it online November 27, 2020. It was delivered on Friday, December 4, 2020. Over the weekend, we used the top burners for basic cooking and also the top oven for baking some biscuits. Then on Monday evening December 7, we used the top oven broiler feature and the top panel (where the main controls are) melted (note: We carefully used the supplied Whirlpool user instructions manual that came with the stove). The next morning, Tuesday, December 8, I called Whirlpool about it and it is now Wednesday, December 30, 2020 and it has yet to be resolved.

Purchased a few years ago and it's been working well until the cast iron grate has begun to break into pieces. I understand things break down over time with wear and tear but with light use this shouldn't just be falling apart and should be able to handle some heat (it's a stove) and a pot or two (you cook on a stove)
Cast Iron Catastrophe06/02/2020 12:57 PM
I recently purchased this double oven range... and fell in love! The hinged grates are amazingly easy to use, making clean ups simple! I just love the large oval burner... use a griddle pan, and it's perfect for grilled cheese, or pancakes, etc. The smaller upper oven is perfect! Love the quick preheat on the upper and lower ovens! I love love love the lower oven convection! I had never had a convection oven before, and I'm thrilled!

The lower oven door on my stove came crooked and I tried all the steps to straighten it but it's still crooked. I called and they are having difficultly finding service in my area. It's been over a week and nobody has shown up. The stovetop is to shallow front to back and my griddle pan will not fit completely over the middle eye. The rear control panel seems awful close to the back burners so much so that you can't get a very big pot on them without touching it. Also, the flame on the middle eye is more like a simmer that a grill. I wish I would have known this before purchasing.

I loved the double oven at first but after less than a year the control panel melted during a (short) self-cleaning cycle. The repair guy said to run a fan on it if I plan to ever clean the oven again, so when I do I need to have 2 fans cooling the vents on top! NOW... we noticed that the grate is CRACKED! Having come to this site to perhaps buy a new grate (warranty is up now) I see that many people also have broken grates. I've never heard of such a thing. I'm debating whether to buy them or just get a whole new stove. All my other appliances in the house are Whirlpool and I'm rather loyal to the brand so I'm very disappointed!!

This range is wrought with design malfunctions. The front mounted knobs are too easily turned on: if slightly bumped while walking by or using the hood or microwave, they will open the gas without igniting (or sometimes DOES ignite). Have come home 2x to propane in the house because the knobs were bumped before leaving. The knob labels are printed on, and wear off quickly, eliminating the use of the indicator. The cast iron grates are nicely opened, but if not careful, they will scrape the oven control surface and scratch it. The grates also have cracked. Now, less than two years old, the cooktop gas valve is intermittently opening… sometimes you can cook, sometimes not. The lower oven door will smack the floor (and your toes if you’re not aware) every time it opens. The spring loads do not slow it down and it has dented my wood flooring. This oven’s overall poor design makes me regret our purchase.

I ordered this oven 29th dec 2020. It finally arrived 8th March 2021. I stretched my budget for this oven and waited patiently for it. Today I was cooking and noted my pot was slanted. Upon further inspection I noted the grate was cracked over the largest burner. I called Goedekers and they said after 28days it wasn’t their problem… Whirlpool told me I was within my years warranty and their customer service were amazing!!! Whirlpool are sending replacement parts ASAP. But I think this is a design flaw, and warrants further investigation. I think the grate needs better welds or supports…. Also looking at the reviews. I am not the only person with this issue. :(

Just like "Cast Iron Catastrophe" above, our grate footing broke off and we've only had it for a year and a half. I called the phone number "Response from Whirlpool" asked him to call for help, but they refused to help me. They wanted me to order a $200 part I should never have to replace after a year and a half. Ridiculous.

I bought this 4 month. First month it melted the control panel while broiling. The next month the grate broke, consistent to other reviews. It’s on the left side grate. It’s true the grate is too high and need to always put the flame high in order to cook. It’s not energy efficient. I like Whirlpool, I replaced all my kitchen appliances, refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave, but this is the worst quality product I got from Whirlpool.

I’m a “you catch more flies with honey” person, and I used to sell whirlpool products regularly and had a good relationship with the reps. It pains me to post this, but these problems seem common, unacceptable, and I have not been able to resolve this over multiple attempts with customer service. In Summary: We spent thousands of dollars outfitting our home with 6 whirlpool appliances. 2 years later, most of them (4 of 6) have failed resulting in over $1000 worth of repairs. Many of these problems seem to be common based on other reviews, but customer support has failed to present anything other than temporary fixes, so I anticipate ongoing repair bills for the life of the product. Probably less expensive in the long run for use to purchase a different brand. For your own good, I’d caution you against purchasing Whirlpool Products. And before I get the auto-generated response, I’ve contacted customer service to try to resolve this many times (many hours on hold). I’m happy to try to resolve this again, but I need to speak with a customer service agent with the authority to do something other than connect me with a repair service charging high rates at my cost. Washing Machine: Within one year, locked wet laundry in machine. Could not access for over 24 hours. Error codes E01 and F03. Repaired under warranty, but never drained right again. Asked repair person, who said that’s just the way it was. A year later, same problem and we are now paying for a problem that was present within the warranty period. Range/Oven: Cracked grates present possible burning hazard (same exact spot as many other complaints). Labeling on knob rubs off (never cleaned with anything other than dish water) which is also a common problem from the complaints. Ignitor failed just a few months out of warranty. Excessive heat venting from typical use (shown melting the display in many complaints). Many hundreds of dollars in parts and repair costs for obvious design flaws not acknowledged by whirlpool that occurred under warranty but considered “wear and tear” despite identical problems from many users. Dishwasher: Arrived with leaking drain or supply hose resulting in standing water on brand new floor. Had to negotiate with store of purchase, customer support would not assist, with no consideration for potential damage to sub-flooring. Refrigerator: Arrived with broken parts (replaced under warranty). Protective plastic can’t be removed without pulling off trim. Bits of plastic clearly visible with no good way to remove (production flaw). Dryer and Microwave: So far, so good though the microwave has reports of failing displays. I’m knocking on wood because this is getting expensive. My experience: Samsung Washer and Dryer lasted 10 years with us, working when passed on to a needy family. Frigidaire refrigerator moved to garage still going strong after an estimated 23 year. Jenn-Air (a Whirlpool Brand) needed a new display and new burners after 13 years, but still working after 23 at our last place.

I’ve had this for a little over a month. Three weeks in, the whole broiler element fell down from the top of the upper oven. The threads on the screw holding it in place are completely stripped, clearly over-torqued at the factory. Luckily I had just removed food from the oven and turned the broiler off or it would have caused a fire. I’m meeting the repair person today to have it repaired, which better be covered under warranty. Whirlpool’s customer support system is difficult to navigate. I’ve had whirlpool appliances in most of the places I’ve lived, and I’ve bought several brand new and never had any issues until now which is disappointing. I am giving them a chance to fix this and will update my review once this is resolved. Otherwise the oven looks great and cooks well with lots of nice features. The lower oven is a little difficult to load if you’re tall so you have to basically kneel on the ground. You have to be careful opening the hinged grates to keep them from scratching the back control panel. Overall I’m happy with it but I’m wary of its long term reliability.

Replaced all kitchen appliances a few years ago with Whirlpool stainless steel appliances and this item I wanted to love! But cannot believe that after a few years a piece of the grate broke off!!! Like many other reviewers very disappointed and unsatisfied. Replacement grate costs over 200 dollars for poor quality. It is cast iron and piece broke off where it's welded, while cooking mind you, scared me with the loud pop! I love the look of this appliance and wonderful to have 2 ovens but cannot believe I have to replace the grate after 2 1/2 years, it should last much longer than that as the cost of the replacement is over 200 dollars. Sadly, I definitely do not recommend this product!

We bought this in April 2017. The grate didn't sit properly on the surface of the cooktop, so we ordered another one which had the same problem. We figured it was a manufacturing defect since both arrived from the warehouse with the same problem. Within 3 months of use, the grate broke (cast iron snapped right off) due to the fact that it doesn't sit properly which presumably causes improper weight distribution. We've replaced the grate three times in the last 6 weeks. Every time we get a new grate it breaks soon thereafter. I absolutely love the double oven but the stove is a nightmare. I'll be expecting a full refund from Whirlpool.
SJ09/01/2017 08:00 PM
I absolutely love it! The only thing I found is when you lift the grate to clean you have to make sure you lift straight up (and make sure you have an extra 1/4 inch on each side for grate to swing up) or it will scrape the digital control casing. I now have several scratches in the stainless steel facing. Also, I’m short so it doesn’t bother me, but taller people may not like how far down you have to go to pull stuff out of the bottom oven.

I love the double oven. I am happy we converted to a gas range. I do wish it came with a griddle for the middle range. We bought this new in August 2020, but didn’t get it delivered until October due to high demand. We installed it 11/21/2020. I say this to point out how little time this has taken to show wear and tear with normal use. The front digital panel has melted and warped. I’m so upset about this and now looking at reviews, I see this is not an issue new to me. My pics look exactly like others that have the same issue. I would 100% return this oven if I could. This happened just over 2 months of use. The black on the grates is wearing off too. Be careful when you broil. You can only do it in the top oven, so the racks are very close to the broiler. The top oven tends to cook somewhat unevenly, but I’ve learned and compensate for that. It’s difficult to use more that two burners at a time. I don’t normally need that, but it would be nice to have the option. Another flaw is the timer. It beeps once. The same beep it has when the oven is preheated. It’s utterly useless. It’s true they don’t make things like they used to. If this is what it’s like after two months, will it even last two years? It’s not a cheap oven. I hope they replace/repair the parts.
Cass03/02/2021 10:02 AM
I bought this on April 1.. It was installed on 4-14. The ovens ignite and work wonderfully, I love both sizes. However, the burners do not ignite without using a match! When the unit was installed , our installer said we needed to contact Whirlpool to get the issue fixed. I did that and was told a Whirlpool serviceman would get what we needed. Now, over 2 months later, I am STILL WAITING for my burners to get new spark harness and igniters, or whatever I need. I call the serviceman weekly, he says the parts are not in yet. I called Whirlpool and have been told since they handed the problem over to a serviceman, there is nothing Whirlpool can do!!!! REALLY?????
Rockinrhonda06/09/2022 04:33 AM
I have waited years for a stove like this. The lower over is low, but I do not have a problem with this. The top oven cooks pizza and cookies to perfection. This is my first time using a convection oven. I do t think I will be able to go back.
McSchmidt03/02/2021 07:01 AM
We bought a new home and we upgraded to this stove as I cook a lot and wanted a stove which heats pretty fast. But this stove has been absolute torture to cook. The fire source and the grates are too far from each other so food takes 10minutes just to heat up.The upper oven is just for decorative purpose as if you bake in the top oven we cant cook in the gas range as the burners will get too hot to handle. The lower oven's door hits the floor every time you open it. When complained to customer care the guy was like "Its a design flaw and I cant do anything about it. You should talk to whirlpool engineers about it." Ridiculous service and design by whirlpool.
Swathi Kodali06/20/2018 07:42 AM
I've been disappointed in both the physical and functional design of this machine. It seems neither aspect included the input of a cook. The physical design LOOKS nice, but the front burners are located so far back from the front edge of the stovetop that they are too close to the back burners to allow even two medium-size pans to be centered over both burners. (See photos.) And with a large-size pan on the front burner, there's not enough room to use the back burner at all. Then there’s how the broiler works. I was flabbergasted to learn that, by design, the broiler will turn itself off based on the temperature of the oven. I learned that the hard way. I set the broiler on high to cook fish, which should take exactly 12 minutes on that setting. After 12 minutes, I went to take it out, and realized that the broiler had turned itself off. So the fish was only partially cooked and it sat there for another several minutes while I waited for the oven to first cool down and then for the broiler to start again.

Nice stove, ovens. Has everything I need. Like the way the grills open to make cleaning easier. I find myself using the top for broiling and baking.
Kathy g11/09/2022 02:56 AM
We have had the oven for almost one year. I love the double oven. We cook a lot and have big get togethers. I have not used the center burner. We use the convect oven part for roasting veggies and it works great. A little uneven baking for desserts for both and top and bottom where I need to rotate halfway. Right from the beginning the black writing on the knobs washed off. The knobs turn on easily from just leaning over to clean the microwave or bumping into them. I can deal with the uneven baking but I wouldn't buy this oven again because of the knobs.
