The stove cooking area is great. The grates are level which is very useful and the heating elements are ok. However any water or anything else that ends up on top of the surface will set off different commands on the touchpad, often simultaneously which results in "Call Service" messages or fault errors several times a week. There are already rust spots all over the front of the control panel which appears within 6-9 months. Poor quality for the $3500 for this unit.

We needed a downdraft oven. They are not easy to find. We also needed a dual fuel with electric convection oven and a gas cook top. We found everything we needed in our Kitchen Aid oven. When took the old oven out we discovered that the previous home owner drafted the old oven straight into the basement, which we plan to finish. I called the store that sold the oven to us and was told that oven had an optional Ductless Vent System! So now everything is installed and the oven is larger than the old one was making this perfect for cooking for large family gatherings. The stainless steel makes clean up a snap on the cooktop and the oven has a steam clean feature. This oven was a great investment in our home.

I love the look of our new downdraft slide-in stove and particularly like having the great benefit of a gas cook top and the consistent temperature of an electric oven. The downdraft system was necessary since we created an island around our stove and lost the overhead cabinets and exhaust hood. We did find however, that even on high, the downdraft was only capable of pulling approx. 20% of the visible steam (see photos) coming from a 4-1/2" tall pot of boiling liquid. Consequently, most of the steam and smell of cooking food was staying in the kitchen. I did a little experimenting and fabricated an exhaust extension which raised the height of the exhaust opening and redirected the pull of air toward the pot. Considerably more of the steam was now being exhausted. A vertical telescoping exhaust extension (manual or motor driven) capable of being positioned slightly higher than the cooking pot being used, would be an effective addition to the exhaust system. Just a thought. Bill McKay

I hope this will help anyone going through this transition. First of all the new KitchenAid is a beautiful stove but replacing the JennAire is a difficult project. #1- My JennAire fit the counter top but had an overlap so the counter has to be cut out 1/8" on either side for the KitchenAid. Cost was $225. #2 The JennAire is hardwired, 30amp and the KitchenAid wire has a plugin cord so it wants a new plug, 40amp or a 50amp, so they had to run new 40amp wire from a new 40mp breaker, about 45 feet. They used the 40amp as KitchenAid said we could but the 50amp would probably preheat the oven faster. Maybe better faster oven clean? To get to 425 degrees takes about 20/25 minutes. New electrical was $800. They said the 50amp would be much more. #3 The downdraft hole in the floor that the JennAire used will not fit the new downdraft KitchenAid assembly so you will have to find somebody creative. I had 3 people say no. This fellow charged $338 and was worth every penny for whet he went through. The original installer was very confident he could fix it all - unknowing of the above problems - charged me $205. That included the new gas line and hook up and the haul away of the old JennAire so I was able to use the new KitchenAid, sitting in the middle of my kitchen, using a lighter for the burners and not having an oven. The range was delivered on Feb. 5 and was finished and usable on Feb. 19. It is truly a gorgeous range and I am very happy with it. BTW: the digital panel on the front is very sensitive and I found - OMG - my cat could walk across it and turn it on! Digging in the info, you can hold the Start for 6 seconds and the panel will LOCK! What a great idea for cats and children. This was the ONLY range I found with the downdraft and I was shocked at the cost but it seems there is no alternative unless you redesign your kitchen.

I bought this gas range a year ago for our new house. Had the kitchen remodeled. The oven bake mode is very slow to heat to temp. The stainless scratches very easily. The stainless around the burners has developed rust pits. The oven self-clean is terrible- check out the after cleaning photo! For a $3500 to $4000 range it is a huge disappointment after much research for a downdraft. Hesitate to buy a JennAir when KitchenAid bought them out producing this knock-off and they’re still selling the JennAir. Choices are limited for downdraft. I was super excited to get this beautiful looking range for our new kitchen. Heartbreaking disappointment! It looks like I have had it 5 years. We have taken very good care of it but you would not know it looking at it today. This is my honest review!!!!

I bought a new gas ranger with downdraft just before this thanksgiving holiday, the delivery company is very good, but I found three issues after I unpacked it as attached photos showed, the scratched surface, the unshared vent interface and a cutter blade under plastic wrap which almost hurt my hand when I unpacked it。I know there is 15 days free return policy provided by Kichenaid, but it seems useless to me, because when I found these issues, my old ranger had been removed away waiting for hookup , I was frustrated if I call for free return, I have to get the old ranger re-installed, this will waste my time and money ,so I have no choice but accept it, just wishing good characters and quality in future.By the way ,the service call experience is terrible, you can’t reach a representative only if you can wait for more than 30 minutes.

I bought this range 5 years ago. The oven quit coming up to temp. With 340 degrees being the max. After talking with a friend that has the exact model & exact problem, she figured out it was the lower element. While replacing, both of ours were litterally broken in the left corner. Not only the rubber part of our downdraft on both was disenegrated. Over $200 for that part. Oven still not working properly. Cooked a meatloaf for 1&1/2 hours & it was still raw in the middle; had to microwave 😞Impossible to talk to anyone at kichenaid. They need to recall this piece of junk!!

We needed a downdraft range and thought that this kitchenaid would be a good choice because of the reputation of the company. It is a terrible product. Even on low speed, the vent fan pulls the flame away from the pot. We have to set the pot halfway on the vent to get flame to cover the bottom of the pot and to get any exhaust to go down the vent. I’ve never even tried the high setting on the vent because I would never get enough energy to my pot. Also, one of the knobs for the cooktop has come apart. It doesn’t affect how it operates, just looks unsightly. To make matters worse, the self-cleaning feature on the oven does not work. I clean all of the debris as indicated in the directions, but the oven does not clean, even when run multiple times in succession. More oven problems. This oven is supposed to have a shelf that slides out when you open the door. This worked for about the first month then quit. Have no idea why. Maybe this one is a lemon. This one is not worthy of the Kitchenaid name. We’ve had all the shelves replaced once already and they still don’t work. We’ve also had new orifices put in. I would love to have a whole new appliance. One that worked.

We have had this two months now and its ok. There is no real way to use the downdraft internally. Kitchen aid says this doesnt need to be vented outside but they do not sell a filter kit for the exhaust fan that sits below the oven. One of the bezels that has the red line indicator to note the burner is off, is not oriented correctly. Also I do not think the temperature is acurate. This was a replacement for one that came in damaged and then took months to back order. See photos

I bought this 3 months ago. I am very pleased with it so far. I haven't used the "steam cleaning" that is susposed to work on the oven, so the jury is still out on that. The downdraft is both powerful and quiet. The one thing that I DON'T LIKE is the optional trim kit that basically is mandatory if you want the installation to look custom and professional. There are MANY comments about this trim does not fit this and they ARE RIGHT. The trim is about 4 inches short and makes the installation look like an amateur installed this $4,000 range. Kitchenaid hasn't responded to this complaint and it's a sign of bad customer response. Just maybe this review will help. I would not buy this again if I knew this ahead of time.

Wish I would have bought it several years sooner. It's the stove I dreamed of!

I am a appliance installer, I had the chance to install this range. I was unable to do so due to the poor design of the venting system The Fan is so large there is limited space to vent the unit down. My situation had a floor joist in the area the vent pipe needed to be placed. It has always been difficult to get a dual fuel range to sit flush against the wall due to gas and electric lines obstructing the range from sliding completly back, Now you add a poorly designed venting system, that will also cause issues to slide the range all the way to the wall. Has any of your designers ever installed one of these ranges in a real life situation?

This range replaced my JennAire range. I have had it less than one year. This was the only option with a downdraft. After cooking two turkeys for Thanksgiving it needed cleaned. The AquaLift technology only cleans the BOTTOM OF THE OVEN!!! What about the rest of the oven and the racks? The cleaning instructions say to not use oven cleaners!!! The store technician advised Dawn dish washing liquid and a soft sponge. I have spent hours on the floor bending around the door wiping!! This is not self cleaning at all!! Service of a product is just as important as the product. I would never recommend this range.

I highly discourage anybody to consider this product. We bought this stove less than a year ago and it was malfunctioning to the point of being unusable. It took 4 visits (2+ hours each, for which I had to take off work), 4x of my stove being completely taken apart and put back together again, and 7 weeks without a stove before I finally got the problem resolved: ended up needing a completely new stove. It is probably not out of the ordinary to have issues with a new appliance, it is a matter of how the issues are handled. KitchenAid customer service is essentially not existent. For a brand considered ‘top of the line’, I expect competent customer service.

I had this stove/oven installed last month and it works and looks great. Very happy with the appliance so far. However as some other reviews say just be aware that the installation process is more involved than with others that are not the downdraft style. I replaced a Jenn Air range that was roughly 20-25 years old and had to hire a contractor, electrician and plumber as all connections needed to be updated.

I bought stove/oven in early 2020- over $3,600. Touch pad started having issues and oven isn't heating up. Appliance repair person says the circuit board and touch panel need replacing as is common on these. Kitchenaid said it's not their issue and won't stand by their manufacturing or parts so I'm out another $800 to replace. Why can a company like Patagonia replace a $150 jacket at no charge for a manufacturing issue but Kitchenaid won't at over $3,600. I also have a matching Kitchenaid dishwasher- less than 2 years old and circulation pump broke 6 months ago- also another part they won't cover. Do yourself a favor and go elsewhere for your appliances.

Love it !!! Clean lines. Very professional. Heat adjustments are very specific. Clean up is a pleasure. Cooking is much faster than before, thank you.

I bought this as I have had Kitchenaid before and loved all my appliances. I needed a natural gas range with a downdraft for our renovation we were doing and I didn't want a hood.Right after install, we went out , came back home and it smelled of gas. It was the range. If you so much as glance the knobs, the gas comes on. The oven handle doesn't stick out enough for you to avoid that, and they are easily turned on. We took off the knobs , but the plastic piece inside the knob breaks easily so now we only have two out of four that work ok. New knobs are $98.00 a piece and won't fix the turning on problem. Terrible design and not like Kitcheaid quality I expect.

convection is excellent, the led and window are out of this world amazing, the downdraft is really powerful i don't think i'll have to dust it works that well

We remodeled our kitchen and purchased all new appliances, refrigerator, dishwasher and stove. They all have a wonder look and feel to them. Our review of the stove is mixed. It works well with the exception of the downdraft fan which does not work We are currently waiting on what we hope is the (third) final visit from the repair tech. So far nothing that he has done, including the replacement of parts, has fixed the issue. This is extremely frustrating. For the price of this stove we expected a MUCH better result.

I replaced a 29 year old Jenn-Air with this Kitchen Aid dual fuel downdraft range. Even though I had to wait five months for delivery (due to supply issues), I can now say it was worth the wait!

We recently remodeled our kitchen and replaced a 27 year old Jenn Air with a Kitchen Aid. So glad we did. It is a beautiful addition to our new kitchen. I love the lock feature on the top controls. I was a little concerned about the stainless steel cooktop, but find it very easy to keep clean. The different size burners are so much better than all one size, like my old range. Although I do wish one of the smaller burners was in front. So far I couldn’t be happier.
Deb123405/07/2020 08:06 PM
Only had it for a week now, but so far so good. It replaced my Jenn Air pro style downdraft, and I am liking this new range quite a bit. It’s really easy to use, spills wipe up easily. I hope it lasts as long as my previous range did. Kitchenaid, please don’t stop making downdraft ranges!
Indigochild08/17/2022 06:16 PM
The old JennAire was slightly less deep so this one sticks out a bit, but it IS the center of attention anyway. So, we're okay with that. Pre-heating the oven seems to take a lot longer than in the gas JennAire, but for baking, roasting and broiling this oven is FAR superior, so it's worth the extra wait time. I've become compulsive about cleaning the stainless steel surfaces - worried about staining, scratching, etc. But that's on me, not the oven. Overall, love this oven.
