Within the 1st year of using the range hood in a new home, I noticed a lot of oil leaking out of the back of the range hood (which ended up staining the marble backsplash and grout below it). I wipe down the back splash and clean the filter grids several times a week. Oil still gets through and drips out of the corner of the machine. Even after cleaning the filter grids, the Clean filter message on the LCD screen NEVER goes away. The inside edge of the panel that swings down is razor sharp as well. It will slice your finger clean open if you try to clean it and are not aware of how sharp it is. A service representative came out a few times during the 1st year of use to inspect the unit. They said everything was functioning as designed. Finally after 2 years of using this range hood, the range hood started making weird sounds and finally stopped working. I believe the bearings are bad and it would need a new motor. Sorry, even if Kitchenaid were to give me a new motor for free, I don't think I would want to revive this unit for further use. My opinion is that it is poorly made (stops working only after 2 years of use??), functions poorly (leaks oil from behind the unit and from one of the seams) and aside from cleaning the filter grids (the rest is not easy to clean).

Yes, this is not quiet on speeds past the first one. I was cooking burgers and had it on high. Turned it off. Ate dinner. Went to wash up and there was grease streaking down my backsplash from the back of the hood. Opened it up and there was grease everywhere! This is the first major time we’ve used it. I read something about using it in cold temps — needs to run longer after cooking. Is that what happened here? Stained my white grout, although got most of it out.

We have had nothing but problems - the sheet metal underneath the range hood is lob sided and now sticks out like a sore thumb. A contracter came in and checked the level - it was completely off on the bottom part, making it look horrible with our backsplash. Not only that the Kitchenaid logo is crooked! Did this unit pass quality control? For 1200 i would expect it to be perfect!

We wanted to replace our down draft gas stove, but was fearful of installing an exhaust to the outside. The contractor recommended this exhaust vent as a solution. Perfect solution.

I bought this vent. It works. It's very loud, which is fine. However, the buttons are no longer readable (see photo). I don't understand why KitchenAid would use painted letters on top of plastic that would obviously wear off. I have no idea how those would be changed out, or if they can be changed out. Also, the glass lenses that protect the halogen lights have a horrible clip that holds them in place. Because they are glass lenses, you have to be very careful not to break the glass, which isn't easy given the amount of force necessary to replace the lenses after changing the bulb. Be prepared to change these every 2 years.

Two weeks after the warranty expired on my range hood, the blower wheel exploded while cooking dinner last night and of course is now inoperable. I expected a thousand dollar range hood to last me more than 12 months, KitchenAid. I spent most of the day searching for a replacement blower wheel, but it appears I have to spend several hundred dollars to replace the entire blower assembly. It's very disappointing to see more than just me with this problem in the recent reviews. I suggest you look elsewhere for range hoods.

I purchased this hood a little more than a month ago and it works well and looks really good in my kitchen as it should for the price of the item. When looking at photos online, I thought that there was a clock on the display on the hood, but I was mistaken as the numbers shown are for the timer. The only issue was the installation; hire someone to do it as I did it myself and it took awhile to figure it out, I had to pay a buddy to help me with it because it takes at least two people to hold it up. They don't give you an installation template and there is little space to see if you are lined up with the screws. I eventually got it installed, but you'll save yourself a headache if you hire someone else to do it.

Our builder picked it out for us and custom made the long hood to the ceiling. The features are great! Love how it matches all our KitchenAid appliances!

I finally created my dream kitchen. I love to cook and entertain. My old hood was noisy and not very functional. My new KitchenAid hood is both attractive, powerful and quiet.

I like the way this looks. Unfortunately that is all I can say because we haven’t actually been able to connect it. Bought as part of a kitchen redo and our installer ha s a question about whether it’s truly “ductless” since conversion kit seems to attach at top and not inside. Which would be manageable except that no one at Kitchenaid can tell me. Have spent 25 minutes on hold with a “product specialist” today who didn’t know. She connected me to a post-sales specialist, which was actually another company entirely. They aren’t taking any phone calls - their entire staff is in “a training” so you have to leave an email inquiry and wait for a response. I’ve been a loyal customer for three sets of appliances now, but there is no support after the sale. Next time I’ll stick with the Broan hood. Cost 20% or this one and they actually answer the phone.

My venthood hood is less than 2 years old. The fan inside made some loud noises one day when I was doing some cooking on the back burners, so I unplugged and called the repair man. He took it apart and found the fan inside the blower motor came apart, the fins are made of cheap plastic and cannot hold up the heat from cooking. The don’t let you order just a fan, you have to get the whole blower motor (around 250$). I called customer service and was told it was out of warrantee I could pay 432$ over the course of a year for a service plan, or have them come and evaluate for a 250$ flat fee then have to pay for whatever parts / labor are needed. I just ordered the part and had my repair man install (it’s about 8 screws t10). The OEM fan was in for about 2 weeks when cooked on the back burners again, both on at once, produced a good amount of heat - suddenly BAM - same loud noise and failure. I took it apart myself this time and examined the blower fan pieces carefully. The plastic actually melts and comes apart. Why KitchenAid would not supply a metal finned fan is mind blowing, or a replacement fan on a known issue is mind blowing. This is a $1300 vent hood. Stand behind your product KitchenAid, you are a supposed reputable company. I believe they intend to have these fail so you much purchase service plans.

These things are a real bear to install. The metal edges are like razor blades (wear gloves and long sleeves), I had six cuts that needed bandaids and many other smaller cuts. The instructions are also very poor. After install, the fan will not turn off. I called their customer service (which is probably the worst experience I have ever had) and got nowhere fast. For the money these things cost.... I recommend you look for a different product, or for $900 bucks, you can have a piece of junk like me.

A few of the issues might not have anything to do with kitchen aid reguardless not happy. To start the item had a small dent in it only to be revealed after the plastic was removed. Second I have standard sized cabinets and this good range didn't fit all the way to the back when it was installed leaving a large gap in the back I spoke with both kitchen aid and the retailer I purchased this good from and neither could explain what went wrong or if there was a fix. Lastly after about a month of use a error warning started popping up to clean the grease trap. It seems kind of odd that would happen considering it had only been used a few times. Overall I am not satisfied with this order or the customer service I received.

We are very pleased to be using this high-quality and highly efficient equipment
Ramahusa07/30/2025 11:23 PM
This unit was bought bought and installed about 4 months ago. The first unit was installed and used maybe a week, vented to outside. The fan began making sounds and upon further inspection, we found pieces of the plastic fan blades inside. Our local supplier intervened and obtained a replacement vent - parts could not be obtained for the fan alone. After 2nd install, we found the vent and fan to work very well and have not had any further problems with the fan. The installation process was difficult and required some modifications. As for functionality, the fisrt and second speeds are adequate for venting our cooking area.

Ours is about 2.5 years old. It stopped running recently. Just hums when turned on. I removed the blower and took apart to find the issue. Everything was cleaned and inspected with no clear damage to report. After putting it back together (easy process) and reinstalling it in the hood, it continued to do the same thing. new motor is about $500 to replace, almost half of a new one. I will not buy this again our spend money on replacing the blower just to have it happen again.

I do wish that this hood was a little quieter. Efficient, and clean design. The hood has poorly-engineered mounting screws in awkward locations making it difficult to hang and level. After several weeks, the 'clean grease filter' alert came on. I cleaned the filters, but the fault indicator remained on. No solution in the manual or online anywhere. I eventually reset the alert by holding the '+' button down for > 5 seconds. Absolutely nothing in the manual about this!

I never have used the product due to the motherboard being replaced and I'm awaiting a part. It was defective right out of the box! Not the Kitchen Aid quality I'm used to seeing in the past. I will be rating everything POOR as I haven't been able to use any of the features due to the slack product that was sent to me.

My new vent is very quiet and efficient. The timer feature is very helpful. The lighting is nice.
Hari07/15/2022 11:54 PM
Love this range hood. The only thing that would make it stellar would be a night light setting!
JEligirl607/29/2022 04:15 AM
The LED lights are a harsh, bright white light with just one setting. There is no option for a dimmer or night light setting. Very unpleasant to have on if you're not actively cooking. Also, believe the many reviews indicating this is incredibly difficult to install. Not worth it. We very much regret purchasing.
Coras05/18/2021 05:57 AM
We are very unhappy with this range hood. Just a year after purchasing it, after only using it a handful of times, the fan blade came apart making terrible noise. To add insult to injury, the replacement motor was defective so we are waiting for a new part. We're hoping the next service call will be the last.
Sadness07/24/2020 06:40 PM
The unit is very powerful and will remove the smoke while cooking. However, grease leaks out the back of unit on to the wall. We clean the two filters at least twice a week, the filters have hardly any frase in them. We use it for normal cooking, we don’t fry foods or cook with a lot of smoke. I called Kitchenaid and they promptly sent a tech to troubleshoot. The unit is installed correctly and won’t do anything about. They said we need to clean it more and we are overpowering the unit. This is far from the truth. I’ve had many hoods and this is the first one that leaks grease. I wouldn’t recommend it.
