Bought new construction home June 2020. Had the builder upgrade to KitchenAid model KVWB406DSS2. Grease pours down wall after cooking. Had manufacturer representative out on two separate service calls. On 4/15/21, representative stated that grease running down wall after cooking was normal. No solution from manufacturer representative. Former residence had Viking hood for 18 years, never had grease run down wall.

I bought this hood as a part of my dream kitchen. The build got delayed due to engineers, contractors then covid and obtaining building material. Silly me, I kept the hood tightly sealed in the shipping box to prevent damage, chipping or scratching. My builder took it out of the box 4 days ago and WOW the top was crushed. The stainless steal cove won't fit on it, but that's ok, as the motor still runs!! Kitchen Aid, said too bad so sad, you should have taken it out of the box within 30 days of delivery. Now you are out $1000 dollars and a focal point of your dream kitchen.

I bought this hood to replace a different brand that no longer had parts available for repair. Shortly after it was installed we noticed oil dripping down the wall after the problem continued we called for service to see if the oil management system was not installed correctly. The tech said everything was installed correctly and there was no known issues and we need to wash the filters more. I washed the filters and cleaned up all the oil and 4 days later oil was running down the wall again. We have not changed cooking styles since we have been cooking blue apron meals for 2 years and the prior vent hood we replaced had no oil issues and I never had to clean the oil filters...

Don’t waste your money. Doesn’t work, grease all over. Poor customer service!

I purchase this hood for our kitchen remodel. Overall, looks good, I didn’t not vent to outside. Purchased charcoal filters. Little difficult to secure but did finally snap in. The only problem, with the charcoal filters in place causes the internal plug to power the controls was short, it doesn’t snap into place. Had to open the hood to see if the wire could be lengthened but unable to get that done. Looks like a design flaw from the company. Had to get an electrician to secure it and add some length. Plug connects fine without the charcoal filters in place. Recommend outside venting instead of using filters.
Kitchen Aid hood ($1600)10/07/2023 06:54 PM
Purchased this and other KitchenAid products (Spent 13K) it came damaged and metal was bent, the box was in perfect condition. Called KitchenAid to explain the situation which they told me they will send out a tech to see what parts can be replaced. Tech came out and said that it was too damaged and they can't use parts to fix it. Guess what im stuck with a $1,000 bent hood. High Five KitchenAid. NEVER AGAIN...you will get my business. Will be sure to share my story with Friends and Family.

Although the kitchen has only been completed for 2 weeks, we are enjoying the matching pieces of our Kitchenaid appliance package.

New build home, moved in a week ago with this lovely Kitchen aid vent hood an upgrade of course. I cooked dinner twice and then......Grease? Dripping down the wall. Kitchen aid repair was called, repairman unsure what could cause this? Coming back next week to replace motor and see if that fixes the problem !?! Really unhappy

Exceptionally poor design leads to loud noise but no real air-flow or venting! This is such an epic disappointment. I would sell it for $1.00 if i could. Sadly got shafted with this useless accessory as part of new construction. It does not work at all. Inexplicably, they installed a large metal plate over the fans, which blocks all airflow except for a narrow sliver at the front. Looks cool, but does not work at all unless you drop the cover.

I installed this at a height to accommodate my wife who is 5' tall, I'm 6' when I bend over I hit the edge of the hood whose corners are extremely sharp; I had to pad the corners until I had completed. Another feature I found unusual to change the speed from high to a lower you have to release the high button for the speed to drop to the lower speed.

We just remodeled our kitchen and have installed all Kitchenaid appliances, including this canopy hood. I can tell you it’s extremely quiet, easy to clean and the dual lights give plenty of workspace light. Highly recommend!

It is a beautiful art piece in the kitchen and so much more. The lighting is excellent, plenty of power in fan and so easy to get to the filters — that go into the dishwasher for cleaning!!

Looked great out of box BUT as appliance installers were mounting it, they noticed a recirculating vent and charcoal filter were not included. We scoured the internet and manuals to find the proper parts #s. Extremely difficult. Recirculating vent is out of stock everywhere, to include the kitchen aid website. Customer service just referred me to third party vendors to locate the parts. If I would have known these were needed i would have bought them all together, now I have a $1,000 inoperable unit on our wall. Careful purchasing because they don't tell you up front that you need accessories, then you are left to try to find them on the internet.

This was an upgrade appliance, and more expensive. It works great with nice features, but the section of “Stainless Steele” that goes from the mid section of the vent to the ceiling looks like crap and cheap. It doesn't match the bottom portion of the vent and hood, which does look like an upgrade appliance.

I bought this Hood Dec 2017. Model #KVWB406DSS2. It was delivered Jan 2018. The entire light and venting system was replaced October 2018. I just had the light and venting system worked on again today, and the lights had to be replaced. The same two lights were replaced in Oct 2018 and today each light cost $70.00 each. The service call was $125.00. I had to pay $284.00 for a hood system that has failed to work continuously for twelve months. The lighting and venting system has not worked for a complete nine months the entire time I have owned it. I would never buy Kitchenaid again. The appliances are unreliable and not worth the money. Please buy another brand as I have never felt so bad about a purchase. I am not happy with this but it was my choice and I can only warn others. Beware of KitchenAid, I promise you will regret it. I have ended up paying more money for something that I could not even use because the venting system came on spontaneously. Completely awful product.

This hood makes me feel I am cooking in a commercial kitchen. The various fan speeds and bright lights make cooking a perfect setup.

I remodeled my kitchen and was looking forward to having a hood with lights and fan. Much to my dismay the fan did not work after installation. Two tech calls finally produced a new motor which lasted less than 5 minutes. Now I'm told I need to experience the same problem 4 times before anyone will consider a replacement! Other new Kitchenaid appliances are working great (dual range oven, microwave, dishwasher). Has anyone else experienced similar issues or did I just get a lemon?

After owning many KitchenAid appliances over the years, I bought this hood (KVWB406DSS) in October 2018. A little over a year after it was installed, the LED lights stopped working. Two months later, the lights failed again. Again, the circuit board is the problem. Kitchen Aid customer service offered to pay for the part, but after spending $1000 on the hood and $300 for a fix that didn’t work the first time, we have decided to replace the hood completely. I have always admired KitchenAid, but this hood is really not representative of the typical high quality that you’d expect.

Beautiful, Quiet and Effective! I'm so glad we went with Kitchenaid.

The nice looking hood was installed as an upgrade in a new Toll Brothers home. Within 6-7 weeks of moving in the house the Blower motor broke down and needs to be replaced. Calls to Kitchen Aid help desk has long 30+ min wait times. On a positive note the customer service reps are very polite and helpful. However, Kitchen Aid has only one service provider in the area and their technician insists that the hood has to be uninstalled before they can replace the motor. It is a huge unexpected mess. We regret buying the product and to make matters worse all our other appliances are whirlpool and the cook top has also broken down within the short use period.

purchased this a year ago, its mounted but not installed. manual clearly instructs you to attach the air diverter to a spacer plate located on top of the hood... our unit had no such spacer included in packaging and kitchenaid doesn't have a part number for the mysterious spacer plate drawn out on their diagram. i've spent many several hour long customer service calls trying to get an answer. right now we have a $900 stainless steel ornament hanging in our kitchen and a customer service department that doesn't have a clue.

Installed August 2016: Light did not work Vent worked August 2016: Called for Warranty fix of Light November 2016: Light still not fixed ??? Vent now does not work ??? Customer Service for this has been really bad because 4 months and I still can't use my Vent or Light I gave it 1 Star because it Looks nice, but it simply does not work. Such a shame for an expensive product. At least it looks nice, but simply does not work at all.

I’m so happy, but I need the cover in the ceiling. Model # KVWB400 DSS4

I bought this a month ago and it hooked up easily hardwired to my electrical. I think its a nice timeless design but also updates the kitchen nicely for the professional chef look! The only thing I wish they had mentioned was that the led lights are a cool white, while my undermounted ones are a warm white. It would be nice to match these and also have the option to purchase the warm lights to install. Another small design I find strange is that the buttons don't pop out when another one is pressed, my wife finds this strange as well. Lastly, the fan is quiet on 1 and 2, but there seems to be a big jump to 3...but it's still pretty quiet. Install using 6' rigid for the quietest and best venting!
