Product Features
Low Profile Design
Affords more space between the bottom of the hood and the cooking surface. The visible portion of the hood extends just 2-3/8" below the cabinetry above it, enabling ventilation even in limited spaces and offering more room for creativity.
400 CFM Motor Class Ventilation System
Helps capture smoke, grease and odors from the cooking surface below for everything from simmering to high temperature cooking techniques like pan searing and stir-frying so you can experiment with confidence.
Perimeter Ventilation
Can handle up to a 65,000 BTU total output by pulling air from the edges of the hood and speeding up the movement of the air at the center
Auto Speed Setting
Detects via a heat sensor when your cooktop is in use, then automatically adjusts the fan. The feature keeps your kitchen ventilation up to speed with even your most adventurous cooking techniques, so you can pan-sear scallops without a second thought.
Automatic Turn On
Provides intuitive assistance to help keep smoke and steam from building up in the kitchen. If the hood's sensor detects high-heat cooking on multiple burners while the controls are off, it will automatically turn on the fan and set it to Power Boost.
3-Speed Electronic Glass Touch Control with Boost Function
Provides precise electronic control with visual feedback on settings and selections. Supports cooking methods such as pan-searing meats by initiating a 10-minute burst of high-speed ventilation to filter smoke and steam, then returning to normal setting.
Two LED Task Lights with Night Light Setting
Helps you fully utilize the extra cooktop workspace afforded by the hood's Low Profile Design. Brilliant dual LEDs let you keep a sharp eye on the back burner, and provide a convenient Night Light low setting.
Removable Filters
help capture the grease, steam and odors of high-heat cooking. Filters are removable for easy cleaning with soap and water.
65,000 BTU Rating
Pairs with any 30-inch and 36-inch range or cooktop with a total burner output up to 65,000 BTU.

Must install hood BEFORE tiling backsplash - lower portion of hood will not align with portion in the cabinet if lower portion is not fully back to the sheet rock of the wall. Installation requires patience to follow directions carefully as it is not as simple as attaching a few screws. The bottom panel of the cabinet is cut out. The end result is quiet and sleek and very effective. Lighting is excellent but the manual does state the bulbs have to be changed by a technician. My review would be five stars if installation was easier.

I would have given this a five start except for the poor install instructions. My cabinet depth is 14" versus the standard 12". A templet would have been very helpful alining the hood and the instructions better explained. After removing the old range hood I had a gap on the back wall. I first had to add tile up the back splash so that after the install the new hood would fit tight against it. the back wall.

Box arrived open and damaged via FedEx. Venthpod wasn't secure inside. Tiny scratch on front panel. KA offered to send out a new once but it was on backorder. We installed it anyways due to trades schedules and Ours. This is definitely a two-person install. Easy assembly Easy instructions all parts and pieces were there. Great section low noise bright lights. Looks excellent.

I took out a useless microwave with a recycling exhaust fan and installed the new kitchen aid fan. Normally I do not read instructions, but I found these very helpful. The hardest part was cutting out the the bottom of the existing cabinet and the hole in the top for the vent pipe. Even so I had the unit in and through the ceiling in about an hour and a half. I put in the pipe and insulated it to the roof. I chickened out about cutting a hole in my roof and spent a week trying to find a roofer to put on the roof vent. I can now cook bacon inside and even use the wok without stinking up the house. It was definitely worth the effort.

the side brackets for a 30 inch cabinet will not work. the hood is 26 inches wide. So if put the bracket as told on inside flush the space between the two bracket are more than 26 inches. I have seen other reviews to add shims . which I will do. plus will have to cut the bracket at the back to make them fit to go up into the cabinet. This is so uncalled for your company to design it to have to do all these things to fix. Maybe you have put brackets for a 36 inch cabinet in the 30 inch box. I am not one to complain. This is to help you all to fix the problem. I will call when I finish this to see if you have a bracket that will work

Love this hood. It is extremely low profile (~2.5” below cabinet) and very quiet, especially at low speed which is nearly imperceptible. Installation of this hood is a bit more complicated than most hoods that just need four screw holes and a hole for the vent pipe. With this hood you remove most all of the bottom panel of the cabinet and screw large brackets to the gable walls of your cabinet. The perimeter vent system with hidden grease filters is an elegant touch that looks nice from all angles. CFM output seems good at all speeds and the boost is nice for those moments you broil something in the oven too long and have lots of smoke!

Kitchen Aid Range Hood Glad to have bought all Kitchen Aid appliances finally. The Range Hood, as with the others I’d well designed with common sense features, with a few improvements the Range Hood would be easier to install. Firstly the power cord would be best connected at the side of the unit, current position at top was inconvenient for install & location. Secondly the installation bracket segment of the installation instructions is incorrect, position 3 did not work for my 5/8 cabinet so I used position 4 as if it were 3/4 & still needed the washers. The description for step 3 on page 11 is brief but not wrong, the illustration unfortunately confounds everything. Contrary to the illustration I had to notch the bottom of the back of the cabinet so the bracket could be installed higher with the flat section at the base of the lower bracket just beneath the cabinet side panel edges as in pic after install as in pic. I had to remove & redo bracket location 4 times dry fitting everything with the cabinet off the wall to ensure a snug fit. The 4 hooks to suspend the unit until final positioning completed is ingenious but of course complicated the equipment & therefore this part of the installation. Hope this helps!

I wanted an undercounter hood and I had existing cabinets and traditional hoods were too low. This one fill the need but required significant installation modifications for me. I like the 3 speed fans and its quiet on high compared to my previous microwave vent hood. The task lights are nice with two settings. Wish there was a even a lower settings. Generally I am very pleased and one downgraded one star because it was not easy to install. I wish I could give a 4.5 rating because I like the look and function after installed.

Bought the Under-Cabinet Vent Hood, and was really excited, because I wanted all KitchenAid products in my newly remodeled kitchen. Unfortunately it arrived with a part missing and I am still waiting to get it installed. I do like the vent hood, it is very quiet, and glad to have purchased it. Just wish I can get the support from KA after spending so much on the product. Giving 4 stars since it arrived defective.

This is an excellent product that fit the given space above our KitchenAid range-top unit perfectly. The unit is compact yet provides excellent lighting and vent draw for our cooking needs

I would shop around more before buying this again...two difficult service trips to replace circuit boards and another to replace a different board.

This hood is sleek, contemporary and very functional. I get many compliments on this hood and I love how easy it is to clean.

Works great, very quiet and the low profile make the kitchen seem bigger.

I bought this to replace an older KitchenAid vent damaged by an electrical surge. The unit is very well built and made of quality material. HOWEVER, the installation instructions are horrible. The screws and bolts are not identified with a picture. The bolts to join the upper unit to the lower unit were too short to reach between the two parts. Good luck with the installation. You are on your own. Hope you live close to a hardware store.

We installed it easily a week ago and used it several times. The low profile is perfect for our tighter kitchen and it really seems to exhaust well. Tried it searing a brisket and worked very well. Impressed with the quiet efficiency of it.

The low profile fit my space over the stove perfectly.

Nice hood, easy to install. I did a custom installation, built the cabinet to fit including recirculating vent. The project came out looking great. The only downside is the hood is noisier than I expected.

Product is great the installation manual for those of us who don't do this type of work all the time, is horrible. No mention of the need to shim the sides of the 30 inch cabinet. No illustration in the manual of the installed unit shimmed.

Installed in September 2002, lights stopped working after 3 months. Incredibly disappointed in the product.

Attractive, slim design. Works great and nice lighting. But the electrical board died at three years. Still waiting to see if the replacement part is available. It seems like for $800 ish plus installation we should have gotten more than three years from it.

It’s not expanding anything doesn’t work lights don’t work can’t see front panel called fir service on brand new hood need parts you can’t find called your representatives only thing they could do fir me is quite your warranty policy. I want a need hood without waiting months especially my new stove did not also work when delivered. Seems like Kitchen Aid doesn’t care about their customers delivered two new products that didn’t work how r u going to make me happy

I love the LED light — so bright. The ease of cleaning the filters and the different settings of the fan are really good features. Fan is so quiet compared to what I had before.

There is nothing not to like about this hood. It's modern and works really well. We have it vented to the outside, so no more smoke in the kitchen. We had a really difficult hood set-up to replace and this was just what we needed. Highly recommend.
