  • I brought this microwave 2 months ago and love it,

  • I bought it about 2 weeks ago and am now in the midst of installation. The product arrived after a good week of ordering, well packaged. The installation instructions were good, all parts were included.... except a transition piece from a rectangular to a round vent... so I'm having to hunt this down right now. Overall the microwave works great (yes - we tried it out real quick w/out having the vent connected). The little light under the microwave is 2000 lumen and more decorative vs highlighting the food being cooked. We're immediately exchanging it with stronger 4000 lumen bulbs. Once those 2 changes are done, I'm sure we'll enjoy the microwave greatly for many years.

  • Purchased this for my kitchen remodel and could not be happier! When cooking on the stovetop if the steam becomes to much the fan adjust speeds on it own. Cooks food great with presets that are also user friendly and has two cook spots available. My son uses it for popcorn and the presets for that are near perfect. In addition to the microwave i purchased the dishwasher and am currently waiting on the matching range to arrive but sadly could not afford the refrigerator, but i think i know a company that can #whirlpool. Thanks for the great product.

  • I replaced a combination microwave /convection oven. FYI those things don’t perform either function very well. You have a 700 watt microwave along with a convection oven that takes 20 minutes to preheat. So, needless to say I am over the moon happy with this microwave! The sensor cooking works well. I did remove the shelf in the middle, you cannot sensor cook anything unless it’s sitting on the turntable. I bought the steamer to steam veggies in the microwave, that is nice too. Cooking is extremely quiet, exhaust fan is quiet on low. The cooktop light is dimable for a night light. The end of cooking timer is a nice tone rather than beeping.

  • The trim around the door is deformed right where the top hinge is located. This was not noticed until after the unit was installed and it was discovered the door would not open. I contacted Whirlpool immediately had a long discussion and sent pictures of the defect. So now I must wait for a service company to come out and "diagnose" the problem and then order the part or parts needed to make it right. Of course this means there will be further delay waiting for the part(s) and then having to reschedule another service visit. Seems like quite a waste of time. Meanwhile my wife can't use the microwave since she only has one hand available.

  • I bought this to replace a 12 year old Kenmore (I suspect it was a rebranded Whirlpool). The new one is strikingly similar to the old one, but with new cool features. The best is the nonstick finish on the interior. The position of the hood light (toward the back) has much better coverage tha the front mounted ones, it is also brighter. The power level option, which I use a lot, seem to be more balanced than the old one. With more and shorter cycles to mitigate the cooling between each cycle. The hood fan still has three levels, but the low level is somewhat quieter and the high is a bit faster, all good. The size is 1.9cf and apparent didn’t really need the full 2.1cf of the old one, because, even knowing the difference I don’t notice it. After five weeks of use I am very happy with this microwave oven / range hood.

  • I bought this a month ago when ours died on us. Best customer service ever from Ware Appliance in Ankeny IA.

    Maglud5103/19/2022 01:48 AM

  • I purchased this a month ago to replace the smaller 1.7cu ft. Whirlpool that died after 7 years. I'm okay with planned obsolescence considering the price--Whirlpool just means something different than it did 30 years ago. Works well enough. We use 5000k light bulbs in our house, so I tried to switch, but these no longer take standard appliance bulbs and Whirlpool only sells the more yellow bulb. Not a big deal--but they should expand their bulb color type that they sell. Outside of that, the only annoyance is the microwave forcing you to open the door anytime a job ends if you're trying to add more time. Why?? My complaint is the top mount option for the venting. The installation instructions call for you to slide the damper assembly into slots on the damper plate on top of the microwave. My old one has this plate, just like the instructions, but the new one does not. there's no way to attach the damper assembly. Tried to lookup the part, but Whirlpool only lists parts for non-warrantable appliances. Transferred me to warranty, and the model is so new, they can't find it either. how does no one at Whirlpool have access to the new model? So instead, they've twice now sent me a damper assembly (so now I have 3) and no damper plate, meaning I still cannot install my brand new microwave. The lack of communication between Whirlpool's parts and warranty departments is a joke and the amount of time and energy spent trying to get a damper plate sent is frustrating.

  • Purchased a microwave. Not even a month later the screen became unreadable. Contacted Whirlpool numerous times. A customer service agent sent a repairman to a completely different city/address. Repairman called after nobody answered the door. When we figured out he was sent to the wrong address, repairman said I lived outside of his area. Contacted whirlpool again. Said a repairman in my area would contact me. No call from anybody. Waited a few weeks waiting for repairman to call. I tried to contact whirlpool but couldn’t get an agent to respond. And now whirlpool wants a review?! Avoid this company!!!!

  • I bought this a month ago and love that it matches my black whirlpool fridge (I am in the minority who doesn't love stainless). The blue numbers also match my existing range (sorry, not a whirlpool). All the features and the look is absolutely perfect. However, I will say, I assumed it had the same finish on it that the fridge does and it does not. The fridge has some clear coat or something that just does not show fingermarks. Its quite impressive as you expect black to show every little mark. The microwave does not have that, but nothing a can't fix with a microfiber towel. Otherwise it is absolutely perfection and looks so classy in my kitchen.

  • I bought this as a replacement and after almost two years it’s doing the exact same thing that a lot of you all are complaining getting.a error code that the door is not closed this is not a cheap microwave their should be a recall on this by whirlpool

  • So I bought this new Whirlpool 1.9 to replace my 20 yr of microwave. Both are over the range with vents. To remove the old microwave was a piece of cake. Now here is where the problems begin. The installation instructions for the new microwave are so hard to follow. I am a do it yourself person and I can follow and install most any appliance. The measurements for the mounting bracket. Good luck. Instructions for outside vent location. Says the cut out is on the bottom of box. If you find one please let me know what it looks like. For these reasons I gave it 3 stars. So far after I spent all day to install this microwave. The operation of it is good.

  • The Whirlpool Over-the-Range Microwave is an excellent addition to my kitchen. This unit is beautiful with an excellent stainless steel finish that matches my home appliances. The quality is byfar the best. Installation was extremely easy, and if we had any doubts, we just referred to the manual, which was very easy to read and understand. It adds life and a wonderful look to my kitchen. Upon the first use, I added a pizza slice, and I was surprised at the noise level. It's definitely quieter than the previous unit I had installed. The heat was distributed evenly and accurately. Once the microwave finished, it chimes differently, which I like and it also keeps alarming after each few minutes that your meal is ready. Overal, we are extremely please, and we definitely recommend it.

  • There are two major problems. 1) The sensor has broken twice within 3 months of purchase. 2) The inside walls burn when using the rack. It is unacceptable that we must cook on the lower and the rack at the same time to prevent the walls from burning. I have owned other microwave by whirlpool and this has never been an issue. The answer to our problem was to “remove and don’t use the rack at all”. Why would a microwave include a rack that has will burn the walls if you don’t make use of the upper and lower level simultaneously?

  • I was remodeling my kitchen and the old Microwave was purchased in 69!! It was way past time for an upgrade. The white looks great with the Whirlpool gas range. I like the Whirlpool name because I'm getting quality merchandise. It's a challenge to learn how to run it , the cheat sheet enclosed is invaluable help. I am learning. purchased in Feb, installed in March. It is a powerful machine. I would like to know if there is a pause feature, the stove lamp would be more helpful at the front of the stove. Other than that, still learning.

  • I replaced a 20 year old microwave with this model during our kitchen remodeling. I now have the microwave above the stove and we have the fan connected to an outside directed vent. It's beautiful and works nice. There are a lot of features that were not available on my old unit. I especially love the extra effort to have the fan vented outside. It has 3 speeds and clears out odors, steam and smoke super fast. There are also smaller models that look essentially the same size. Get this one if you can. I selected all Whirlpool appliances for my new kitchen and am very happy with all of them.

  • I've had this microwave for 6 months, long enough to know something about it. I purchased a whirlpool because of my past experience with their products. Even though this product is made overseas, as all microwaves are, I try to buy from companies that manufacturer at least some of their products in the US. The controls are convenient and easy to understand. It is easy to keep clean. It's quality is evident when you simply open and close the solid feeling door. The exhaust fan is very quiet. It also cooks beter than any other microwave ive used. I highly recommend this Whirlpool product.

  • I’ve had this microwave a few weeks now! I’m loving the “sensing” feature and the interior is definitely lots better than the shiny dull white coated version. This is my first microwave with a metal rack and I’m terrified to use it. I need to do my research. Overall this is definitely a great purchase and I’d recommend Whirlpool appliances to anyone hands down!!

  • So this Whirlpool Microwave is the exact same replacement that Whirlpool replaced because the exact same microwave that they just took out if my home after months of fighting literally burned food, put food on fire, smoked and sparked. So far the replacement is fine, but we don’t really use it as much because we’re afraid to use after such a bad experience with the other one that was in our house. I will attach photos of what the same microwave did to the food n how it would put items in fire when heating up food. So be careful with this much. Maybe our last one was a dude but you never know. I always like Whirlpool but lately there appliances are made poorly. Please also note the pictures attached are when the service tech did their test to see if the microwave really did burn the food n smoked and they still tried to say the microwave was working fine. After months of fighting they finally realized I was telling the truth.

  • Closed on new house on 6/15/2020. Microwave doesn't work. Home company says they will have to send Whirlpool out. Came out last week (6/30 or so), and they have to order a part. It is 7/4/20 and hopefully part will be in this week sometime. I would never buy this if it was not installed in my house. Everyone is unhappy without a microwave. I might have to buy one from Wal-Mart to set on my counter. Also the door is not aligned and repair man looked at it but can't fix. Really disappointed and wish they would just take it out. It is a piece of junk. Can't rate anything else since hasn't worked since we bought house.

  • I'm impressed with the Whirlpool Microwave Hood Combination. The packaging is informative and easy to understand, with clear instructions and diagrams. The product itself is sleek and modern, with a stainless steel finish that looks great in my kitchen. The microwave and hood combination is convenient and space-saving, perfect for small kitchens. The features and specifications listed on the box, such as sensor cooking and steam cooking, are impressive and functional. Overall, I'd highly recommend this product to anyone looking for a reliable and efficient microwave hood combination.

  • Unable to properly cook a "100 calorie" (1+ ounce) bag of microwave popcorn using "popcorn" setting or timed setting - popping stops after a minute when power ends and fan stays running. I suspect "Sensor" function is culprit. Full three ounce bag pops well on "popcorn" setting. Customer Service was unable to help other than suggesting disconnect power for a minute or having Service Tech make a house call with a $99 potential charge for a new microwave that's two days old. I'm disappointed that I overlooked other brands since I was pleased with the performance of our twenty-year old Over-The-Range Whirlpool Microwave.

    Tasker02/14/2019 02:52 AM

  • Our microwave came with our new condo. We liked the features on it. One day I put something in the microwave and it started arcing. The metal rack had made a burn mark in two spots on the inside. The 3rd party repair came out and said this happens occasionally. They ordered the touch up paint and new rack. Parts come in they come back out and make the repair. The touch paint didn't match the paint on the inside from the factory. Now we have two dark grey blobs to look at. Made several calls to Whirlpool and the comments were this is an acceptable warranty repair and nothing else would be done. I will never purchase another Whirlpool product again.

  • I hope to add more to this review since this is a very new purchase. We originally wanted a Whirpool microwave when our Kenmore had an issue with the doors hinges. Everyone was out of Whirlpools. Now that I have one, I’m happy with the stylish look, the fact that the end beeping is pleasant and my pets don’t run the other way or I had to silence it. The features, especially the keyboard, is brightly lit and works well. However, unless I’m missing something, the only thing that this unit doesn’t seem to have and I’m kind of thrown off, since why wouldn’t it, is a pause button or when we stop the cooking for a second, it shuts off to square one again. Otherwise I’m very happy with the unit thus far.
