  • Purchased this fridge, model WRB543CMJZ00, in January, 2021. Delivered in February, 2021. Extremely happy with the product for 2 weeks. Then noticed it was not cooling. Took one week for diagnosis. Compressor was only working at half capacity. Several calls to Whirlpool and the service provider to find out compressor is on back order. Will ship the compressor directly to us but then what? We are strapped. No money for another fridge. So worried this fridge will quit completely. Have to wait an additional 30 days before the request for a replacement can be started. Maybe we just got a lemon but Whirlpool has not been very accommodating.

  • Bought this October 2020. In June 2021 it broke down. Took 6-7 weeks from the time of the breakdown to the technician installing a “motherboard “. Then in September it broke again. It was down for another 2 weeks with the same symptoms. Technician took it all apart and said he found a plastic baffle that didn’t appear to be installed at the factory correctly. The unit works now but not very well. The upper shelves of the refrigerator do not cool to fridge temperature so cannot be used for perishable foods. the Whirlpool customer service department is very dysfunctional. We were getting very conflicting statuses of new parts every time we called.

  • Compressor died right at the end of 1 year warranty. It took over 2 weeks to get it repaired by a Whirlpool authorized repair facility. Now it’s 3 months later and the unit keeps freezing up and has caused considerable damage to cabinets and floor. Was told by the repair company Lake appliance repair that they don’t warranty their repair work and to contact Whirlpool. Whirlpool then told me the unit was out of warranty and they would offer a 1 time repair for good will. But it will be over a month before they can get a technician out to look at it. What a bunch of BS, I will never buy a Whirlpool appliance again!

  • Just moved into our new place several weeks ago and am in love with my Whirlpool apartment size fridge! Lots of room in a small space.

  • My wife and I bought this Whirlpool to replace a fairly new Bosch fridge that stopped working. Our home has a slender fridge nook so we weren’t left with too many options. Naturally, we were a bit nervous buying sight unseen since it wasn’t in stock at our nearby Home Depot. But we needed a fridge and are now in love. Four factors that make this fridge stand out, especially now that I can compare with our old fridge that was 3x the price… Design. Gorgeous stainless steel surface with high quality shelving. Everything seems modular, which makes it fun to refill the fridge with groceries every time. Surprisingly efficient for a small fridge without having to play too much Tetris (beer holder is fun too). The instrument panel on the front add a nice touch without making it look like cheap plastic. Cooling. Only took 2-3 hours from installing to get to our desired temps. Tested with thermometers, and it’s been our trusty ice box ever since. Our produce stays fresher and ice takes only a few hours to fill up. Have yet to try to the super chill function so can’t comment yet. Noise. Completely silent except the occasional ice making. This fridge is powerful without showing off with loud noises. Add that to solid customer service, and you have a 5 star fridge! Customer Service. One of the shelves arrived slightly bent. Called Whirlpool, and the agent already shipped a new one in the mail. +1 for amazing customer service!

  • Bought this fridge 1 year ago. It failed after 11 months. I've had 3 visits from a technician over a period of 2 months. He replaced the first part and said "It's fixed" and it wasn't. He came back many weeks later and replaced another part and said " it's fixed" and it wasn't. I see from other reviews here where people complain of bad service and bad quality builds and the only response from Whirlpool is to go online and schedule a service. They need to do a product replacement or refund when something fails under twelve months and two repairs don't resolve. A fridge is a must have to keep food cold. Buy a Samsung or LG. Avoid Whirlpool at all cost!!

  • This refrigerator is a complete rip off, I wish I had listened to the other low reviews. The refrigerator was great for the first five months then it just stopped working. I called Whirlpool for service under warranty and they said the soonest they could send someone out is two weeks and they would only replace the refrigerator if they determined it couldn’t be fixed after two months. So essentially I have to buy another refrigerator because Whirlpool doesn’t stand behind their products and does not care about their customers. I am beyond disappointed and will never buy another Whirlpool appliance and will be very vocal about the poor quality of their products and abysmal service.

  • Worked for 10 months, then stopped cooking. Been 3 months of no refrigerator and ongoing still. Whirlpool keeps sending third party technicians that can’t fix it, or aren’t trained to work with the highlight flammable free-on. Now machine warranty has expired after waiting four weeks for a chip part that still didn’t fix the machine. I’m waiting again to find trained tech in the area that can do the repair. Save yourself the trouble and hassle of going months with no fridge and speaking with many unpleasant customer service reps. Today I spoke to a lady and she was very understanding, one out of 10 reps. Whirlpool is not a trustworthy brand. There fridges are not built to last. Reading these reviews now many have the same issue.

  • My elderly parents purchased this fridge a couple of months ago and it was fine … for a while. First, the freezer stopped working. The Whirlpool technician came out and fixed it. A few days ago, the refrigerator part stopped working. The technician came out again and left us a full list of all the things that are wrong, need to be fixed and shockingly are on back-order. Meanwhile, my parents (in their 80s) have a giant not-working appliance with no idea when - or more accurately, if - it can be fixed. More than 30 minutes on hold with Whirlpool at this point, by the way.

  • I bought it a year ago. Looks beautiful inside and outside. I am satisfied.

    Toly02/09/2022 02:36 AM

  • I bought a new refrigerator- called within 48 hours as ice maker not working - water goes down inside of freezer and not into ice maker. I have spent numerous hours on phone and worked with a home service person and still cannot get anyone to replace. Now they need to send another service person to confirm ice maker is broken - in 2 weeks! Neither the retailer or Whirlpool want to take responsibility. Do not waste your money or your time with Whirlpool!

  • I bought this 3/21/21 The top quit getting cool and the bottom was completely frozen up. It was still under warranty and people came told me the seal was bad and used a heat gun to “loosen” it up.it continued after I defrosted it lost all my food and as of 4/23 is not working at all. Found out there was a class action lawsuit for this problem and they are still selling it. I’m out $1200 . Called whirlpool again parts unavailable and there is nothing they can do but offer $300 towards something that size on their website which is unavailable as well . Can’t be fixed no parts

  • I purchased this fridge in December. I noticed that it started freezing all my items in the fridge early on. The temperature is not correct inside versus what it displays on the outside (see other reviews). Now 5 months later the compressor is broken. It took 2 weeks to get that answer. New compressor is on back order and I am expected to to be without a fridge for who knows how long. I requested a replacement and was absolutely denied. And to add insult to injury the customer service reps are impossible to get a hold of. Overall bad purchase. Looks nice but the product and service I recommend you stay away from. I'm still shocked that a compressor fails in 4 months and they will not replace it. Bad business.

  • I bought this fridge for my apartment after looking at the European brands that were like 3x the cost, and those didn't even have ice makers! I'm not even sure there are many options with ice makers, but it was important to me since I entertain often. There seems to be a space for everything in this fridge, and when I have a big item that doesn't seem to fit, a shelf or door bin easily slides out of the way without me having to unload it. I love the fast drink feature. I popped in a bottle of rose into the freezer and an alarm went off after 30 minutes to remind me to remove it so it didn't freeze (which was great, because I was getting a meat and cheese board together for guests and had forgot!). Overall, I've found it a really thoughtfully designed fridge with space for everything.

  • I bought this a little over 11 months ago. Probably 12, but it took forever for delivery. Fridge Stopped working one day last week. Freezer still does keep things frozen but honestly the unit is not worth it. I have spoken with repair people and they are bringing in parts but when one lives outside a major city centre it never turns out well with these big corporations. Their suggestion of buying a better fridge seems to make sense. Could be the defrost timer.... Could be something else.... Who knows? It took two months to get the fridge delivered. Can't imagine how long this will take to fix. I'm sure that no matter what happens, this will cost me money, time, lost food and Whirlpool will not care to do anything about it. I'd say "Prove me wrong Whirlpool", but that would be setting myself up for another disappointment.

    OliverHatesHisFridge08/13/2021 06:45 PM

  • I’ve had this fridge for 4 months & it hasn’t worked properly for the last month. There have been 2 separate Whirlpool approved technicians, one who said they didn’t repair this model & the other who replaced the compressor after waiting for the part to be delivered. It worked for 5 days after the repair and now the freezer is dead. I’ve sent emails, tweets and will continue to call customer service ( which gives attitude but no real service) until this inferior defective product is replaced or I am refunded. Whirlpool should be ashamed.

  • I bought this model in December 2020 and in August 2022, it stopped cooling. Same story as many of the other reviews here. I got it fixed but last week, it stopped cooling again and my repair person said it was the same issue - the control board part. Now, we can't buy the part to fix it again because Whirlpool doesn't make it anymore. How are you selling this model still if we can't buy the parts to repair a persistent issue? I reached out on Facebook like many of the replies to the reviews have asked us to and its been radio silence.

  • Hello Possible Customers. Run from this fridge. Mine has broken (in operatable) TWICE! I have owned it 3 years this month (July 24). I left my review Roy in Texas 2 weeks ago. Whirlpool was very quick to respond creating a case for me. I was hoping they were going to do the right thing. Responding to my review created a case and asked me to reach out to them. They messaged me seeming to be helpful. They asked if I had an extended warranty. I do not because I expected this fridge to FUNCTION more than 36 MONTHS. I have owned 10+ fridges in my life and 5 of them are still running 10+ years with NEVER A PROBLEM. Shame on Whirlpool for scamming their customers . Please beware!

    Roy in Texas07/22/2024 10:19 AM

  • I hear a irritating high frequency sound coming from the compressor of the 56032 unit.

    Mr. MAW11/18/2022 06:55 AM

  • I bought this refrigerator because it was 24-inches wide and counter depth, but there was a problem with the ice maker and Home Depot told me that no one in town was doing warranty work for Whirlpool. I also needed the door switched so it would open to the left rather than the right and no one was available to do it, not even someone at Home Depot. I requested that the refrigerator be returned, and they agreed to take it back, but I really like the size and other than those two problems, the refrigerator is working fine. I like it because it is small and fits the space I have in my small kitchen.

    Warren5204/30/2021 03:01 PM

  • I bought this refrigerator around two years ago. Within that time, the sensors for both the refrigerator and freezer sections broke. I was luckily able to replace the sensor for the refrigerator at no cost since the product was still under warranty (< 1 year). However, the freezer sensor is not a replaceable part according to Whirlpool technicians, so I am left with a half-working fridge. Looking at other customer reviews, reliability seems to be a consistent for not only this model, but across all Whirlpool refrigerators. You can also easily look up recent articles about class action lawsuits against Whirlpool for their faulty refrigerators. Do yourself a favor and avoid purchasing Whirlpool - they are clearly selling lemons.

    AvoidWhirlpool07/29/2023 09:30 AM

  • I bought this fridge from Home Depot and it sat for a week while I renovated my kitchen. When we plugged it in, it didn't work. Four days later, a service tech inspected and said there was NO FREON in the fridge, and that he had inspected three other fridges of same model with same issue. He needed to order parts to charge it - so now I'm two weeks without a fridge. FYSA, charging freon in the field vice factory should only be to extend the end of life of an old fridge, NOT FOR A BRAND NEW FRIDGE. And Whirlpool refused to acknowledge this and send me a new unit. Their solution was an extra six month extended warranty and $100 gift debit card. BUY SOMETHING ELSE, DO NOT BUY WHIRLPOOL. They built multiple fridges without freon and refused to fix their mistake by replacing my unit as a repair is not a satisfactory solution in this particular case. I don't write reviews ever but my experience has been so bad that I wanted to warn everyone away from this product. Seriously, who builds a fridge without freon and then refuses to replace the unit?

  • Bought this refrigerator in November of 2020 from A.J. Madison online. Finally received it in January of 2021. At 10 months, the ice maker broke and was replaced under warranty. In November of 2023 the defrost function stopped working and the refrigerator was no longer receiving cold air. The temperature inside could not go below 49 degrees. Since it was out of warranty, we were not able to get the Certified Whirlpool appliance repair company to return since they are more than an hour away. Whirlpool was able to convince them to come out finally on 2 January 2024. Their tech said it needed a new temperature sensor and should be back in 10 days to two weeks. Three weeks later I called the Certified Whirlpool appliance repair company (Appliance RX in Rolla, MO) They responded that the part in question was a non-repairable part and that I should contact Whirlpool. The Whirlpool representative I spoke to offered me a 20% discount on a new refrigerator. This has been an extremely disappointing experience. I would not recommend this refrigerator.

    Disappointed01/25/2024 08:52 AM

  • We have a small kitchen, so we wanted to down size our appliances. our kenmore frig and range did well for 30 years, but both needed serviced, so we thought it was time to replace them. So we looked for smaller refrigerator/freezer units, we came across the one, after purchasing a Whirlpool Dryer. We have had it up and running for a little under 2 weeks now. It’s a great frig. The features for us were a big plus, now that my wife and I are the only ones living here. The bottom freezer is great, ice maker a plus, but the storage drawer layout is what I like most, we also recovered 8 ft of square footage! It’s not a perfect appliance, the settings for freezer and fridge have preset settings. Ak(43, 39, 36, 34).
