  • I wanted QUIET.. I got it. This unit is small in front exposure with good sized large vent screens that are part of the visual appeal unlike, most The light is simple on off. VERY nice leds; with great lighting of the area. The fans has 3 levels with good pulling power on high and nice and quiet on low. The fan pull is mostly on the left side, noticeably, but all of them are like that. I'd give it an EXCELLENT rating if not for the installation instructions which, after the measurements for the holes are done, toss it aside and just have a helper hold it up while your screw it to the cabinet above. The "hangers" simply do not work and the 2 holes they instruct you to use to fix it to the SIDES of the cabinet simply do not reach, fit, or work in that manner at all. The manual writer never installed this thing..

  • Range Hood looks nice when installed. The LED light are nice. The reason for a range hood is to draft smoke and steam away from the rangetop. The design of this hood puts the suction of the fan only over the left hand side. It has barely adequate draft from the left side, and there is no draft from the right. It is able to hold a single piece of toilet paper up on the left side... and it can't hold that up on the right side. An abysmal design. I'm done with Whirlpool... it is fitting their range hood can't suck up a piece of toilet paper on the right hand side, because their design is pure @rap!

  • Purchased this hood with my house - spent extra on the hood and extra for the external vent - only to find that the "design", according to whirlpool customer service, is to only vent from the left hand side. The right side actually blows a little. Even on the highest setting, smoke is NOT vented out. It just floats past the grease screens and into the kitchen ON BOTH SIDES. Whirlpool states that since it is "working as designed" it is not covered under their product warranty. Avoid this product! When Whirlpool comments and says to please contact them - I already did. They have zero interest in making this right. Told me I must contact the seller (my home builder) and we all know how that will play out.

  • This product has a major design flow. Whirlpool will send a technician to investigate as you will any way complain that the hood does not do what it supposed to do. Since there is no 'defect' Whirlpool will inform you that they cannot do anything as the product is not broken. But when i inquired from them if the product itself is the issue they choose not to respond. Any defective product (at manufacturing itself) should be recalled and replaced with a non defectives product. Unfortunately this seems not the case even if it is under warranty. Guess i have to reach other sources to get this resolved. happy to share the photos and Video on other social platforms on why potential buyers should avoid this product.

  • Our home was built by Meritage and we have noticed for over a year that the suction seems to be terrible with this range hood. I have checked everything. The left side has ok suction but the right side has literally no suction whatsoever. It looks like there is one blower attempting to take care of both sides. Checked the lever and its set to vent outside of the home and I can see the outdoor duct cover open very little when range hood is turned on. Confirmed there are no obstructions with a tube camera. How can whirlpool make something like this. Clearly they had to know this did not work. Whirlpool has been my steady for 3 homes across three states. Now I am really considering trying another manufacturer

  • I bought this unit more for the lights than for the fan. The lights were great, but within 6 months they dimmed and stopped working. The repair guy came and said he needed to order parts. Three months later he came back only to find he ordered the wrong part. I'm not sure if that is really the case or if the unit is a complete dud. It has been 2 months now and I haven't heard from him. When I contacted whirlpool I got the run around. They couldn't find my work order, the repair guy didn't update the records. This is ridiculous. I know it is not an expensive unit, but my builder grade fan that this one replaced was working fine after 28 years. I only replaced it because I wanted stainless steel. I am so disappointed with Whirlpool and this product. ZERO STARS it is a piece of junk.

  • I installed the unit about a year ago and the lights burned out already. Turns out you can't just replace the bulb with a normal bulb. They come in the casing and are specially made by Whirlpool. Each bulb is $71.00! It appears simply replacing the bulb requires a service call. The unit is also quite a bit noisier than expected. Would not recommend.

  • I cook quite a lot and have had all kinds of range hoods, from the cheap ones under a microwave all the way up to professional ones. This one is a piece of junk, and I guess we get what we pay for. The price is great but the product can`t even suck vapor from boiling water, it`s super weak. To make it even worse, the fan is positioned on top of the left side only, so the right side is 0% suction power, and the left side is probably 20% since it`s very weak. It also sounds like a gigantic airplane turbine in your kitchen when on max speed (which is the one I`m using when measuring its weakness.) I called whirlpool and they say there`s nothing they can do about it, that I could try and sell on ebay then buy a different one. Couldn`t care less about my feedback as a customer. So yeah, I`m buying a different brand.

  • Terrible. Terrible. Terrible. This product does NOT suck but it should. Completely useless. Looks pretty but does nothing but make noise. Lowest Cubic Feet Per Minute of ANY vent hood I have ever seen. Did I say this thing is terrible? Useless. Do NOT buy this piece of junk. Buy something that has at LEAST 400 Cubic Feet per Minute (even every microwave hood combo I have seen does at least that). Worst vent hood I have ever seen!!!! Terrible

  • This was installed at my new home by Gehan Homes ( The builder ) and i should have gone through the reviews before they installed this unit at my new home. The house smells all the spices after cooking and this hood is not doing what it supposed to do. it just make it worse ..

    Amin02/09/2022 01:06 PM

  • For the price it was okay. It's simple and looks great. However, the built-in fan is positioned horribly. There won't be much suction on the right side even if you blast it on high. I would have paid extra for something better.

    Tech12305/25/2019 04:27 AM

  • Poor design for the cost. This hood was selected and installed by our builder. The hood only has decent pool from the left side - where my small burn is. I turned on the vent at its highest setting and placed a paper towel on both side. The paper towel stayed on the left vent, but the towel on the right side did not - it floated down to the stove top. Super disappointed.

    bummed_out_buyer09/30/2020 02:13 AM

  • Meritage Home built the house and installed the 36" vent hood. After moved in, we found out that only half of the 36" hood has suction power. Called Whirlpool Warranty, they sent a tech. who confirmed the problem. The tech said that it was the design, and there was nothing he could do. Why would Whirlpool sell an 18" hood and claim it is 36"?

    wrs102/12/2020 09:50 AM

  • I have this non-working range hood in my kitchen for more than 2 months. After waiting for 10 days for the technician to come, he came to explain that the motor need to be replaced. He ordered a new motor and I waited for another two weeks. The technician called me to say that he received the wrong part. He placed an order for the part again and it has been 31 days and still counting. More than 2 months and this item. The carbon filter for this range hood is hard to find and Whirlpool will direct you to parts retailer who charge around $100 for the carbon filter. Customer service is of no help after mulitple calls they say you have to wait until the part come and the technician will call you to confirm when it will be fixed. So far he didn't call back and he is not replying to my text messages and calls.

    A.Noman10/23/2018 01:24 AM

  • Like others have mentioned, the suction fan is located directly above the left side of the hood so you only get suction from that side. Literally no suction from the right side. It's also kind of loud.

    Arya308/24/2020 06:11 AM

  • This hood was installed in my home when I purchased it. It only pulls from a small section in the rear of the hood and performs poorly. Not worth the cost.

    MikeFriend07/24/2020 05:20 AM

  • Our builder installed this as an “upgraded venthood”. It only suctions on one side so I can only cook certain items (like searing and such) on one side of my range. Unfortunately it’s the side with all my small burners. It also isn’t a very strong suction even at the highest setting. So much for that “upgraded” expense.

    AP Home Owner06/09/2020 09:42 AM

  • At first, I noticed that only the left side of the hood was working property and decided to remove the grease filter to see why. The unit only has 1 fan that isn't placed in the middle of the "36 inch hood". Now that my grease filter is broken and needs replacing, I can't find a website selling any replacement filters.

    Mwang08/01/2020 06:45 PM

  • Received this with my new home . Used for 1 year and hoped it'd work one day. The product is poorly designed and does do what it's supposed to. I even tried replacing with new filters. Somehow it seems only one side has suctions, and that's too negligible. Overall, I feel cheated.

    bshar03/25/2024 03:33 AM

  • I bought this from Best Buy in November 21 for this project.(RETURN POLICY 15 DAYS) Trying to install in an IKEA kitchen. American cabinets have a void in the bottom when the hood is installed. IKEA does not have avoid. no recirculation. 15" from the back covers the vent plate totally. Working on finding installation data, no help from Whirlpool.

    NWAT08/04/2022 03:42 AM

  • I replaced my builder grade hood with this one and am in love. It has 3 speeds which is very nice and it looks more high end. I love it

    KennyB02/08/2022 07:39 AM

  • It looks sleek, it's quiet, but my complaint is that I was specifically looking for a hood that didn't stick out too much, I purchased this one because it was supposed to be 18" 5/8 deep and it turns out it isn't. It's a bit over 20" deep. Specs are wrong and once it's sold, it's not refundable. Fun!

    Karyne12/30/2023 06:39 AM

  • I really like the style of the buttons. My biggest complaint about the old hood was the plastic covering of the buttons. I had to press them a dozen or so times before it would turn on. I don't it be as noisy as others I have had.

    Cynt01/10/2026 09:50 AM

  • I purchased this with my new home and must agree with all the reviews it does nothing at all. The fans make a lot of noise when they are on and the house still smells like the food you make or if you use any oils or anything
