If you want a frig without fancy features that could cause the frig not to work, this is it. Just plug it in and set the temp to use. But there are quality control issues (see photos), freezer door corners have air gaps (the metal edges did not meet correctly), section of edge of frig door had no paint; design issues (see photo), bottom drawers have not retaining clip such that the whole drawer can slide all the way out of the frig, the frig door has no stops to keep it from swinging all the way out unit it is parallel to the frig opening. I had a Amana made by Maytag own by Whirlpool which did not have the same quality and design issues.

I did a lot of online searches for best refrigerator and came up with this Whirlpool 22cf bottom freezer. So glad I went with this one. I'd never had a bottom freezer before but I think it's actually better than top freezer. No more stooping down to see what's 'lost' in the back of the bottom shelf. Everything is at eye level and this thing keeps things super cold so i think my food will stay fresher longer. makes ice really fast too. LED lights inside top/bottom make everything very visible so nothing getting lost in there anymore. I highly recommend this one. Looks great in my kitchen too. Upgrade from my 12 year old frigidaire top freezer.

Functionally, it works great! The freezer door is a big improvement over the previous refrigerator's bottom freezer, which required getting on my hands and knees to see inside. However, the build quality is disappointing, with foam insulation left untrimmed or exposed in several areas. Temperature adjustments are limited—you can only select a number on the dial. Even the old refrigerator, though analog, allowed finer adjustments by moving the dial between numbers.

Our doors are extremely hard to open & now we have ripples in the stainless which looks horrible. This is our first Whirlpool appliance & will be last for sure! You notice it from the front door walking into house.

We bought this refrigerator 6 weeks ago and I like it very much. The Pros: I like the way the stainless steel looks, although it does show fingerprints; not too bad since there are only 2 adults living in our condo. But this may be a consideration if you have small children. Because it is top cool and bottom freezer, I have a much larger cool space at the top which is what I use most. It is convenient that the most used part of the refrigerator is at the top. The door shelf is large and holds all of our condiments and more with space to spare. The shelves are moveable so I could customize the space for our needs. The light is very bright and I am able to see all parts of the refrigerator. I have had side-by-side refrigerator/freezers for years so I needed to adjust to the freezer on the bottom. Once I organized it I found I liked it a great deal. The ice maker works great. (Remember to throw away the first 3-4 full ice bins before consuming). Since we live in a small space, I was looking for a refrigerator/freezer with maximum sq ft that fit our condo. This product does just that. The Con: The vegetable bins (2) are very small. I sometimes use the door shelf to store fresh items when we first do the grocery shopping; not a deal breaker for us. If there are more people in your family, you will probably need to shop for fresh items a few times a week. I am happy with our purchase and can recommend it.

I am 76 and live alone. I bought this fridge because of its adjustable shelves. Before the warranty was up the piece that supports the vegetable bins had to be replaced. It is broken AGAIN. I removed the glass shelf and saw the frame that holds the support is broken as well. There is a slot in the bottom of the refrigerator between the bins. I am wondering if a piece is missing. Lowes delivered it to my home. This refrigerator does not live up to a warranty of merchantability. I have been away for a out 9 of the 15 months I have owned it so it has hardly had heavy use. I will be surprised if Whirlpool posts this review.

Have had it for a week and noticed the part that attaches the door to the refrigerator is hanging off the side. Seems like to get it fixed, I have to pay someone to come fix it! Also on top of freezer door in joint there is a gap which is noticeable.

I purchased this refrigerator sight unseen during a time when there was a shortage of refrigerators. That was a mistake. I feel the quality and performance are sub par, especially the produce bins. The bins DO NOT slide easily in and out but must be "jockeyed" back and forth in order to get them to slide in. The crisper humidity controls are little plastic tabs that stick out toward the front of the fridge and are in danger for being damaged by the drawers each time I try to close them. The freezer has been AWFUL, frosting up frequently. Often the light in the freezer won't turn on if the ice build-up is severe. The first time I actually took a picture was June 12, 11 days after installation (by the time I took the photo I had scraped off a lot of the ice). A repairman was sent out and realigned the freezer drawer. The second time I photographed was July 13. I cleared out all the frost and replaced my freezer items, thinking maybe this was a fluke. The third time was today, July 19. I will be requesting a repairman once again. If there was any way to return this refrigerator and get a better one, I would. Meanwhile I'm just plain frustrated. I also miss the "door ajar" alarm feature of my previous fridge. The rest of this refrigerator is fine: lights, bins on the door, shelving. The freezer is not as spacious as I thought it would be and it is easy to lose items through the wire baskets but it will suffice.

We bought this as a replacement fridge. We were stuck on a size since we have our fridge built into the cabinet. I like the look of it. I wish the fridge arm screws weren’t noticeable. It makes it look “cheap”, I don’t like the LED light inside. I need to change them. I love the icemaker but the horizontal divider makes no sense. I’d like to remove it but it looks like you can’t and when I call to ask, it’s an hour wait on the phone. The shelves on the door are nice and deep. I love that, but there is no place for your butter.

Our fridge we have had for almost 30 years, died right after Christmas. We had always wanted a bottom freezer style. We ended up removing a cabinet above the fridge to make the size we wanted work. We love how bright it is inside and it is so easy to access the things we often need. This unit came with an ice maker, we have never had an ice maker, so we hooked it into our RO water line. It is sooo nice to have ice all the time, the bottom freezer works well as we are not in and out of it that often. Time will tell on the reliability, but we did go ahead and buy a service plan as I know new appliances are reliable as they used to be.

I bought these two a month ago and bought a trim kit to connected the two and we loved them. It has become the spotlight of our kitchen
Gabe02/16/2021 05:49 AM
Bought this fridge as it scored well in consumer reports. However, when unwrapped and put in its place I noticed brown spots all along the sides of the refrigerator and along the handle of the freezer. This is unacceptable for 1, it is brand new, and 2 it is stainless steel. Would love to know what it is and if anyone else experienced it. Not touching it as I have no idea what it is .

Overall we are happy with our new Frig. This is our first top/bottom unit. Having the refrigerator on top make it so much easier to find things inside, no more down on your knees looking on the bottom shelf. We like the clear drawers and glass shelves, it is so easy to see everything. The extra room on the door for large items like a gallon of milk is great.. A few dislikes, you have to be careful of the ice maker when you are in the freezer. When you have the drawer open, ice can still drop and drop into the bottom of the freezer, you then need to fish out the cubes from from the bottom. I think there would be some way to tell the ice maker to stop cycling when the drawer is open. The set screws on the handle could be hidden better. Concern with bottom drawer, if you do not pull directly from center handle, the drawer moves unevenly and makes a clicking sound. We were told this is a common issue with bottom drawer units.

Nice refrigerator except that the “stainless steel” brushed finish on the door is rusting. Stainless is not suppose to rust. Still under warranty so we’ll see what Whirlpool does about it. Photos aren’t great but you get the idea. Rusting on the refrigerator and freezer doors in at least 6 places.

I hey, had my refrigerator just a little over a month and I dearly love it. It’s so nice and bright when you open it up with the lighting I love the adjustable shelving and I love the amount of space I have in the door for storage. It is just great.

This is an updated version of the Whirlpool refrigerator I had for 10 years purchased because it was one of two that would fit the space. The ice machine on our old one died after 8 years. The old one began to lose its ability to self defrost. Will see how long this one lasts. This refrigerator with ice machine is working as expected. Two caveats: The door must be pushed closed firmly. It is continually not quite closing and falling back open. The craftsmanship is not as good as before: side coverings that don’t quite meet and many screw holes are visible with no covers. This was not the case with our previous refrigerator.

Looks beautiful works great, is 5⭐️for me b/c of my additions.I kept the egg holder & white drawer on left from my previous fridge. The clear drawer on right I bought on Amazon, I can remove it anytime I need more room in the fridge as everything in there is my breadmaking supplies that don’t actually need to be in the fridge. (In there for optimal preservation.) If I have a turkey or watermelon I can pull that shelf out and put in something big. (If it had come with those items I would’ve given 5*) The outside can get fingerprints so I bought stainless steel cleaner/polish and it works like a charm and reduces prints in the future, so I am pleased!

I've had this refrigerator for a couple weeks and so far it has met or exceeded my expectations. The freezer self-closes when the drawer is within a couple inches of being closed which is a nice feature since there's no alarm. After raising the front of the refrigerator high enough with the leveling legs, the refrigerator door closes on its own from a standstill at 90 degrees open (so no need for an alarm). The kitchen bar stools are just a couple feet from the refrigerator, and it's quiet enough that it's hardly noticeable when sitting at the kitchen bar. I've not installed the water line to the ice maker yet so can't comment on it's performance.

Within two days the freezer had to be on the lowest setting just to get +/-10 degrees temp. Earliest a warranty repairman can come is 1.5 weeks out. When I called for warranty service, they immediately tried to get me to purchase an extended warranty (That didn't make me feel all fuzzy inside). I have other appliances by Whirlpool and even though one of them had to be literally overhauled vs replaced under warranty, I gave them the benefit of the doubt but now, I'm not too sure about the new fridge life expectancy.

So far, so good. We've had this refrigerator about one month. Noticeable noise when water is filling ice cube maker, but not bad. Large refrigerator space ... lots of room ... door holds a lot of stuff too. Freezer drawer a little awkward, but as I expected. Stuff like frozen vegetable bags are piled into the drawers. I need to figure out a better way to arrange things. Overall, a nice looking refrigerator. I have a narrow refrigerator opening in my kitchen. There is a limited choice in narrow refrigerators. This one fits perfect and does the job.

I purchased my fridge on Memorial Day and waited almost 8 weeks for delivery. It was worth it. My favorite feature is the bottom pull out freezer and ice maker. So convenient. I look forward to many years using this appliance.

Bought this fridge May 2024. So far, it has been very good. I really like the layout of this fridge. It seems much larger than it actually is because of the way the space is arranged. I had a French door 25 cubic foot fridge before this that seemed smaller than this one. The black finish is also much better than my previous stainless steel because it hides fingerprints so much better. The only criticism I have so far is that this fridge runs a bit louder than my old one. I cannot hear it continuously, but for short periods of several minutes throughout the day I can hear it humming.

I bought this less than a month ago, therefore I am still in the glow of first love: it replaced a smaller, top freezer, very good, (only 13 year old) refrigerator still in very good condition.I needed something larger and had dreamed for some times of not having to kneel on the floor to get veggies out of the crisper.I really like this easy access, great visibility and cleaning ability, in addition to the spaciousness. As planned before ordering, it was necessary to move the cabinetry around to allow for the larger size and the water outlet for the ice maker had to be re-routed; the whole thing took two handymen less then two hours to finish the job. Very worth it.

Our refrigerator was delivered on March 13, 2025. It does what it should do in keeping everything cold and frozen at the correct temperature. Drawers inside work reasonable well, one bottom draw does need an extra push to completely close. The main doors close tightly without extra effort. What I wasn’t happy about were the 3 screw holes that were left empty on top of the refrigerator from where the door hinge was changed to the other side. Also, the finishing strips on the top corners of the refrigerator body are not flush. It is as if they used the wrong part for this refrigerator. I have made numerous calls to Home Depot and Whirlpool and no one wants to take responsibility. Written on 04/23/2025
