  • The cook top surface is scratching from normal use, and cleaning. Small bubbles were forming in the black coating on the cooktop surface. The top oven is small, so you can only cook a tray of cookies, or small crock dish. The bottom is normal size, but doesn't cook anymore evenly than my old stove. This stove cooks from the top, rather than from the bottom like most ovens. You have to remember to push the convection button, or it doesn't cook well at all. Not very impressed, the convenience of having two ovens is nice, but the cooktop surface is not gonna last at all! Hey should've been able to provide a better cooktop surface.

  • I bought this item brand new from Big Sandy. I have had it for a month and not used the oven much. I noticed a slim piece of something dark and hard inside the top oven when it was delivered. I thought maybe it had to do with packaging. Then, I noticed it again a couple weeks later. I had to put my head in the oven to spot the two cracks on the inside of the top oven. The cracks are on the inside base of the top oven. I checked the bottom oven, because I had not used it and I saw bubbles in the finish. I called Big Sandy and they sent two techs out today. The cracks go all the way through the finish and the one tech said those bubbles in the bottom will eventually crack too. The service men called Whirlpool while they were at my house. They did a video call to show the defects. Whirlpool’s solution is to send me epoxy to put on the cracks! Unbelievable! I spend a small fortune on a brand new oven and they want me to epoxy several layers to cover their defect. Oh they said the bubbles would be ok. This school teacher learned an important lesson today.....Do not waste your hard earned money on Whirlpool products. Even the service tech today was not satisfied with Whirlpool’s response. I wish I could give zero stars. I am going to look into filing a complaint with BBB.

  • I bought this double oven range to replace my previous one made by Maytag. So far, I really like the range. It’s nice to look at, easy to clean, and allows me to bake or roast different foods at different temperatures at the same time (great for the holidays). However, the craftsmanship could be better. I returned the first range I received due to the cooktop gasket being defective. Although it would probably work fine, it was ugly and made the cooktop look used and old. The second range I received was the same but not quite as bad. The ranges displayed at Lowe’s and Home Depot do not have this defect, and the delivery guy said that every Whirlpool range he’s delivered has this issue because the manufacturer doesn’t wait for the gaskets to cool before applying the protective plastic to it. When that plastic is ripped off, it pulls the top layer of gasket with it. I asked him if he’s mentioned this to Whirlpool, and he said “Many times! But it hasn’t changed for years.” I, too, complained to Whirlpool when returning the first range I received. It seems like an easy fix with replacing the gasket, but they were unwilling to do so as cosmetic parts are not included in the 1-year warranty. Also, I was instructed to turn on the ovens for 30 minutes on 350-Fahrenheit before using them. I did so, and the chrome racks look splotchy now. I never had this problem with my Maytag. Quality control seems to be subpar with particular electric range at Whirlpool. That said, I do like my range so far. I just wish it looked nicer, as it is brand new.

  • Bought this for my fiancé for Valentines Day. She loves to cook and mentioned last year during the holidays about how a double oven would make things go so much quicker. She's already put it to full use and loves how this oven performs.

  • We bought this about a month ago and within a week the top looked like it was bubbling. Is this normal or a defect? I have only cleaned it with the ceramic top cleaner. See pictures. I am not happy with this but the rest of the unit is fine.

  • I've had this oven almost 6 months and am really enjoying it. I use the smaller oven 90% of the time. Yes, the bottom oven door will land on your toes if you're not careful but that seems obvious if you look at the design. What I wasn't expecting was a 1 1/2" gap between the back of the range and the wall. I'm not talking about the gap between the counter and the cooktop. There are two "bumps" on the back of the range that prohibit it from sitting flush to the wall. This leaves a fairly significant gap for things to fall through. I'm unsure how to fix this absent buying a costly piece of granite for a backsplash. Calls and emails to the manufacturer have not produced any help.

  • This was delivered to my home on 1/30/2024. The installers assembled the oven and put both oven doors on while out in the street on their tommy lift with busses, garbage trucks and general traffic driving by. Then, once they brought it inside, they used the top oven door and handle to push and pull the oven into place and level it. They bent the door. The inside glass of both oven doors is filthy...delivered filthy and I'm still waiting on ApplianceCare of Texas to get the right parts and clean the glass. ApplianceCare of Texas made the problems worse by breaking screws and trying to use frankenstein screws, AND put a scratch on the new oven. They ordered the wrong parts--TWICE. IT IS NOW MARCH 27TH, AND I AM STILL UNABLE TO USE MY OVENS. The first technician was clearly incompetent. The second technician showed up to my house with a huge attitude--he was a big dude with a HUGE Texas tatoo on his bicep--and knew knew I was home alone. He talked down to me and interrupted me the entire time. He told me to "bring my attitude down"...and at the end of it all--HE DID NOT HAVE THE RIGHT PARTS--AGAIN!!!!! It was confirmed by 2 people at Appliance Care of Texas that the entire top oven door was order and would be replaced, and that they would clean the inside glass of both doors. He didn't even apologize. The gaskets on both ovens drop fibers when opening and closing the doors. Two of the burners won't stay on high for any length of time. This is the absolute worst experience I've ever had with a major appliance purchase. The oven itself appears to have issues outside of the damage done by Home Depot installers and Appliance Care of Texas. I want this oven out of my house, and I want my money back. OR I want a brand new, clean, undamaged, unscratched, oven that the gaskets don't drop particles into my food. Whirlpool was contacted well over a week ago about these issues, and no one has gotten back to me. Home Depot has done nothing. Appliance Care of Texas is clearly innept, and treating a customer like crap. I ddn't pay $1550 to be treated like garbage. I am a surviving spouse of a US Marine killed in the line of duty, and I am appauled at what I've had to deal with. I am 53 years old, and this is the first oven I've ever purchased. I now wish I just had my old one repaired and/or refurbished. I am utterly disgusted and heartbroken at the same time. Shame on everyone. ***This rating/communication will not let me add images. • I bought this a month ago. I love the stove top, especially the large 16 inch burner. Food in my largest skillet cooks quickly and evenly. The only downside is that there is a mark on the large burner from the first use that I cannot remove. I really like the controls being over the stove instead of in the front where you can accidentally bump and turn on. The double oven is spacious. It is wonderful to be able to bake at 2 different temperatures at the same time. To use the controls, I suggest reading the manual first. It prompts you through the steps. But reading the directions first wals helpful for me. I haven't used the convection oven much. But I like that the lights come on when you open either oven door and kick off when you close it. It keeps me from leaving the light on. It does have an on/off switch so you can look with the door closed too.

  • This is so poorly designed and unusable. The stove top is fine. The ovens are a joke. Nothing fits. Just awful. Clearly not designed by anyone who actually cooks.

    Jill03/17/2024 12:22 PM

  • So far so good! Having a double oven is a dream come true! I got it for Xmas and couldn’t be happier! Only thing is that the glass on the cooktop has some “staining” that won’t come off no matter how many times I wipe them whether top is warm or cold. I had to use the self clean feature and that was fine but I set it for 3 hour clean and after 4.5 it was still going, it didn’t stop by itself. It looks great with the Whirlpool spacesaver microwave!

  • I never used the warming drawers for anything but storage so adding an oven was perfect for me. I am baking up a storm in this oven!! Thre bottom does convection and the upper is perfect for baking cookies and pies, broiling. I am very happy with the performance. Both ovens are capable of 500 degrees at the same time which has upped my sourdough bread and pizza game! If you are a baker, this oven is for you. The stovetop is a wonderful flattop and the left element has an extra ring which I use for my canner! So many functions! Worth every penny.

    Roseanna07/19/2019 02:51 PM

  • I have had this stove for 5 years now and it's the worst 5 years of baking in my life! I had the ovens re-calibrated by a technician while it was still under warranty and it still is 25 to 30 degrees low. I cannot bake sweet breads at all. The cook top is marginal, does not keep high heat consistently. I bought a Whirlpool frig and dish washer also, so considered this a BIG purchase. I am trying to figure out how to get a new stove and how to sell this piece of junk. I do not recommend this stove to anyone.

    mistake11/13/2024 06:27 AM

  • I purchased this item 6 weeks ago. I barely used it (I don't cook every day). Actually I haven't even tried the ovens. My problem is with the stove top. After being used a few times it started to bubble around the large burners, and I noticed foggy spots that are underneath the glass. Also, something that looks like a scratch mark? (Can't really feel it) . I am very disappointed, I didn't purchase extended warranty. How is this going to look in 2 years from now? This is a cooking machine, it's supposed to be designed for that purpose, it shouldn't be a delicate item. I don't want to have spent all these money on a poor quality product that will only cause problems.

    Cristina11/25/2021 06:51 AM

  • (After writing all this and taking photos, I'm unable to attach all the photos to the review. My apologies to the readers) Less than a month in use. I'm freaking out about the top. I've only used my best pans, put all the heavier and cast iron pans in the garage. I place them down gently. I don't slide the pans (although just stirring something will often cause them to move. Ugh!). I even got a top for it so when it's not in use it's super protected. Still a couple spots that at first I thought were stuck on food, but instead are little divets in the glass top. One was there out of the box but I also though it was just a spot I could wipe away. This is only after 3 weeks and treating it like a baby. This is my first new stove in 23 years. My first ceramic glass top. My sister raves about hers (not Whirlpool) and I like the look of the glass top as opposed to the open electric burner elements on my old unit. So I took the plunge. I'm a cook (not professionally). I love cooking. I loved the idea of having 5 burners available for when there's a lot going on. But I am terrified that the top is just going to keep getting scratched and dinged and eventually fail. For $1600 bucks it should be able to withstand gentle use. But here we are, two people, me the only one using it, and I just don't think it's going to last. I would hate to think what it would be like if it was a full house with kids and getting a lot more use. see pic - the whiter spots are ALL dings in the glass cook top. The larger one, at between 12 and 1 o'clock was there when unboxed. Remember, this is three weeks of light use. The bottom oven preheat - it seemed to take a lot longer than expected. It's called Rapid Preheat but, ummm, I didn't quite see it that way. I like the convection feature but so far have only used the bottom oven once. By the way, that bottom oven is way down near the floor! If you've got a bad back or are older, you'll want to think about that. The controls - so many buttons to press to make it start working. You gotta remember to hit that 'Start' button for pretty much everything oven related. Change the oven temp? Hit, for ex. each of 4, 0, and 0 buttons, then the correct start button. If you don't hit 'start' then, yep - it won't start. ;-) After 20ish years with an oven that refused to let oven bulbs live, it's great to finally see inside the top and bottom ovens without using a flashlight. Yep, I kept an 'oven' flashlight right on the counter top for years. The problem with this one is if you turn it on, it stays on. With all of the electric programming and configs available, you'd think they'd default to turn the oven light off after some set amount of time. Unless I'm missing it, even if the oven is off the light will stay on. The indicator lights for 'cooktop on' is on the left under the two burner controls. The 'hot surface' indicator is under the rightmost burner controls. I'm not gonna second guess this decision but it seems they could have move them further away for the controls so a user (particularly new to the oven) doesn't think one light is for left burners, one for right. And maybe different colors for the two to indicate the difference between on and hot. The warming element - when you press 'warm zone on', it prompts you to press 'start. But there is no warming zone start. You have to press the oven start button, either one. Weird. And to make it weirder, you can't press the oven cancel button, you have to press 'warm zone off'. See pic So, definitely a learning curve on this. Also some readjusting how you cook. Cleaning the top has to be done differently. Weirdly, don't use glass cleaner even though it's a glass top. I bought the cleaning set with scraper, cleaner, etc. The build is a bit iffy. The edge seal (sort of like a rubber caulk) around the cook top isn't uniform. Little indents where food and grease will find their way in short order. The right side panel isn't attached to the rear panel evenly, causing it to bow in the middle. See three pics - one shows rear top right (when facing oven from front) and one shows rear top left. The top right shows the misalignment where top left is better aligned). One shows a view looking down a metal yardstick. You can see the bow in the panel because through that gap you can see my flooring. The bottom oven door glass top corner is about 1.5mm shifted clockwise. The white molding near bottom left side that the glass is mounted to or against, is sticking out noticeably. See pics looking face on at yard stick against both the left and right sides showing the offset between top and bottom glass pan for oven doors. I had a floor mount 220v outlet which the new oven wouldn't fit past causing the until to stick out 5 or so inches. . I had to rerun my 220v up through the wall and install a wall outlet so the plug was not in the way of the oven. Luckily I was able to do this myself. Hiring an electrician - I'm sure it would be in the hundreds and you better hope there is slack in your 220v wire run. My last oven, the entire back bottom was recessed. This oven just has a selected area recessed, and it's higher up, does not start at the floor. See pic - cord with string attached. Behind that lower is the recessed area. Notice that there is frame there so your outlet and cord need to come above that frame.

  • We purchased this unit three months ago and have had nothing but issues. You can see others' reviews about the temperature inconsistencies and calibration issues. We've experienced all of those as well. However, the most alarming is how hot the front of the cooktop gets when the top oven is in use. At 350 degrees, the cooktop will be about 125 degrees to the touch. When the oven is at 400 degrees, the cooktop will be at 140+ degrees. Those temperatures are hot enough to burn a child's hand. The oven door and handle remain cool but the cooktop is dangerously hot. Yes, cooktops can warm up when the oven is in use but it shouldn't be a burn danger. I called Whirlpool and they agreed that it wasn't normal and scheduled a service call. That was 3 weeks ago. We have not heard back nor has a technician reached out. So for now, I either can't use the top oven or my kids can't come in the kitchen if I do. Another dangerous "feature" is where the vents are located. They have been placed directly under the control panel so if you want to change the oven temperature while it's venting, your hands are at risk of being scalded by steam. At this point, I assume Whirpool is waiting on a lawsuit from someone who has been injured before it's taken seriously. As one who doesn't write reviews (much less negative ones), I need other families with children to know the risks. The Whirlpool experience has been horrendous. We also currently have a brand-new refrigerator that's waiting for a back-ordered compressor that's been useless for 3 months. I'll save that for another post. If you read nothing else, here's this: Don't buy this oven. Maybe don't even buy from Whirlpool.

  • My husband Wilson bought this from poorer during COVID around 2021/2022. With 2 years the goal handle for the top oven broke. Last year the front left burner started mulfunctioning. The heat control was not working it stayed on high no matter how low you adjusted it, now only one zone of the 3 Zones on the burner works, last month the front right burner started malfunctioning, now we cannot control the heat it stays high no matter weather you set it to low or medium. So within 3 years it has fallen apart. I had high regard for this brand because my previous one lasted 20 years! What I got is a lemon

  • We love the extra places to cook on the range top! The different size cook top rings take a little getting used to, but are definitely worth having. The extra oven space is really awesome as well so 2 different things can cook at once.

  • My parents surprised me with this amazing range and I am so happy they did. It has 5 burners and super convenient when baking dinner and dessert at the same time. This range features a steam option to clean the oven. It's the best thing ever existed, the grime wipes right off. It's also very energy efficient. The energy savings mode will turn your display screen off when not in use. It features many settings including a sabbath setting which I thought was interesting. I've never seen that on any appliance I've had before. There's also a way to either take sound off when pressing buttons or leave sound on. I would highly recommend this range to everyone.

  • Purchased this stove a couple weeks ago. Everything seems to work fine but there is a film around and on the rubber strip along the range top. Made manufacturer, delivery and Lowes aware and only response was to send a sample of general surface cleaner. It will take something stronger but don't know what to use that will not interfere with integrity of rubber strip.

  • I am on my 2nd new one. The 2nd one does the same as the 1 st. Temperatures change - set for 375 goes up to 500 and wrecks food. One tech said it was calibrated, one said it couldn't be calibrated, one said there can be a variation in temps (and this is normal) of up to 60 degrees. um? no. One said using self cleaning wrecks "them". I haven't used it... See the video and image below. I am now stuck with an expensive oven/stove combo I can't use. I can't add the video. Scones- the temp went up to 500 burnt to a crisp. Smoke poured out of oven for 1/2 + hr. Top and right side on this one. Only top vent on the 1st one. Don't buy!

  • Had the oven for 2 months - top surface scratches easy with pans. Oven is a little louder with convection fans running but food heats evenly . Had to cut part of back plate sheet metal to make sure it sits flush against wall or else it stuck out a couple inches.

  • Overall this is a fantastic freestanding double oven and range oven with great features but has a huge flaw - the glass top. The most visible focal point. After the first couple times cooking, there was bubbling around both of the large burners. The stove was only 2 weeks old and only used twice. I painfully went through the store I purchased and through Whirlpool to get support to get corrected in the first 3 weeks I owned this stove. They turned over to a third party repair vendor, who ordered a new glass top. When they came to repair, the repair man took the replacement top out of the box and shook his head. It was worse and he said no way he would put that on my brand new stove and after looking at it, no way I would let him. It was covered in a filmy substance like grease and was scratched. The repair man told me I should go back to the store and get an entire replacement since the bubbling happened in less that 30 days. I did go back to the store through the original sales person and I did end up returning this stove. In the end, I chose to go with a completely different stove by a different company because I found out that apparently there are only 2 manufacturers of glass tops and all the companies use the same two. I was not taking a chance on a replacement by the same glass top manufacturer after this experience. Also, I went back and reviewed other reviews the glass top issues are a theme throughout even on those with high ratings. I really wanted this free standing double oven and stove with controls in the back for many reasons. WhirlPool, lost me on this product due to this glass top flaw and the experience and my time wasted getting addressed (at least 8 hours on phone waiting for support and arranging schedules to be available for call backs and repair window). The stove is a focal point and nobody wants to look like they have a damaged or unclean stove when it is brand new stove. The stove I was replacing was a glass top Kenmore elite double oven that was over 15 years old. I never had an issue with the glass top or keeping it clean. I was only replacing our stove because our fridge went out and we decided to replace all our white appliances with stainless. BTW - I did purchase a 4 door counter-depth whirlpool refrigerator that I love so far.

  • I roils reluctantly recommend. Dur to clouds on cooktop and it’s only 3wks since I bought it and have been extremely careful about spilling and cooking on high temp. I’ve also used the recommended cleanser and shine product. I clouds see if the range was several yrs old but it’s brand new. Is there anything that can be done about these clouds. Is it a flaw and does it come worm with the glass. Are they removable? Other than that I love the smaller oven since we’re only two of us so I don’t need to use the larger over.

  • I wanted to love this oven after searching for the perfect oven in my budget. But if I could choose again, I would NEVER go with a double slide in oven. I’ve been using it about 2 months now. First off as seen in the collage, the finish on the top looks so old and ugly. And because I didn’t call in within 30 days because we weren’t able to install it right away, they won’t do anything about this. It doesn’t even make me want to keep this oven top clean. Second, I’ve been baking the same recipes for 15+ years, and I’ve never had a learning curve with any of the 4 ovens I’ve had in that period. But this one is out to get me frustrated! If I bake multiple racks of cookies on convection 325, (which I used to bake in my convection oven at 375) then they become way overdone but are doughy inside. It does a terrible job of preheating and in general baking is not a pleasant experience for me with this oven. I normally bake 9 dozen buns every 2 weeks and they’ve not once turned out as good as in my previous ovens. Either they burn, or if I turn it down, they don’t bake! And if I change the temp while baking, it’ll preheat for forever and I’ll be done baking before it’s there. Also, not a great idea hanging a towel on the oven door. If hung on top door it catches into the oven when you open the bottom door. If you put it on the bottom it touches the floor when you open the oven. So I remove my towels when baking. I do like the element design for the stove top , I like the triple element. I like that it has knobs and not buttons to control that. I like the way the buttons work because I’ve had one where I had to push them in way too hard. It also wipes really easily on the control panel where the buttons are. In summary, I wouldn’t choose this oven again. I may choose Whirlpool but never this model. An appliance repairman also told me after I got this to never get a sliding double oven because they never work well.
