• I received this Cooktop about a month ago. My old cooktop lifted up from the front and had an arm bracket to hold it up to clean underneath. Also, the entire underside and boron pan was porcelain coated for easy cleaning. This new model does NOT have theses features. To clean the lower pan, you have to remove 4 screws from the top side and raise it up and tape it against the wall to hold it out of the way, or get another person to hold it up while you clean it. ALSO, the underside isn’t porcelain coated, and is just sheet metal. SO, if you have to spray oven cleaner on the underside, it’ll be a mess to clean and will discolor the sheet metal bottom. This is no where near the same quality model that we had 10 years ago. We are awaiting to return this item. THREE (3) times Whirlpool has failed to pick this cooktop up for return. We are waiting on their FOURTH (4th) attempt today.

• Whirlpool literature and sales rep led me astray on this. 1. Indicator light was supposed to stay on after cooktop is off, to indicate top is hot. It does not. 2. Pics and literature said it has a raised edge to contain spills. It does not 3. Top has curved down edge so everything rolls off 4.Heating element has raised ‘nipple’ in center so pots do not lie flat 5. Manual says if you do canning (which i do) you need to replce burner. When you try to order the part it is discontinued

• I've owned this cooktop for almost a month now and am very happy with it.Installation was straight forward with the only exception that the bottom portion that goes beneath the counter was smaller than the cooktop we were replacing. It was a simple fix for my husband to add wood to both sides to better brace and attach the cooktop to securely. If you are installing in a brand new counter, this won't be an issue because you will have the item there to measure for your cut-out.It cleans up so much easier than the glasstop version. The heating elements and trays can be removed to clean up spills and crumbs.It heats quickly and cooks well.

• I bought our stove top several years ago to replace our old glass top stove. The first thing I noticed was that as I was cooking the product I was cooking was NOT cooking well. The burners would heat up, but then cool off right away. Each plug-in coil surface element (burner) has a medallion with a button (sensor) in the center of the coil. This button must contact the bottom of the cookware for the Sensi-Temp Technology to sense the temperature properly. When I investigated I found all the burners have these SENSORS in the middle of them. After reading up on them I decided these were USELESS ! So I went right out and purchased a NEW set of burners WITHOUT these sensors and replaced all of the cooking coils ! What a difference they made ! Cooking with ease now !

• I purchased this about a year ago and will always be sorry. The burners has some sort of a spring that pops up above the burners in th emiddle of the burner. My skilet lops to one side on this contraption and all oil runs to the side of the skilett. I complained to the company right away and they sent me 4 new burners which didn't help at all. they are made the same woith th same results. Who wants a cooktop that our utensils sits lopsided on the burner? I wouldn't even give it a 1 stat

• Purchased from best buy and had to wait about 10 weeks. Installed and all looked good. Problems that the coils are temp controlled so during cooking it will cut off and cool down and restart again. Can't even boil water much less cooking food. Called tech and replaced coils with same problems. Called CS at Whirlpool to get help and they kept insisting to dispatch a tech. I said tech has been here twice and he cannot fix . Whirlpool needs to stand up help with this issue. Many reviews are negative about this electric coil hot plate. Is there anything can be done with the coil? May be they can supply old traditional coils.Worst product DO NOT BUY. MODEL WCC31430AB03 SERIAL # DA2004943.

• 2 days after installation white coating began chipping and peeling from upper left corner. Spring loaded center piece of each burner makes it impossible for lighter weight cooking utensils to sit level on burner.

• Just installed this as a replacement for the same model. I went to do a stir fry for the first time last night, and the burners do not get any hotter than about medium on my old stove top. checked all of them and they all do not get hot enough. Put one of the burners from my old cook top (same model) and wow worked great, got hot enough to smoke oil. So I'm thinking are all the new burners bad? Nooo, it is what they call Sensi Temp burners, and I'm here to tell you, unless you never want to cook something on high heat again, stay as far away from Whirlpool as you can.

• A nice replacement for the size for quick fit in new countertop I had to replace for my Grandma Ida , who burnt her previous stove up from boiling a pot of water . This is what was left after the fire department pulled the back wall out . I had to replace with your new stove to fit in a fifty year old kitchen cabinet..

• The decals on my WCC31430AB have completely worn away and the indicator light stopped working. My husband and I know which knobs are for which burner but are looking at replacing the cooktop simply because no one, babysitters, parents, etc. can use the stove easily and I can't find any replacement decals for this Whirlpool model. So disappointinng

• This is the worse cooktop! Do not buy! Takes 30 minutes to boil water. The coils been replaced 3 times in 2 years. Item purchased 2-11-20. Problems from the start was told service man had to check it out 3 or 4 times. It should have been replaced then while it was under warranty. They allowed the warranty to expire and now they say it’s my problem. I’m having to purchase another cooktop in 2 years. Only one coil works now. Food cools down while frying food soaking up the grease! Buyer beware! I’m totally disgusted!!!

• There are a few things I like and a few I dont like, its pretty, nice finish. The burners are level, A couple things I dont like, the stove top does not raise up for cleaning like all my others, you have to remove burners unscrew 4 screws and the whole top comes off but bo way to hold it up for cleaning so 2 people for the job..a real pain. You cant have the burner on high very long it just cuts off, on near high its ok but high wont last long. No ridge between the stovetop and control knobs so any spills can leak right into the control knobs area. Overall it works well and I like it for now, cleaning will be another story.

• I would give this zero stars if I could. This cooktop has a "safety" feature in it that keeps the burner from remaining on high heat for more than a few minutes at a time. Trying to cook a large pot of pasta or potatoes is a joke. It takes forever to heat the water to boiling because it constantly cools down so I am forced to turn the burner off and turn it back to high to get it to heat up again. I have owned this cooktop for just over 2 months now and I absolutely hate it. I cook every single night and this cooktop has turned making dinner into such a long chore. I never know how long it will take to cook something since the burner consistently lowers the heat. This is my first and only Whirlpool purchase as I'm so disappointed in this product. I will likely be replacing it but not with a Whirlpool cooktop! Do yourself a favor and avoid this product at all costs. And shame on Whirlpool for still manufacturing such a horrible product!

• It was an incidental and happy finding ! I had bought another electric stove which ended up being too small for my kitchen counter opening, so my electrician referred us to a warehouse selling all kind of appliances, and I found this Whirlpool electric stove which barely fit in my counter and looks and works great!!

• This is a replacement electric coil cooktop for my glass electric cooktop which was very hard to clean and scratches easily. This cooktop provides a clean, elegant look to my kitchen, easy to operate and clean. It fitted nicely to my countertop opening that’s why no modifications were made when it was installed. This is my first Whirlpool electric coil cooktop and so far, I haven’t had any problems with the 4 burners. I really prefer electric coil cooktops over glass/ceramic or gas cooktops that’s why I hope appliance manufacturers won’t stop making them.

• We didn't want a glass topped cooktop, so we went with coils like we've had for years. I didn't realize that the standard has become burners with safety sensors. I cooked oatmeal the way I usually do, set on low. It usually takes 15-20 min, but on this new cooktop, 45 minutes. The next day was pasta, water got up to a nice boil, dropped in the pasta, set a timer and walked away. I went back to stir at the midway point and the pot was quiet with the pasta sitting at the bottom. I turned it back up, waited for a boil, turned it down a bit and watched as it stopped boiling again! If I hadn't paid so much to have it installed, I would have sent it back.

• finally got unit, installed and immediately discovered that 1) burners have a device in the center of the coil that limits high heat time 2) drip pans are too small for the cooktop burner opening making the heating coils move around when using/cooking/stirring - a very dangerous splash hazard with hot oils, boiling water, sautéing etc. 3) coils and heat limit device in the coil discolored with 1st use 4) customer service & "lead" refused to allow us to return this unit, citing some 'mice-type' new/unused condition disclaimer - never shown during purchase/checkout. How else do you know if the unit is what you ordered and works the way it should? Very rude, very 'too bad' attitude - not the Whirlpool we're used to dealing with over the last 50-60 years. Shame on Whirlpool.

• We replaced a 40+ year old Whirlpool cooktop which had finally quit working. Our new Whirlpool unit heats up faster, gets very hot, and has a wide adjustment range. I never keep the burner on high for very long before reducing the temperature so have not yet experienced the burner cycling off while cooking. The silver colored center raised button that sits in the center of each coil and is part of the government safety requirements is a nuisance. The button on each of the large burners keeps my frypans from sitting level. Obviously, I will need to purchase some heavier pans. The silver buttons have all discolored and have a gold hue.

• The electric stove top that I purchased does not work. It is impossible to actually cook on it. The sensors that were installed regulates the heat and automatically cools burners down when it feels it is to hot. If Home Depot would have explained Whirlpools new design, I would have never purchased it. So far Home Depot and Whirlpool refuse to return it. Whirlpool say it works by their Design, there design doe not work.

• I have always had the same Whirlpool electric cooktop with pleasure. This model is simply the worst. It is defective in design because the burner pans do not fit securely in their openings and they swivel all around when cooking and cleaning...just horrible, unsafe, and frustrating. A serviceman came out, said the burners were functioning properly (yes), but that he could do nothing about my issue and left in5 minutes with no advice. I also called customer service with the same unconcerned reply. Very disappointing in the company.

• Thé heat reduces automatically when boil begins on all four eyes. Under warranty repair man came today and said that is a safety feature and nothing can be done to change it. I am very disappointed. How can this not be mentioned in literature or by the Whirlpool service when I contacted them? How do you cook on a cooktop when you can’t use high heat to boil?

• I bought this to replace my glass top(different company) during a home renovation. Was tired of the issues with the glass top and was only given enough refund to buy this one. I grew up using a coil type burner, so this was a good fit. Now I am having fits every time I use it! Does not cook well or properly at all. I can echo all of the other reviews on here as concerning the sensors, and heating the pan. NOTHING cooks properly.The sensors never come clean or look nice. Neither do the drip pans. I bought black enamel ones to replace. I would love to be able to replace the burners to the kind I am use to, but cannot find them. Wishing I had another option.

• Due to our kitchen layout, and home canning, coil cooktops are my only option. I bought two of these cooktops in 2014, one as a backup. Sure enough, the first one died after a few years. We installed the backup, and it also died after a few years. We recently purchased two more of this model, but the new ones have a temperature regulating coil... meaning, it takes longer to bring to a boil and maintain temperature (like it automatically lowers the heat from High to Med). It also is NOT recommended for home canning, UNLESS you buy the Canning Kit. Ok, so I went to Whirlpool website and the Canning kit is DISCONTINUED! ugh... so now what? I have two of these cooktops, which I bought specifically so I could do home canning. Not to mention this is the THIRD cooktop (this model) that we installed in 7 years. It seems like the coils & (thin) cooktop metal gets too hot and melts the wiring underneath or something. Poor quality, poor design, poor product. I will not purchase anymore of these, and will probably return the extra one we bought as a backup, since we can't use it for home canning... I might as well get a nicer smooth top or induction cooktop.

• Why is Whirlpool selling a cooktop that automatically shuts off or drops temperature to simmer while you are in the middle of cooking? An absolutely unnecessary built-in feature on each burner shuts the temperature down continuously. What used to take 15 minutes to make now takes over one hour. I called customer service and was offered a 15% discount on buying another cooktop without this feature. No exchange offered. I did not see anything in the product description about this automatic shut-off feature when I purchased it just a few months ago.
