I replaced the 15 year old Amana cook top with the Whirlpool. After first use scratches and marks developed on the stove top. It’s a scratch magnet. We have been using the factory prescribed cleaning liquid but has no effect. Otherwise, the cook top works great.

I redid my kitchen after over 30 years of looking at the same appliances (except microwaves). I chose this stove and I’m still learning it. So far I like all of the features except that the surface stays hot for a long time after it has been turned off. I am accustomed to cleaning my stove when I finish cooking. So far that is the only thing that’s not A+ with me.

I have had my new cooktop for 3 weeks. I like everything about it except it always leaves stains after each time I cook. I have to use Cerama Bryte every time I cook. I hate this. My last one wasn’t this way. I only used a strong cleaner every once in awhile. Not sure there won’t be a warranty claim if this continues.

Purchased this as it was the closest in size and design we could find to our 30 year old Amana cooktop. Have used for nine days and so far, no problems. Unlike the old cooktop, this new one does not have a “quick boil” (high-output) burner. Nonetheless, the burners all seem to heat up in about the same amount of time as our old ones did (reasonable amount of time). We like that the control knobs have sturdy rubber gaskets between the bottom of the knob and the top of the glass; this will help to deter gunk from getting inside the cooktop. Glass surface is very shiny and readily shows dust, fingerprints, oils and streaks, even after cleaning, but so far, does not seem any more susceptible to scratching than our old one did. The old cooktop hid smudges much better! Unless the burner is on and red, on the new cooktop, it’s actually a little hard to see the “circle” where the pot goes. Also, there is a “hot surface” indicator light, but unlike the older cooktop, it does not indicate which burner is still hot - only that the cooktop is hot somewhere on the surface. Many people have commented that the “pointer” indentations on the knobs are difficult to see. Two coats of a little white craft paint applied with a toothpick took care of that issue. Have included two photos of new cooktop and one of old, for comparison. We were very happy with our previous cooktop and can only hope this new Whirlpool cooktop performs as reliably and for as long as its predecessor!

I purchased this about a month ago and a bit disappointed with it. It never looks clean. I have just been using water to clean it because I am unsure of what type of cleaner to use on it and will go to my appliance store to purchase the correct cleaner. It heats up nice, but like my other cooktop, it just does not have that pristine clean look. You can tell where the pans sit on it and it is not scratched. I should have either purchased the gas cooktop or the electric coil cooktop. I am kicking myself that I purchased another glass cooktop.

We have had a repair tech out twice (coming a third time in a few weeks because that was availability) for a problem with the surface hot light. First tech visit: needed parts so rescheduled for a week later Second tech visit: discovered needed different parts so rescheduled TWO weeks later. My mom has the same cook top and after a year her surface hot light went on. So I am "lucky" I am in my 1 yr warranty that it is doing it now. It is just always on, nothing notably wrong other than that.

The unit works great and is easy to operate with the knobs. We are still old school and prefer simple operation versus high-tech products where more can go wrong. This model fit perfectly in my granite island, cut out where others were not deep enough to cover the whole opening. I actually had to grind the length side of my granite to get the unit to fit. I rented an angle grinder from Home Depot and bought a diamond Grinding disc so I could do this myself. 100% successful with me doing the installation and modification myself and not having to hire someone. This unit was easy to wire.

I replaced my Kenmore radiant element glass cook top which was 20 yrs old. I thought this Whirlpool Glass cooktop was going to be a great kitchen replacement. It is not. No matter what I clean it with it leaves streaks and spots. Even with the recommended Affresh cleaner. I tried Windex, Vinegar, it streaks visibly bad. It has tiny scratches, although I have been very careful with my pots and pans, but I have only had it for less than 1 month. After paying for installation into my Quartz counter, I would not go through that expense again, therefore, I will bear it, but I expected better quality. Only good thing, it does heat up well, but not worthwhile recommending this product at all.

It is socalled a stainless steel cooktop. It turned out that the knobs are aluminum, especially inside there is just plastic tube. Very very disappointing. I bet that the plastic will be quickly broken because it looks so cheap and fragile. Really not worth $500 more. I think that it is a cheating.

Just purchases and installed…. After 45 minutes on high cannot get water to boil (1 cup).

We had to have our quartz cut another 1/8 of an inch for it to fit as a replacement, but it is now installed. I like the texture and the knobs that pop when turned off. I would love for the knobs to have a white mark to see where they are pointing for my husband. Overall I really like the cooktop.

Best ever - We had a whirlpool before as it was installed by the builder Pulte back in 2004. We loved the smooth cooktop and the ease of cleaning. the top we had looked new when we had to replace it (burrner temp would not adjust - always on HIGH) So we went looking - Found several that would work but we landed on whhirlpool, reasone, well we knew the product and we new it would work and stay clean with minimal effort. We love the Whirlpool cook top and will never get any other product. Very happy.

After scary reviews about keeping a white cooktop clean using cast iron pans, I cancelled my order. I use only cast iron, a large collection with some pieces being almost 50 years old, and I'm not going to switch. But I decided to give it a chance and reordered this white cooktop. I love its beauty and ease of cooking--it heats up quickly and keeps heat with regularity. But the great and unexpected thing is the ease of cleaning! I've been cooking several times a day for a month with cast iron, and the white stove is pristine and sparkling! My cast iron does leave brown marks from ancient grease build up on the bottom that I can't clean off. (It doesn't leave scratches because I don't drag pans across the surface.) I wipe up spills right away when I can (not from a hot burner), but sometimes spills leave a mess that looks frightful and seem they will never get cleaned. But it only takes less than a minute with a warm rag and razor to clean it perfection again, and then I buff dry and shine with a microfiber cloth. Once in awhile I use the cooktop cleaner. I think the secret is to always clean the stove after each use. But it's so easy and the stove so beautiful afterward that I actually enjoy cleaning it! The only one tiny thing I would urge the manufacturers to change is to complete the visual outline of the inside burner on the dual element. Having an incomplete circle is just...odd. But it does end up being a point of conversation about the psychology of shapes...

We have enjoyed our new cooktop. It is so sleek and shiny! It is pretty to look at. I like how the areas around the burners have a slight textured appearance. It gives it a nicer look and I hope it hides any future scratches since we had that problem with our old cooktop. So far so good! The duel element works great. I like the versatility. The 30 inch size is also perfect. It is difficult to take a good photo of it because of the shininess reflecting my backsplash but I included a photo.

This is my 3rd Whirlpool Cooktop and unfortunately I wish I had gotten a different one. The problem with this model is that there is only 1 large burner, so if you are trying to cook several things in larger pots that's difficult. Also, the only large burner is a Dual burner, so it can be large or small, I think this is the reason it seems to take so long to heat things up. The settings are Low, Medium or High, where if you had a regular burner the settings would go from 1 - 8 or more. I have always been very satisfied with my other Whirlpool appliances, until this one. I would not recommend this model and I would not purchase it again.

We remodeled our whole kitchen and in order to utilize some space we decided to put a cooktop and wall oven instead of a regular stove. We love it and don't regret getting the whirlpool.

I bought this less than a month ago and a cloudy “mark/stain” has appeared on one of the burners. It s not on the top of the glass. What can be done? I am unable to add images.

We never had a cooktop range until this house. We've always had the range/oven and also the range / double oven type cooking systems. But as far as the saying goes "Happy Wife, Happy Life" , I have one very happy wife. She absolutely loves this cooktop. The features , the instant heat, the fast cool down, the easy off cleaning. It makes her routine job of cooking a lot less routine and more pleasurable and I am very grateful for that. By the way it was fairly easy to install, I did it myself. I had to cut some tile and concrete counter tops to fit the range but your instructions were good so they made it easier.
GarryM12/20/2019 09:33 AM
The cooktop arrived in a factory-sealed carton with damage that could only have happened at the factory. The loose electric conduit was allowed to slam into the glass during shipping and visibly scratched the surface coating. That alone points to sloppy, cost-cutting packaging - a trivial plastic wrap would have prevented it. More revealing is what the damage says about the product itself. If a stationary metal conduit can scratch the coating in transit, the long-term durability against everyday metal cookware is highly questionable. This is not an isolated shipping issue. It exposes a fragile surface finish paired with careless factory practices. For a glass cooktop at this price point, that combination is unacceptable.

The cooktop is impossible to clean!!!. I have scrubbed and rubbed with the recommended cleaners. Terrible!!. I previously had a ceramic cooktop for over 15 years and it was very easy to clean and when I replaced it was still like new!!. This ceramic top by Schott Ceran is a nightmare. The cooktop cooks well but whirlpool could find a much better ceramic cooktop.

I previously had a whirlpool glass top stove which I was very happy with until it shorted out. I purchased another whirlpool top. It cooks ok, but it is very hard to keep clean. It is always smeary. I have had to purchase several products, it’s just ok. Also the High, med, low, printed on the glass top by the knobs are very hard to read, they are very faint, It’s almost like they weren’t finish, and needed another layer of paint. We had to paint the indicator groove on the knobs, because they were all black, and very hard to see, again it’s as though the paint was forgotten. My previous top was very well marked. I have always purchased Whirlpool products, but I’m rather disappointed in the stove tops quality.
