I’ve had this newest model microwave for a month now and find it more cumbersome to use than the previous one. For example, instead of simply pressing buttons, you scroll through functions to get the settings you need. Also, the display is dark (no time/date shown) until the microwave is activated. And the volume of the signal when cooking is finished is very low and almost impossible to hear if you are in another room. Finally the plastic trim surrounding the glass window, both inside and outside, was sloppily installed. Not what you would expect from KitchenAid.

Paid for order 2 months before it was delivered off the assembly line and available for installation. Installation went well and basic microwave features are now available and useful. Both of us are quite technically capable, but the user interface is very different for this appliance with its various features, and the operating instructions are minimal and very lacking in detail. It was extremely difficult to connect with Kitchenaid/Whirlpool for assistance; too many phone delays and handoffs to people who deferred responsibility to the next phone agent, leading to no resolution. We were instructed by a Kitchenaid form with the delivery to register our unit and receive an email to order a crisper pan (included with the purchase.) So far, we received a rack and a steamer pan but no crisper. We still cannot use the Air Fryer feature because no one at Kitchenaid/Whirlpool can identify an Air Fry basket appropriate for this unit (other than rectangular that would hit the sides and no instructions on disengaging the turntable.) We're happy to finally have a replacement to our previous Kitchenaid microwave "as a basic microwave", but otherwise very disappointed with Kitchenaid/Whirlpool with regard to full use of features and gross lack of customer support.
