• We are using our cooktop not heavily as we are remodeling our kitchen. It is not even 2 weeks but the central burner turned to the black and it look likes it burned by itself. very disappointing. Other burners start to have a black spot on them. We are not using this even for a month! I attached pictures

• This cooktop was a warranty replacement, so there were few options available. The replacement cooktop was delivered by Whirlpool, but the technicians would not install it because they said the washer was not the right size. The technicians did not unpack the cooktop and it sat unopened until I was able to find an installer to do the work. The cooktop is substantial and the grates are quite heavy and unwieldy. The stainless steel frame shows every spill and smudge, and once cleaned shows streaks and color variations. The burners are quite far from the grates and items take longer to heat up, and cooking times need to be adjusted. Overall, the cooktop is attractive.

• Had it for 2 years and it looks like 20! We use Myers mild cleaners in our home, nothing harsh but after only a couple years of owning - all the markings are completely gone!!!! It’s so embarrassing if someone visits and you have to show them how to operate. Looks like a cheap cooktop. I’ll my kitchen appliances are whirlpool/kitchen aid but this is horrible!! Not the mention the mental range itself is quite high so cooking is slower… I can live with that!!!! But the looks of it. I paid close to 2k when I purchased and it’s sad if I have to go buy another now. I do hope whirlpool catches this and does something about it.

• We have been using this for about 2 months. New home and we chose the builder option of Kitchenaid appliances. Because the grates are not level, food does not cook evenly. When putting anything in your pans, the liquid runs to the front of the burner. We have highest quality pans and I have checked them for levelness. I got our level measurer out and the counter is level, pans are level, cooktop is level but when you check the grates, they are not! Extremely frustrating. I am going to see about getting it replaced under warranty. Reading other reviews, I see others have the same issue. I do not recommend this unit.

• the first time I used it there was a propane leak in the cooktop and all the burners came off when it went "BOOM". Thank God it happened before too much propane built up. Kitchenaid is sending a new one out, but I've been waiting a month so far. It sucks not having a cooktop. Been using a single plug-in burner. UGH!!!

• I purchased my cooktop in 2015 and it has never disappointed me. I paired it with a down-draft vent. Except for the knobs, it still performs like the day they were installed. Perfect!

• This is a very bad design and not worth your money. Builder provided this product and it came with the house, so I didn't have a choice. When I started cooking I noticed that there is a lot of gas wasted due to the iron holder being high from the burner, except the center burner and it takes forever to cook because of the energy wastage. Center one is not a bad design since it's comparatively close to the iron holder. And because of this height variations and being so high, the flame has a gap in reaching the cooking vessel and the flames are just going waste. Wish the company considers redesigning for better performance and saving enerygy.

• We finally settled on Kitchenaid over all the other "gourmet" brands not only due to being the highest rated for dependability but also for the "look and feel" of the cooktop. We have not been disappointed. An excellent cooktop giving excellent results!

• I purchased this 36" gas model almost a year ago. I have brought up to KA about the un-level right sided grate. My eggs do not cook level and run toward the front of the pan. I use Calphalon pans, so it is not the quality in them. I have had a repair company out and they have noticed the problem and contacted KA for new grates. KA has sent them, but they are the same exact design - not level! My repair company has tried to have KA do something like make a new mold. I called KA again today. They are sorry.......but I wanted quality and put all Kitchen Aid products in my kitchen......all others are great, just not this one.

• We remodeled our kitchen, and as part of the project we replaced all of our old appliances with new SS KitchenAid products. These included a built in 30” electric double convection oven (2@5.0 cu ft), a 3-rack dishwasher and this 5-burner gas cooktop. So far the cooktop has worked very well. The knobs are heavy and feel luxurious to use. The large 3-pc grate allows one to slide heavy pots and pans across the top without having to lift them from burner to burner. The largest burner is very powerful and boils a pot of water quickly. The SS top cleans up easily with a sponge and Dawn Detergent. I use a drop or two of olive oil on a paper towel to polish it afterwards…which achieves the same result as SS cleaner/polishes w/o the chemicals and for 1/1000th the cost. The oil removes any remaining water spots, etc. and protects the finish w/o leaving a residue. The only complaint I have is that ALL gas drop-in cooktops have their regulator sticking 3” out of the bottom. This causes an obstruction with the drawer… that invariably sits below the cooktop…requiring a 21” deep drawer to be replaced with a 15” deep one…a huge loss of space in a very useful cooking utensil drawer.!! The base of the cooktop should have a built in channel allowing the gas regulator to be recessed into the bottom with only a valve and the male connector showing. This way you can control the valve and still have a standard depth drawer…without a series of modifications. Most contemporary cabinets have a few inches of space to the rear of the drawer for the gas line, electrical cord, etc. The current flat bottom design is pretty consistent throughout the industry..so, I assume it is a design-change-cost issue and there is no incentive to correct the problem…as they keep selling cooktops to people🤷🏽‍♂️. IMHO…I think it would be very innovative of KitchenAid’s design team to correct this simple issue. I do not believe it is a building code issue that is standing in their way. I recommend this cooktop. Good luck! RS

• I purchased my cooktop in September 2018, this cooktop is Gorgeous and Cooks very well. My only concern for long term is that this product is easy scratchable. While cleaning with a cloth, my fingernail touch the cooktop and the stainless steel did not hold up. The steel is not very durable.

• Being displaced by hurricane Ian, I haven't had a kitchen for 10 months. The older home we purchased required new appliances, and since I love cooking with fire, getting the Kichenaid gas cooktop was a no brainer. Easy clean, easy ignition, excellent cooking tool. LOVE IT!!

• We bought this cooktop after a kitchen remodel in January 2023 and for the most part it works well and I love how easy it is to clean it. The only issue are the labels that coincide with the control knobs. They are fading and seem to come off easy when cleaning.

• I purchased this stovetop 2 months ago when I upgraded all of my kitchen appliances. This is a great cooktop, nice heavy but streamline design, good burners, easy to clean, and knobs that are easy to clean around. My only complaint is that the grates are not level...I thought is was an installation error or my pans but after checking the actual cooktop (it is level) and replacing some pans, they were still off. Butter/oil pools on one side, the downhill side of the pan...not good, makes cooking difficult, need to move the food around in the pan for it to cook evenly. I see others have this same problem, is there a design flaw in the grates?

• We did a fair amount of research and shopped around a bit before choosing a cooktop for our kitchen remodel. We considered all three KitchenAid models for the 36” cooktop and ended up choosing this one because we liked the way the five knobs were grouped in the center and created more space for pots or pans. We compared BTU output on the three models and decided this one would be fine. We do a lot of cooking at home and it has worked out great. The center burner puts plenty of heat for things like stir-frys, and the back right burner makes absolutely perfect brown rice. The stainless steel is not as high quality as some other brands, which is the only reason we would not give it five stars.

• The stainless is NOT stainless or it is low grade. The way to tell is to see if a magnate sticks. If it does and a magnate sticks on mine, it is not stainless as stainless has too much nickel to have a magnate stick. It pits and rusts. I have these white dots all over the surface. Hard to clean. Takes too long to boil water. If you don't put those little black disks back on exactly as they were the gas flame shoots out the side scorching the finish. I have had gas in the past and it was a wonderful cooking experience. This one I think because it only has a single flame on the outer edge is why foods do not cook properly...makes heat uneven. Total disaster.

• Wife has long wanted to ditch electric top for gas; did a lot of looking in stores and online. She really liked the overall shape of this unit and the fact that control knobs were below the surface of burned grates. Saw some with scratched knobs otherwise. Good instructions, easy to mount from below.

• I purchased this cooktop along with $15k worth of other K/A appliances when we remodeled our kitchen in 2023. The S/S scratched and discolored (black spots) with normal use, and we are very CAREFUL with it. The chrome(?) burner rings developed copper-colored stains…all within 9 mos. of use. I contacted K/A and Costco regarding these issues, sent photos, and complained about manufacturer’s defects/quality control. K/A told me it was “aesthetic” and was not a problem. It looks like crap now and will need to be replaced eventually….long before it stops working. 1 on product quality and customer service. Once you buy…you’re on your own. Good luck!

• This stove top looks good , however the aluminum covers under the burners are already pitting and they haven’t even been used yet. We just moved in and it’s a new house. Very disappointed

• Do NOT buy, I repeat, DO NOT buy this stove if you don’t want your house to blow up!!!! This stove is totally unsafe. I am surprised that this is ok to sell. You can easily turn on the gas via the knob of the stove and bypass the igniter resulting in gas coming out of the burner without being lit. This has happened to us more than once. So, if you don’t pay attention while you clean around the knob or if a small child turns the knob while passing by, the gas will be turned on and emitted until you finally realize it by smelling the gas. Hopefully you smell the gas otherwise you could blow up your house. As the knobs are round (not like some stick knobs) with only a little line as indicator you don’t have visual help or reference to realize that the knob is turned to the on position. Also, no light button which would indicate that it is on. We had gas stoves before and never experienced anything like this. Usually you can not bypass the igniter and there is always a safety feature built in. Not with this Kitchenaid. We bought our house as a new construction and the builder had the stove put it already. After demonstrating this he was surprised by the lack of safety features he replaced the stove with the same model thinking it was just a defect. As the replacement stove was put in by the appliance company the delivery/repair people confirmed that all the Kitchenaids do this. In other words, you can easily blow up your house. I even called Kitchenaid’s customer service and after the representative talked to one of the technical team member she confirmed that this is “normal”. Needless to say, for our safety we will need to buy a different stove and until then we have to make sure it’s documented should we have an explosion in our house. I am adding a picture where you can see that the center burner is turned to medium high and there is no flame but the gas is coming out. I would have liked to upload a video but it wants to connect to youtube. I hope the picture and my review speaks for itself.

• I brought his (KCGS956ESS00) 2 years ago not satisfied with the product 1) Poorly designed grill is raised above burner flame resulting in a lot of heat loss 2) Uneven grill level therefore any vessel doesn't sit flat 3) Poor design - Grills don't lock 4) Poor spacing design and can't cook multiple pots at the same time 5) Could have provided a bit higher capacity to these 12btu and 2 of 9.1btu burners 6) Poor design - The dials are clustered in the middle 7) The 5k BTU is decorator could have given an option to choose 4 burners with high BTU's
