• We have been remodeling house and in the I wanted a 5 burner Cooktop. For 18 years my Cooktop was a JenAir but they did not have what I wanted. Knowing that KitchenAid is top of the line and had what I was looking for, I chose the 36" electric downdraft Cooktop worth 5 elements. Wow! What a disappointment!!! It is scratched ALL OVER and I cannot get off the strains, it is so embarrassing!!! The JenAir was easy to clean with no scratches for 18 years!! I love to cook and I am extremely careful with my appliances, all of my appliances are just NOW being replaced after 18 years due to remodeling. This Cooktop has been installed for approximately 9 months and looks atrocious!!!

• WORST RANGETOP EVER! Purchased for new construction. From day 1 terrible smell coming from vent. Clean filter and range daily, nothing helps. Paid contractor to replace outside vent, hoping it would help. Did not, still horrible smell comes from vent. It is not the filter, filter smells good, wash almost daily in Dawn detergent. We were so excited as this is our last build and wanted it to be perfect! This range top definitely disappointed us!

• We bought this from Best Buy on May 1. We had to wait 7 weeks due to back order issues. So, finally installed in late June. Within two weeks two of the knob controls could not be turned; they locked up. So, we request a replacement and again get multiple delivery delays. In the meanwhile, while turning a control knob that was working, we hear a loud pop. Then, within a few minutes the whole cooktop starts bowing and completely cracks in the middle of cooking. The stovetop then wouldn’t power off so we had to turn off the circuit. Luckily no one was seriously injured in this ridiculous incident.

• This was installed a month ago. I bought my house 10 years ago, and had an old jennaire unit. I agonized about this decision for a few years before finally deciding on this unit. I could not be happier with my choice! The burners are fast, and the temperature control on this is incredible. The fan power on the downdraft is powerful, clearing any smoke quickly that the family chef may make (me, and I’m a great smoke maker lol). I am so happy that I purchased this unit. It cleans up quickly with the right materials, and it looks fantastic in my kitchen. I. Am. In. Love!

• I like the cook top very much. I did notice that the first time that I used the cooktop that a circle similar to a thin ring of tiny bubbles was left on the cook top, where the pots had been sitting on the burners. Even after the cook top cooled, the circles remained. I tried to remove the rings with a cook top cleaner, but the circles still remain. I hated that my new cook top was permanently marked. I had no pot above the medium setting, but still the ring was left.

• It's meh at best. The fit and finish are bad. The trim isn't lined up properly (glued on permanently) so there's no way to fix it. The very first time we used it, it stained the cooktop surface we can't get it clean no matter what. Nice clean very high end pan used, no junk and it was clean and undamaged underneath. The downdraft is near useless. We replaced a 15 year old Kenmore Elite that the downdraft worked better on.

• I totally dislike my new cooktop. Everything about it is what I would call a poor design. The burners are too close to each other. The big burner is on the back of the cooktop (wrong). The knobs are in my way when I cook and the downdraft vent is very hard to clean. The burners are hard to control the heat and I burn most everything. Even if the heat setting is on Med. water still boils. The cooktop scars easily even with water drops. I have to use ajax to clear the marks. I still have my old cooktop out in my garage and I am seriously thinking about having it reinstalled and tossing the new one into the trash. I bet this review gets trashed too.

• Pleased with a needed upgrade that accommodates larger common sized pans, 11", 12". Nice power on the exhaust and cooking faster and more efficient. KitchenAid, can't lose.

• This product was installed during a custom build and I am so happy with our choice. It's easy to clean, heats up really fast and it fits in perfect with our modern theme. The downdraft feature works even better than I thought it would.

• My wife and I just updated our kitchen and replaced the old smaller electric cooktop with this Kitchenaid model. The old unit was still working but showing it's age and the new cooktop gave us an extra burner plus it has many updated features. The temperture settings are MUCH improved over our old cooktop. It was very difficult to get the correct setting for simmer but the Kitchenaid has many additional settings that helps you get the right temperature for your needs. I also like the downdraft fan better in the Kitchenaid. Much quieter and seems to do a better job than the cooktop we replaced.

• My prior KitchenAid glass cooktop last 8 years, until it started having burner failures. My new one has ghosting under the glass surface of one burner, but since it occurred after the first 90 days the ghosting is not covered under the initial factory warranty. The cooktop works extremely well and is beautiful. It is difficult to see the dimensions of the burner, because they not longer add the pencil-thin circles around each burner and you cannot see the correct pot size to use, until you turn the burner on.

• Not totally happy. First of all I had to get a downdraft stove so as to not have to tear up floors during remodel. Hating the black top because it shows every speck of food, greese, etc- and DUST when not in use. And third, the very first time I used it, there were marks that I thought was just spills but won't come off. Also hard to clean in between knobs. Kudos on speed in which burners heat up. ( I can't seem to submit pics on phone but would love to have someone from kitchenaid contact me to discuss!

• I purchased the Cooktop in January and it is here and installed on 3/21/2022. It is beautiful and it fir perfectly in my space. The downdraft works great. I love the large element above the control knobs. It is a welcome addition to my kitchen.

• We purchased this because we weren’t ready to do major demo. Our existing cooktop is downdraft and the choices were limited. We purchased other appliances through KitcheAid so decided to go with them. We were however disappointed to see that the cooktop does not sit flush on our countertop something they could have disclosed before purchase. There is a quarter inch gap allowing food and fluids to seep through. Also the downdraft feature is very poor and unless you are using the burner closest to the vent, it’s useless. My opinion this was an overpriced low quality purchase.

• I bought the cooktop for our kitchen remodel. It’s a beautiful piece but I’m nervous to cook on it. No matter how careful I am to use it, one burner leaves spots that I can’t remove. We clean it, carefully scrape it, and wipe it down, and it leaves white spots on the glass. And also, the cooktop gets very hot so must carefully adjust heat to not burn pans/food. I love kitchen aid appliances but this one really has me on egg shells to not ruin it. Not sure how to keep it from looking stained.

• Bought the unit from Lowe's mail order; and with a lot of work finally got the unit installed; upon hooking up the electric the cooktop does work however, the down draft does not work. Put in a warranty claim, and the mechanic showed up promptly which I appreciate. Mechanic advised that the "fan" doesnt work and that he needs to order another one. I received no information as to why the fan does not work, or more importantly an estimated time frame for which I will have to wait. I would expect to hear something from KitchenAid as this is a warranty claim. I am in flux, waiting.

• Just installed this. Ventless isn't installed as I was told the wrong part. That aside, cooked on it one time and the burner I used is scratched pretty significantly. For the cost that shouldn't happen. Our old cook top was at least 10 years old and had zero scratches.

• I just purchased a new house about 3 months ago and this stove came with the house. The previous owners of the house never used the stove, not once. I agree with the other review is that it is extremely difficult to clean without having any streaks or lint but my major problem is the smell coming from inside the vent. How do you clean away the residue and the grease that is inside the vent?? I'm also petite 5'1 so my arm isn't long enough and my husbands arm is to big. I'm starting to get a foul odor in my kitchen and I need to figure out how to clean this, does anybody have any recommendations?

• I bought this cooktop to replace an Amana wire coil downdraft cooktop. It looked gorgeous when first installed...but gets dirty quickly. At first, I thought i’d Made a huge mistake. As it turns out, I just needed to adjust my cleaning protocol. I use a Norwex microfiber Envirocloth, wet with hot water, to wipe it down, and then the Norwex glass cloth to polish it up. It is very quick and gets it to an acceptable every day level of clean. I use the cooktop cleaner and razor blade if it is messier than normal, and it has been very successful. We’ve also been happy with our results cooking on it.

• This is replacing a modular, cartridge Jennair- 42 inch cooktop. Nice to have a true smooth top, that the old one did not have. It heats up very fast and has simmer, warming features that are all very nice. The style of the top is very pretty.

• Bought this downdraft first off because i don not care for the pop up exhaust. Finding a large unit was a challenge. My other kitchen appliances are all KitchenAid so I fell very confident with the make. So far really liking the over size 5th burner. I am cautious of any drips and spills because even water on the cook top is an issue of a staining effect. All in all you can't go wrong. I hope it last as long as it's processor which was 24 years! Sure wish it came with a sample cleaning kit with the safe scrapper. I'm searching to find on Amazon today!

• We purchased this cooktop when we redid our kitchen. I used the cerama bryte cleaner and noticed this morning that the ultra heat - even heat element is discolored with blues, purple color under the glass. I am concerned that is could explode - I have never seen this before.

• I had a GE downdraft for 20 years but it finally died. In researching replacement downdraft stovetops, this was the only one available at a decent price. All others were EXTREMELY high priced.
