I, like many others, was originally taken in by how the built-in design of this Kitchenaid Microwave made it appear as though it was custom-designed to fit in seamlessly with your cabinets. In an age where we have tend to have way too many gadgets from ice cream makers to spiralizers to rice makers all epically battling for precious counter space, I try to keep things as neat-looking as possible by sticking to our stainless theme and choosing built-in appliances if possible with the smallest footprint. Right away, even our installers were surprised how nice this microwave looks. Its really quite stunning, especially for something that is rather meant to meld away in the background. It does just that, but in a high-end feel. I noticed tiny things first: how the vent on the top actually opens outward during cook times and quietly returns to stasis afterward, how bright the under-lights can be at the highest setting (if that's what you want,) and the wow-factor of how lightly touching the front of the appliance, opens the entire front of the device, reminiscent of something you'd see on a star ship. (I mean who doesn't secretly love that.) Oddly, though I was instantly concerned I picked a microwave that was too small! When the front opens, revealing the inside, its so sleek, it just doesn't look like it could possibly have the room I was used to (and that a family demands!) It actually took my husband to convince me to "put a dinner plate in there, there's plenty of room." Yes, happily, he was completely right! It looks deceivingly small but fits exactly as much as my MUCH larger looking chunky microwave that it replaced. So, pretty? yep. Roomy? Yep. But I didn't get to the great part. No cleaning that horrid bottom glass plate and circular silicon ring.... Ever. It doesn't exist! I don't believe I'll miss the days of angrily pulling out the glass tray covered in baked-on burnt cheese and reprimanding children to no avail. This is a major win in my book. The inside consists of an empty compartment that you just put your large dinner plate in (our dinner plates are the largest ones I've seen,) and cook to your hearts content with out any annoying plate rotation involved. With Melt, Soften, and keep warm options, along with the usual potato, defrost buttons, etc, I've found it has heated remarkably better than others in the past. In fact, I have yet to 'explode' tomato-based dishes or even fatty dishes in it yet. Am I just that lucky? I doubt it, I've had this one for quite a while and am used to cleaning out my microwave about every fifth thing I heat. This one has barely needed it, (although I do, like most people, cover things with a paper towel just in case - they've all come out clean:) As you can tell, I'm pretty smitten with this microwave. Although I've loved my kitchenaid mixer for years, I didn't know quite what to expect from them in microwaves, but I can confidently say this is a huge leap forward from any high-end microwave I've owned in the past. Hats off to them for continuing to make great tech leaps. Grab this one, you won't be disappointed.

The KitchenAid® Over-The-Range Microwave has a sleek and modern design. The slim, flush built-in design appears to be very innovative initially. Unfortunately it causes the entire unit to be covered in rising steam and moisture when cooking, because the unit only covers half of the stove area. I was very surprised by the tiny interior, it just barely fit one of my square dinner plates. I like the fact that it is turntable free, as it's easier to clean. The popcorn function works great! The reheat function was not reliable. It took a long time to heat up a bowl of leftovers and caused my microwave-safe bowls to turn very hot at the bottom. I also noticed that any food I warm up tends to splatter (for example soup, or refried beans) than any microwave I've ever owned. I feel like the heat doesn't distribute evenly. It took me a while getting used to selecting cooking time/ cooking option BEFORE closing the door and then hitting "start" AFTER closing the door, as there are buttons on the inside and outside. I didn't find the "open" button necessary, as it takes longer than opening it manually. Also unnecessary: the unit keeps beeping when it's finished, even when I open the door right away. The steam clean function is a great feature that I don't want to miss anymore!!!! One more downside: the exterior is not smudge/fingerprint proof! Therefore the unit always looks kind of blotchy, which takes away from the sleek design. Overall, nice attempt but with much room for improvement. We love and trust the kitchenaid brand (and are proud owners of other kitchenaid appliances). This microwave was the first kitchenaid appliance that didn't quite win us over.

I love this microwave! It’s beautiful number one, easy to clean both outside and inside, and gives me more room above my stove because it sticks out less. The features of the microwave oven are great the lights under it that do onto the stove are bright and adjustable too. There are two lights as opposed to the one on typical microwaves making the cooking area brighter on the stove top. The sensing feature of great as even when piping popcorn it doesn’t over burn it. It tastes fresher which I was really surprised with. I typically don’t like meat that hai Been microwaved but this one doesn’t make the chicken chewy. When melting butter it gave it just enough heat that the butted didn’t splash all over. I love that it doesn’t have a glass dish inside which makes cleaning it so busy easier. I would definitely recommend this to others!

I waited to write my review after I used this microwave for a while so I could give an honest, thorough review. I will start with the pros. First off, let me start off by saying install was super easy. The microwave is very heavy so it did take both my dad and my husband to lift it and put it in place, but it comes with all of the hardware and a cardboard cut out that tells you exactly where to measure and cut holes. Right off the bat I loved the sleek design, it looks so modern and I was completely shocked with how this upgraded my kitchen. I do like how there are no buttons or handles on the front and it’s all touch screen. It has so many preset options for choosing what you are heating or defrosting and I really liked that. I also feel like my food heats up 10xs faster in this microwave than our previous one, and and heats food more evenly compared to most microwave that get the edges of your food super hot and the middle is still cold. Another thing I love about this microwave is how extremely easy it is to clean and keep clean. There’s no turn table, and I wasn’t sure if I was going to like that or not, but I do. Underneath the microwave there are these nice LED lights that are so much brighter than my last microwave, which I loved because it just helps me see better while cooking. Now cons: it is so hard to keep the front cleaned, it gets smudges and streaks on it regardless of what you clean it with. I literally have to clean it then use a microfiber cloth to wipe all the smudges off. Also, the buttons are not sensitive so I have had to press them a few times to get it to take. I’ve also had the issue of when I close the microwave, my fingers hit the buttons and turns the fan on, which is frustrating. I also feel like it takes an extremely long time to defrost anything, which isn’t that terrible, because it hasn’t cooked my food in the defrost mode like most other microwaves do. Lastly I don’t like how to open the microwave, you have to touch a button that says open. It just slows me down I feel, and in order to clear the leftover time out on the screen, you have to open the door and hit clear, you can’t do it by the button on the front of the door. Overall, I do think this is a very nice microwave and I wouldn’t go back to what I had before. It’s very sleek and overall a good quantity microwave, so I think it’s worth the money!

Overall, I like the microwave. The concerning issue Is two weeks after installation rust began to show along the vent cover and front of the microwave. That’s very disheartening for a brand new appliance. I only use recommended cleaning products. I did have a technician come out and it is being addressed through the warranty. I don’t feel that this should be an issue for a brand new appliance. Because it is so new parts are not available and I need to wait for them to be manufactured. At least that’s what I was told by the technician. I tried to add photos, but the link isn’t working.

This microwave fits flush in between my cabinets. It required two brackets which were included for installation. This is an over the range microwave with a very clean finish and door. The inside is a little smaller than I thought it would be but it works! It does not have a turning plate but works just as well. I love the look of it! It was easy to figure out and has been very easy to use.

I got this over the range microwave and absolutely love it. The sleek look adds appeal to our home and doing a kitchen remodel makes it looks so awesome. I like how easy it is to use I also like that all controls are inside the microwave you can push a button and it opens the door.

We replaced our old microwave with this new KitchenAid Over the Range microwave and could not be happier. Our old microwave stuck out from the cabinets, and just did not look good in our kitchen. It seemed to work fine, but I couldn’t stand the eye sore. This new microwave from KitchenAid is fantastic in every sense. It barely sticks out from our cabinets, and looks clean. My wife and kids love the no handle look, and were blown away by the features. There is a push button to open the door, and most of the controls are located on the inside. A few controls are still accessible with the door closed, such as light, 30 seconds, 1 minute, door open, and vent. Speaking of the vent, it has an automatic door at the top, which opens when the vent fan is on to move air away from our cabinets. The inside seemed a bit small when I first got the microwave, but it fits a dinner plate, and everything else we have needed with no issues. I was also a bit skeptical about the non-turntable design, but after a few weeks of using it I can say unequivocally that it cooks just as good, if not better than any turn table equipped microwave I have ever used. Less parts inside also means easier cleaning, which is an additional bonus. The stainless steel design looks grate with our other appliances, and cleans easily. The over the stove lights are bright, and on the lowest setting they make a wonderful evening light for the kitchen. The highest setting allows anything I’m cooking on the stove to be illuminated perfectly. This is by FAR the best microwave I have owned, excellent product from the good people at KitchenAid.

We bought this specifically for the flush profile to put in our remodeled kitchen. We looked at 3 different brands and this one had the best looking front with the glass surrounded by the printless stainless frame. It looks beautiful and sleek in line with the 12 inch white cabinets. It was perfect for us since we installed a vent hood over the gas range and needed a low profile microwave installed somewhere else in the kitchen. There was an initial learning curve finding the right duration and power for the things we heat up often but we’re experts now and use the microwave everyday. I love the automatic fan that opens and closes on its own. It’s very easy to clean both inside and out.

I bought this microwave for my remodeled kitchen. It's incredibly quiet with so many features that I'm still finding even after a few months of use. I would recommend this KitchenAid Microwave as part of your kitchen appliance package or as a replacement.

Microwave is flat with my cabinets and looks great. Easy to figure out controls and use it right away. Vent and lighting for the top of my range (from under microwave) works very well. It should be interesting to see how long the vent door lasts since it has to open and close each time you turn it on. Power is much better than my old microwave (less time needed). Controls are inside door and also on door (to start, stop, etc.). Very pleased with this design and operation. Easy to clean too.

We've always had an on the counter type of microwave as long as I can remember. This over the range Microwave was a game changer, it almost feels like my counters are empty and missing something, which it is .... the old microwave! I will never again have a microwave on the counter after having this over the range microwave installed, it is pure freedome for me and my counter tops! This microwave is the top shelf of kitchen appliances, it fits flush, looks space age and sleek while being luxurious at the same time, and It is so quiet compared to our other microwaves we've used in the past, we could hardly tell it was on!

I purchased this KitchenAid over-the-range microwave about a month ago, and unfortunately, it hasn’t lived up to expectations. While the design looks sleek and it fits nicely in my kitchen, the performance has been a major letdown. Food does not cook evenly at all — the center of dishes tends to overcook or even dry out, while the outer edges remain undercooked or cold. I’ve tried adjusting the cook times, power levels, and placement of food, but the issue persists. For a brand known for quality, I expected much better consistency and heating performance. It’s frustrating to have to stop and stir or reposition food multiple times just to get an even result. I’m hoping KitchenAid addresses this issue, because aside from the uneven cooking, the microwave operates quietly and looks great. Until then, I wouldn’t recommend this model if even heating is important to you.

We recently remodeled our kitchen and decided to get new appliances as well. I love the look of its flush built in design. I like everything about this Over-The-Range Microwave except for the ventilation. When cooking it doesn’t clear smoke well, my house had gotten really smokey and I had it on high. That’s why I couldn’t give 5 stars.
Ktodd11/09/2025 08:42 AM
I’ve had this microwave for a couple of months and I am very happy with it. Obviously, it’s a beautiful piece of equipment, with its sleek design and hidden buttons, but it’s more than just a pretty face! It has all the usual cook, defrost and reheat functions, but also has melt, soften and keep warm options. I was worried the inside may not be large enough, but even our large square plates fit nicely, I’m extremely happy with my purchase!
Sharon S11/17/2023 06:59 PM
Perfect over the stove microwave . Looks like its part of the cabinets, perfectly flush, no noticable buttons or labels. Just hard getting used to the controls being inside the door as my old microwave was 30 yrs old!
ERangela5712/17/2025 05:30 PM
I like the microwave well enough, but a plastic panel above the keypad wasn’t secure and fell off onto the stove a few days after installation. Can’t figure out how to reattach it. Other than that, seems to work fine.
Yukon adjacent08/14/2025 04:53 PM
I have been using this for a few weeks and am really impressed and a little disappointed. It seems to take forever to defrost meat compared to my previous KitchenAid model. Also, I was not able to purchase this locally, as it was not yet available to my local stores. So I had to purchase directly, which seemed nice (because installation was $100 cheaper) . However, the installers were not equipped to drill through tile and subsequently could not complete the installation. I had to have my local contractor install it. The other features are really nice; I like that it is flush with the cupboards and the design is very sleek. I like the ability to quickly set or add 30 seconds, 1 minute, and 5 minutes increments. There are many presets to choose from. They seem to be more sensitive than my previous microwave, i.e. the frozen vegetable setting cooks perfectly! Overall I really like this microwave. Hopefully they can make the interior components smaller in the future for more space inside the microwave. To me the tradeoff of less space for more sleek design is worth it.
LauraChin12/20/2023 01:13 AM
I bought this microwave on January 14 and since then it has not worked properly. It has ventilation problems and it stops ever 15 seconds. We purchased the extended guarantee and had the technician over twice. He ordered the repair parts however we were told they were in back up order. It’s been 2 months since my family has not been able to use it. I have called Kitchen customer service multiple times with extensive long wait on the phone and nobody answered my call. So we gave up. Right now we are at the mercy of the repair company to fix it when they get the parts. This simply unacceptable and ridiculous. To be honest, I don’t know why I’m complaining this nobody from the company cares. This is the worst puechase ever!!
Unhappy7003/18/2025 04:32 PM
We originally planned on buying the same one we had bought at our previous house but the salesman introduced us to this one. I like how easy it is to wipe out. The flush design looks clean and sharp. My only complaint is that I wish it showed what power you are using like the one we had before, like when we switch it to 30% power the display would read the cooking time and power level. Otherwise, it is a great microwave so far.
mss48011/01/2023 09:00 PM
My previous microwave was from 2005. It had a turntable inside and an exterior exhaust fan, both worked great. We ordered a new stove and decided to get a new microwave to match. Although it looks great and is the same depth as our cabinets, the microwave has a much smaller interior space. It also does not heat evenly or as well as my previous microwave despite having a convection feature. My food is often too hot to eat, but has a cold plate or cold spots. It does a good job heating up 2 cups of water in 3 minutes/ The exhaust feature works great, but that's about it.
Lukeypoo12/22/2023 09:52 PM
I love the look of this over the range microwave. I was afraid it was going to be too small on the inside, as it is much smaller than my previous convection microwave oven, but it definitely is not. It has plenty of space. The flush design looks very sleek in the kitchen. I really like that all of the buttons to control are inside. It gives it a really nice flat look, with no buttons, no handle just a really nice look. It works very well. Has all the features you would need. Very pleased overall with this product..
twills1705/04/2023 07:15 PM
We bought this microwave a few months ago and really appreciate its sleek look. It is flush mounted and has a touch door release (very cool). The inside dimensions surprised us at first but because it doesn’t have a turntable, the entire inside space is available for use. Very happy with this purchase!
Mick512/12/2024 09:35 AM
Absolutely awful. Has this bizarre upper vent and perhaps it's due to this design that it already doesn't function correctly. No buttons on the inside of the door work - it starts running for about 10 seconds and then gives a vent function error and turns off. Of the outside buttons the 30 second and 5 minute options do the same, but the 1 minute selection works. I called in our warranty and it's been two weeks. The microwave is so new that most of the parts aren't over here yet. Sounds like I'll be getting an entirely new motherboard on a microwave that at the time of my calling was less than a month old and now I haven't had a functioning microwave for two weeks.
