I bought this a month ago. We renovated our kitchen 6 years ago and we got all new Whirlpool appliances. I was very happy with the microwave we got. Unfortunately, it quit working a couple months ago. It was a counter top model, but we had it built into a cabinet. When we got the new one supposedly the same size, the trim kit did not fit the new microwave. So we had to buy a new one. That cost us an extra $107. It is much more complicated to use than the old one. We used to be able to punch in the time, power level and start. Not now. You have to try to figure out how to do the time and power level. It is frustrating to say the least.

It’s a very powerful microwave. It’s very sturdy and heavy. The fonctions of this microwave are very good like the option soundless is very helpful when you wake up early without making any sounds. I’m very happy with this microwave

The Whirlpool Texas Combo Ph3 Sensor Cooking Microwave is a great addition to my kitchen. The sensor cooking feature takes the guesswork out of reheating and cooking, adjusting time and power automatically for perfect results. It heats evenly, looks sleek, and is very easy to use—definitely a reliable and convenient microwave for everyday meals.

i was forced to buy this unit to replace a 20 year-old unit that failed suddenly. it has been an adequate microwave. the power is a little bit higher than the one it replaces, but the overall volume and cooking chamber height are both lower than its predecessor. it would be a slightly better unit were the settings not so near to inscrutable. additionally, i do really like that it has a 24-hour clock option . . . but WHY OH WHY can i access that setting *only* by unplugging the unit and plugging it back in? and then WHY OH WHY do i have *only* 10 seconds to make that selection, or its back to an unplug / replug cycle to access it again. this seems to be . . . as politely as i can put it . . . a miss.

I love this more than the one I replaced. The size is perfect on my countertop. I didn’t want a lot if extra functions I wouldn’t use, these are just right. The interior light is good and I like the white interior. It cooks food well. It was a good value for the money.

Works like most microwave ovens. One BIG problem we had was turning off the child safety lock. We used the included directions which failed every time. One last try before calling for repair and the code worked. The good news is, we will NEVER lock it again.

Very poor quality. First one failed in 25 days. Warranty replacement process is onerous. Second unit has defective bottom plate which needs a shim to stand level.

This microwave is a replacement for Whirlpool Model MT4155SP which I had for 18 years. I stayed with the Whirlpool brand because of the longevity and operation of the appliance. This microwave is similar in size and power to the one being replaced. It is quiet and heats the food very well. Additionally this model has a lighted interior to monitor the food in case of boiling or over cooking. I'm still getting familiar with the operating controls because they are different. I miss one cooking option that this model doesn't seem to have, that is the programmable cook stage. I had been using this feature on the old microwave and haven't found it on this new version. Otherwise I like this microwave very much and look forward to using it for many years to come.

This microwave oven replaced a 25 year old GE model. Both ovens have a similar keypad and operating controls so it was easy to get up to speed on this oven. The cooking quality of this oven is excellent and it performs well with cooking, reheating, and warming tasks. I would prefer a door handle for opening and closing the door rather than the push pad as the push pad is very stiff. Also, I would prefer a matte black finish on the key pad as the high gloss black on the key pad is impossible to keep clean with fingerprints.

I'm an architect & my first microwave lasted me about 17 years. In 2009 I remodeled my kitchen & went with stainless steel. I bought a built-in then & it lasted me 16 years, until July 2025. My cooking habits have not changed, I use it almost every day for light cooking such as frozen vegetables, fresh vegetables, hot cereal, pancakes, defrosting, heating left-overs, cooking gravy & so on. My most-used cooking times are between 1 & 8 minutes. I bought this whirlpool in July 2025 & had to wait until mid-August for the custom trim kit to arrive. It was then professionally installed by our local appliance store where I've bought all of my kitchen appliances for almost 20 years. Well, this microwave lasted almost 6 months to the day from when it was installed & it died on February 17th. Needless to say, I am not happy, especially for an oven of this price. It is on the same dedicated circuit as my last built-in microwave, one circuit back to the electrical panel with nothing else on it. I looked up the issue online & went through the trouble-shooting steps of turning off power to it completely for a time then trying again, to no avail. The other possibilities were a faulty door mechanism, or a possible failed internal fuse, neither of which I can check. So now, I have a warranty service call & am having to wait almost a week for a repair person to come & fix it. With such light use, I think this is pretty bad. In my opinion, the oven also has some design flaws as follows: 1) The interface is absolutely awful. If you want to set the time and power, you press for the time & type it then, if you don't press & set the power quickly, it immediately defaults to 100% & you have to start the process again if you did not want that. Thus, if you set time for say 5 minutes, then you pause briefly while you consider using perhaps 50% or 60%, if you don't enter it within a second or two, it sets itself to 100% & you have to start over. This is ridiculous. The oven should stay waiting until you set the power you want. 2) Odd door functioning: The first thing I did was to use the manual & deactivate the cumbersome door unlocking function. But here's another door problem. Often when I'm cooking, I'll get the frozen vegetables in a bowl, put them in the microwave & close the door so they are ready to go. Then, I work with food on my stove &, when ready, quickly turn & set the time & power on the microwave & start it. Well, this oven won't do that. If the food has been in the oven for a minute or two with the door closed, it will not let you to set time & power & you get a "Door Warning" whatever that may mean. You then must open & close the door to be able to set time & power. Nuts. 3) Finish & color scheme: The whole face of the oven is super-high gloss dark plastic. It is absolutely impractical & shows every imperfection in the plastic surface & every mark & fingerprint. In terms of color scheme, see the photo here I will try to attach that I just took of mine. Glossy dark plastic with white markings that can be read BUT, there are also function markings in dull dark grey in this dark gloss finish that are almost impossible to read unless one gets a flashlight & shines it on the panel. As a designer myself, I wondered what the person who came up with this bad combination was thinking as it does not work. 4) Glass too dark: In spite of having a light interior, the glass is so dark that when something is cooking it is very difficult to see what is going on inside the oven. For example, watching to check that the hot cereal etc. does not boil over. Again, I wonder if the designer ever used this oven. Overall, I am not happy with this oven & don't recommend it. Hopefully it will be repaired on Monday but, even if it is repaired, I don't have much hope that it will last & be reliable.

The installation was a challenge as the KitchenAid trim kit I had to use had to be modified to work. Readily available trim kits should be made easily available.

This was a manufacturers exchange. This ordeal started the week of Christmas. I lost count on the modification emails I received on a delivery date. It was something like 6 months before I would get the replacement, after first being told 2 weeks, then it was canceled, and then another said 3 months, then another one said January 22. I did receive it on the 22nd. It was shipped out on a semi, and those drivers were the ones who replaced the microwave as well.

This applies to all 5 appliances that we purchased. We are very satisfied with the quality and efficiency of our appliances. The manuals, however, are hard to use and understand. The steps to get to the various features of the appliances are spread throughout the manual and are for several models, making it frustrating to find the correct procedure!

I bought this after our 13.5 yr. old original new home model had an electrical fire. We had to abide by the opening for the new one to fit. We bought what we thought was the same model. It has turned into a nightmare for the controls are not straightforward, but hidden in layers and difficult to understand thus far.

I really like the microwave, with the exception that I have some issues learning how to do timed cooking and power level (less than 100%). Getting better but still learning. Other than that, it works very well, looks great, and was easy to install. Given some more time, I may upgrade this rating to 5 stars.

This was purchased 7/18/25, and the turntable didn't work, there was no service available, only option was to ship another unit, the next unit arrived damaged, again no service, not allowed to make one good one out of two, only option was to ship another one, finally got a working microwave 8/22/25

When my previous Whirlpool countertop microwave developed a number of rust issues after many years of use I needed to replace it. I was able to find a newer comparable model at a reasonable price so I got it. It has taken awhile to learn all the new features this one has but I really like it.
bluedevil11/24/2025 10:01 AM
Newer functions, with a sleek and modern design. The color scheme matches my house design and elevated the mood with its contemporary style. It’s not too much but it can still hold and heat up big foods. The materials don’t feel and look cheap either, making my entire kitchen look much better.

Just shy of a month’s ownership…pretty satisfied with the heating, but the push-button door opener has failed and it usually takes two hands to open the door…one to push the button, one to the pull it open from underneath. We’re about to return it to the store as advised by customer service.

Microwave works okay but it is very hard to figure out the preset settings and how to use them. If you are a little slow in hitting the next button it does crazy things. heats as expected if just using the timer and power but that to is hard to do.

After a week of installation I had some or small problem fitting it in as a replacent from the 1.6 2021 microwave that we had were the new model is. So far it is great. Everything is so expensive these days. Twice as much than before covid hit.
