The compressor quit working after a few months. The compressor was annoyingly loud (when it was working) - maybe the new one will be quieter. It is under warranty and Whirlpool said they will replace it but it is taking several weeks. I wonder if they will replace the wine that is damaged. The pullout drawers catch on the door (tearing the rubber seal) if it is not opened fully (beyond 90 degrees). Fat bottles (chardonnay, pinot noir, champagne, etc.) do not fit. Well, they do but the labels get shredded every time you pull out the shelf above, and you have to lift the shelves up to slide them in and out, and you can't put another bottle next to a fat one, so....

Got this with a new house build in November 2019. On Feb 2021, started beeping and through CL codes. Had a repairman from the whirlpool site come out and said he thought it was the PCB and it would be $350+ for the part plus labor + the $90 he was charging for that visit. Added it bonus would be it would take 4+ months to even get the part in and he couldn't guarantee that the part would fix it. Basically wait until June, out $550 on a chance this may fix the issue. I am assuming this will fix the issue since its happened to many homes in my neighborhood with the same wine center. Not a good product and I am just waiting for the 2nd one I own to go out too.

Don't buy it or buy the warranty. We had it fixed 3xs and now we have to pay an additional $130 for a technician to look at it. Basically TRASH

I bought this product based on the look. I have dark wood cabinets and thought that this looked like the wood was dark to match. No it's not dark. It's light pine and the glass is clear, not tinted. Every website that sells this product uses this picture. See my picture before you buy so you are no deceived as well. It was too late to return it so now I have to pay to tint the glass on my own.

This wine fridge looks nice and is a good addition to my home. It can be quieter. It was going to be stand-alone in my place, but I'm now looking at making it a built-in to hopefully cut down on a little of the compressor chatter. I would recommend more if you are putting this under counter or if this is in divided up floorplan where there is wall isolation. I would not recommend if it is going to be standalone and/or if you have an open floor plan as you will probably not like the compressor noise: it is louder than my kitchen refrigerator and even the cheapo mini-fridge in my office.

There is a brand new one of these in my new apartment. It is ridiculously loud. Makes an annoying ringing sound like a dentist's drill. The noise fluctuates to so it's not even something you can get used to (not that you would want to). I've shut it off and used it for storage. Even if it was quiet there are other issues like spacing of the shelves. Makes it impossible to store anything that's a little fatter than a standard wine bottle. So it can't even store champagne. Honestly it is a complete waste of kitchen space.

Like so many others that have bought this Whirlpool wine fridge, ours has died too. It just stopped working, no cooling, no light, nothing. When designing our kitchen, the contractor misread this unit's dimensions, mistaking the fridge's overall dimensions for the space dimensions, necessitating the removal of the granite countertop to install it. Now I'm going to have to find someone willing to try to remove the countertop (including disconnecting the bar sink's plumbing) without breaking it, just so I can get rid of this piece of junk. One thing's for sure, I won't be buying another Whirlpool wine fridge, or anything else made by Whirlpool ever again.

Only a few years old and won't cool anymore. Not worth the money considering the repair costs are about $1000.

We were looking for a wine cooler in a moderate price and chose this model. It looks nice in our eating area, has a blue light which goes on when door open for seeing but also to let you know if not closed, great storage, easy to use and cools bottles well.
CSW5806/05/2018 04:11 AM
This wine cooler is completely silent! It has great styling and was half the price of anything comparable. My only complaint is that the racks are too close together. I have many bottles of wine that are a few centimeters too large to fit on the racks. Because they are too large, the racks do not pull out correctly; I have to pull up on the upper rack and down on the lower rack so that I can extend the rack and view the bottles. And yes I have put the larger bottles in the lower section. I have too many bottles that do not fit correctly. Clearly this is a design flaw.

We purchased this wine refrigerator for our recently built home. What a disappointment, especially compared to the two GE wine coolers we had at our previous home, which we had to leave, because the new owners wanted them. First, the Whirlpool does not have full extension drawers. Therefore, you cannot see what bottles you have in the back row, without pulling the front row bottles out of the cooler. Second, many chardonnay bottles will not even fit on the rack. Never had that problem with the GE cooler. Third, you have to make absolutely sure you have the door open all the way, otherwise when you try to pull a rack out, it gets caught on the door gasket, which will eventually tear the gasket. The day we moved in and started putting bottles in, we called the dealer, and told them we wanted to exchange it. Unfortunately, the dealer told us the Whirlpool rep would not allow us to return it, because it was not "defective", was in good working order, etc. We hope to be able to sell it, most likely at a significant loss, and purchase a different brand.

In less than 4 years it stopped working. Repair person ($100) told me it could not be fixed. I had to throw it away... This after I had just replaced a 4 year old Kitchen Aid Microwave because it cost too much to repair also after $100 and prior to having a 2nd trip by the repair people. I find two appliances I have to throw away the same week, after $200 in repairs, both less than 4 years old, unacceptable. Whirlpool seems to think that is normal good product performance. They could not care less. So, my advice, is buy the cheapest unit that works for you and put $ into extended warranties. Buying a "name brand", at least the Whirlpool family of brands, has no value whatsoever. The value is in the warranty and how a company stands behind its products, and Whirlpool seems not to be standing at all!

Bought this 2 years ago and it started beeping last night. It has a CL error code. I called Whirlpool and they said they did not know what CL is and that I should call to have it repaired. How can Whirpool not know their own codes???? The lady I was talking with said maybe the repairman would know. Useless support.

I purchased 3 of these from a local reseller in Dallas. After the original warranty ran out I purchased a 3 year extended warranty for all 3 units. It was a bit costly but better than replacing an entire unit. Shortly thereafter one of the units failed. A tech was called out and after a month or so said there was nothing they could. Not great since I purchased the extended warranties and the unit was only 4 years old.

I’ve had this fridge for just under 3 years and it stopped cooling. I tried some simple fixes that I saw online, which didn’t help. I then got a local appliance company to diagnose, and they stated it’s a freon leak and estimated the cost to fix at $1000. That’s not acceptable for a $1350 fridge. Poor quality.

I bought this in 2017 to finish our our wine center in our new construction home. 5 years to the day Dec. 17 2017 to Dec 17 2022. RIP wine fridge as it was over $1000 to "try" to fix it. Repair guys were great and said "put your money into a new fridge, NOT a whirlpool one"
cholovach01/23/2023 06:42 AM
I bought this and loved it for about 12 months - then it just stopped cooling - just after the warranty ended. I am very disappointed that Whirlpool only stands behind this product for a year - It was an expensive purchase to only have work for a short time - I also now have read that other people have had the same problem with theirs. Would not recommend or buy again -

I bought this fridge a few years ago and the compressor has already gone out and the fridge no longer cools. I did not purchase additional service coverage, but regardless of warrantee, a $1200 fridge should last longer than this! Very disappointed by this product and I would strongly recommend against purchasing this product or this brand.

Installed in new build home 9/2017. It stopped running and cooling. Whirlpool repair of $125 said it was masterboard and would be $760 to replace and not included in 5 year warranty. Isn't a masterboard an essential part and required to run the unit??It should not go out within 5 years. Very disappointed in the fact a unit of this price would go out in 5 years and the key component to make it work isn't covered.

Did not want to spend thousands on a wine cooler yet wanted it to be stylish and quiet. This one fits the bill. We put it where kitchen use to have a telephone desk. We are still remodeling but next week will gave granite and backsplash. Will look sweet

We bought this wine storage unit when we built a new home in August 2016. Unit worked well for about 15 months and then simply stopped cooling. We are now having to spend to replace it. We have owned several similar units that lasted 7 and 12 years respectively...shameful that whirlpool would settle for substandard production.

Purchased 9/2016. Worked fine for 5 years. It stopped cooling. Highly disappointing. Longtime Whirlpool customer with numerous appliances, but will consider others. Whirlpool - you can reach out to me on Twitter if you wish to help @dstein1

This is a 4 year old refrigerator and is hardly cooling. The temperature is all the way down to 41 and hardly cold inside. Im afraid all my wine bottles will go bad. It's unfortunate for such an expensive wine cooler to last only few years.
Manuel04/17/2024 12:55 PM
Bought this fridge less than 5years ago and it is no longer cooling - not sure it's worth fixing as repairs cost almost as much as a new fridge. Really poor quality product from Whirlpool - not sure I'd buy another product from them.
