  • Most consumers of this appliance will be fitting it in a tight space that is most likely designed specifically for a stacked laundry center, and they will need exact measurements for planning. I have attached a few pictures for the measurements I was unable to find in the product manual, specifications, or other online resources. These are very helpful for planning the depth of your laundry cabinet and plumbing / gas / electrical placement. I would suggest aligning your water and electrical line with the exhaust center measurement and offset to the side aligned with the 6in square access panel. So far the only design improvement opportunity I see is the front access panel. The three screws and corresponding plastic threaded holes they go into are poorly placed and designed with very low quality materials. This unit is being used in a seasonal residence and will be serviced biannually, and therefore will need access panels that can withstand repeated annual use. I plan on modifying for the increased use with magnets and latches rather than screws.

  • We bought this product because it fit the space perfectly. Pretty soon, we discovered that the dryer had a design flaw that allowed clothes to get caught in the groove formed by the protrusion of the lint trap housing on the bottom of the interior drum. This created a trough that would catch strings or other small parts of clothing, which would then create a domino effect, trapping other clothing and twisting them around one another, creating a knot of clothes. I've lost hundreds of dollars worth of clothing to this flaw at this point. On top of this, the washer also has a tendency to catch clothing under the agitator. My conversations with customer service, that is the ones that actually got through after ridiculously long wait times, were met with stock responses telling me to book a technician. But I'm not paying $150 for a technician to tell me there's nothing I can do about it because it's how the product was designed. It doesn't take much Google searching or perusing the reviews here to find that I'm not the only one who has experienced this problem, either. I haven't been offered anything beyond stock apologies: no solutions or even minimal effort to make things right. As a result this will be the last Whirlpool product I ever buy and I will do everything I can on every site that I can to discourage folks from purchasing this or any similar product unless I see Whirlpool make a little more effort to ameliorate the situation. I should also mention this is the second time I'm attempting to post this review as they seem to have thought I would never notice if they just didn't post it the first time I tried.

  • I just moved into a brand new condo, all appliances are also brand new. The builder decided to buy all whirlpool appliances from the dishwasher, fridge, stove and washer and dry. This is the machine they bought for my washer and dry. My second load of laundry I did came out of the dryer with metal flakes in my cloths…. I couldn’t figure it out at first and have just noticed the medal on the inside of the dryer is peeling. This is the second dry this unit has ever done. I took the tags off the machine so I know it was new. See picture below. If this is after the second use I can only imagine what this thing will be like in a year, that is if it even makes it a year.

  • We purchased this in October of 2019 and so far, we love it. I am used to a stacked front loading washer/dryer and I was not sure how I woud like the top loading washer. It's much deeper than I thought it would be and I'm short (5'3) and I have to stand on my tip toes to reach the bottom. Both run very quietly and have many features. The washer has so many choices and the dryer really dries quickly! My previous washer and dryer were Maytag and were two units that stacked, this one is one solid unit. The Maytag machines only lasted 12.5 years, and I'm hoping this laundry center lasts longer! So far, so good.

  • Have been using this about 2 months. I dislike the feature which only allows you to start the machine with clothes inside. I do not want to add detergent on top of my clothes. Got that figured out as I babysit it while it’s filling. No trouble hearing it fill. It’s like a driver who guns the gas pedal and then takes his foot off constantly, repeatedly. Could get over that, but the dryer is the worst. Never dries the clothes on the sensor cycle or on the timer cycle in what should be a suitable amount of time. There is only “delicate”, “normal”, or “air dry” for drying temps. A sad replacement for my old stack.

  • Balance constantly and bangs against the sidewalls The dryers under panel screws are coming out.And the whole unit is not stable at all. I would not recommend this unit to anyone. JUNK and they won't take it back and refund me. They aslo screwed up the delivery 3 times and the installation once. This unit is not stable at all, it has moved across the floor. Sent service man out, and of course he said there was nothing wrong, and now they want to send another service man out. They will not take the unit back and refund my money, and my complaints started on day one on April 28th. I would not recommend this stackable washer amd dryer to my worst enemy.

  • I purchased this washer-dryer directly from Whirlpool’s website and it has been one of the worst buying experiences I’ve ever had. From the very first use, the drum was detached, internal wires are visible, and the machine makes loud banging noises. I called customer service several times, but they only transfer my call and never provide any real help. The technician they sent said it was “normal,” which is unacceptable because the unit clearly arrived defective and poses a safety risk. I did not expect this from a brand like Whirlpool. Terrible customer service, no support, and no real solution. I do not recommend buying from them.

  • I bought this set brand new. Delivered and installed be service technician over 2 months ago. It has been broken since day 1. Will not move out of any wash cycle. Washes cloths and then stops. Does not rinse or spin. It does not matter what temperature you use. I have had a tech out and they said the taps were not turned on all the way. He said it would work fine. It has not worked properly ever. I have service coming again tomorrow. I would much prefer to have my money back as it is a brand new machine and I feel it should either be replaced or money back. Not complicated just resolve the issue once.

  • I purchased this unit and paid for installation from Lowes. Lowes delivered it, but wouldn't install it because they had to drill a hole in our wall for the vent...which they didn't want to do. Then after 10 months when I finally got someone to put the vent in (the delay was because of the pandemic), we started up the dryer and there was no heat coming out. I followed the instructions and flipped the power switch on/off, still didn't work. So in summary, I haven't used the dryer in a year after purchasing, and I'm paying someone next week to come and get the heat running. Really a terrible experience.

    WhirlpoolWaste07/20/2022 10:55 AM

  • It arrived dented from the top, the Magic Click was broken, the gas dryer was twisted, due to the smashed or dent from the top. The dryer does no work properly. My wife has to dry the clothes more than three times (the heat of the cycles is no enough to dry the clothe). We request from Hime Depot to change it, and they rejected our petition to include no discount. They said we have 24 hours for them to pick it up, otherwise we had to pay to be taken to the store. By the time we received it we had no water due to a water ration and there was no way to verify its function. The combo continues giving us trouble and is it provoking more electricity and gas consumption.

    Franky10/21/2022 09:16 AM

  • My first issue was that the dryer door opens and closes so loudly. We live in a condo, so you cannot open or close the dryer when my son is sleeping. Not ideal for knocking out a few loads of laundry while he naps. The worst part of all is that the washer leaves oil/grease looking spots on some of our dark clothes. It has ruined a few of my husband's clothes. We have mostly been able to get it out of the rest of the clothes with lots of stain remover, but why should I have to utilize stain remover on items that JUST came out of the laundry. It is maddening. Whirlpool had someone come out and take a look, but they were not able to find what the issue is. I am certain Whirlpool makes quality products, but this is not one of them.

    Ashly04/09/2022 10:05 AM

  • this unit cost me $1600 and i have a minor problem and they make me cover everything. The washer squeaks endlessly and upsets our neighbors off in the other apartment. You think for $1600 you might get a little support beyond "buy our extended service plan" the extended service plan is 20% of the price for a YEAR worth of coverage. what a shame. Done with this company. Looks like im on my own to fix this...

    Jordan10/25/2022 05:48 AM

  • After 5 weeks of use the washer lid lock sensor crapped out on me which disrupts the cycles from moving on, so had to get that replaced. Beyond that, it works OK for what I need it for but the dryer setting of "normal" that I mostly use only has a more dry or a less dry setting, with a dial that is hard to be exact with. The more dry seems to overdry and if you don't hit the less dry just right your clothes will still be damp. I try to hit it somewhere in the middle of the two but the dial doesn't click to different settings so it is hard to be precise. I also wish the dryer door latch was easier as you basically have to slam the door to get it to close.

  • I bought this whirlpool washer and dryer combo last month. I’m so disappointed that when you select the hot water cycle the water doesn’t come out hot.... this “smart” machine to save energy uses more cold water than hot . the water is not even warm. It really bothers me that the machine doesn’t let you wash your clothes in hot water. If that is the case the hot water option shouldn’t even be display. I have dogs and I wash their towels in hot water... well used to not with this machine.I regret buying this machine. I wish the sales person would of give m this information before I order the machine. Whirlpool should inform customers that this machine doesn’t wash in hot water. Not happy with it.

  • I've had the unit for 2 months to date. I can say that I am happy with the machine and it's performance. This unit is an energy efficient product and uses minimum water and washes by weight (Hint: To get added water use the Bulk setting). The tub is very deep and can wash a good amount of laundry, but no comforters. I've washed pillows in it perfectly, it's self adjusting to keep balanced so there is no loud banging that occurs when you wash something that has uneven weight. As far as the loud dryer noise complaints I would have to disagree it has a standard noise level of a dryer. It also dries quickly and each setting is perfect for the fabric setting select. Overall if your looking for a simple stacked unit I would go with this one.

  • Have not completed 1 load of wash yet. Tried first load it filled , washed and when it came to the rinse cycle it started to spin for about 1 second then stopped and the light was blinking. I removed the clothes and found a loose metal screw in the basket. Tried a spin and drain cycle with the same result. Contacted mfg and they said they couldn’t find anyone in my area to come fix it and it was up to me to find someone pay for the repairs myself and they would supply the parts and pay up to $200.

    Not happy03/27/2023 10:35 AM

  • - Why does it take so long to fill up? - Why can't it fill up with the lid up? - very useful to add soap while its filling up - With the AUTO LOAD LEVEL for water level, I Can't set a higher level water level for small loads that are dirt heavy that was a nice feature on the previous older model i had

  • I bought this unit 2 wks ago. Very simple to operate, quick and the dryer is gas awesome

    Inwoodgirl11/25/2022 01:07 PM

  • We owned another that was exactly the same and don't ask me why we bought another, we thought ours was maybe a lemon. The drum was built to FAIL. The previous drum felt like the house was coming down when it was on spin cycle. The new one is already doing this after less then 5 washes. I'm not sure anyone will even read this. I tried to call whirlpool but the prompts never lead you to a live person. It was very expensive to install and I feel like I'm left with another $1600 lemon. If anyone from whirlpool reads these reviews I would be grateful for some help.

  • I AM ABOUT TO BUY A STACKABLE WASHER AND DRYER.HOWEVER I AM ONLY FIVE FEET TALL AND THAT APPLIANCE HAS THE BOTTONS TO UPERATE IT AT THE TOP OF THE MACHINE. HOW CAN A SHORT PERSON OPERATE THIS MACHINE>> WHY CAN'T WHIRLPOOL MAKE SOME WITH THE KNOBS LOCATED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE APPLIANCE SO SHORT PEOPLE CAN USE IT WITH EASE. AND NOT HAVE TO CLIMB UP TO START AND OPERATE THIS MACHINE???

    LOU LOU05/09/2023 06:40 AM

  • It should be a crime to design and sell a product this bad, especially in 2022 and at $1700. There were better washer and dryers made 50 years ago. Even if it was free you would be better washing your clothes in the tub and air drying outside. This thing is so inefficient with water and drying it should not be sold, especially in the state of California. Luckily I did not buy this setup but my apartment has one in it so I am stuck dealing with the poor product. Washer: It does not auto fill with water like it suppose to. Sometimes barely any water and others almost filled to the top, regardless of the amount of clothes inside. Rough on clothes, had to start using laundry bags. Nickname is the Texas Tornado. No detergent dispenser so you have to pour it in manually like 1970. Dryer: Takes forever to dry, settings for temperature adjustment don't change drying temperature or run time like it should. It is just hot and slow to dry. Have to dry in small batches and even then it take 30 minutes to dry 2 bath towels.

  • As a single male, I didn’t do my homework by checking how sturdy and well built this unit was, I trusted your brand name because my last set of stacked W/D from you was a well built product. The product I bought this time is a TIN CAN that spins. I live in a twin and I’m scared I’m going to wake up my neighbor when I shut the dryer door because it’s so loud. It’s a piece of junk….but shame on me, I bought it and I’ll have to live with it. But I will never buy or recommend any Whirlpool product to anyone.

    Boomer04/13/2025 02:54 AM

  • This Dryer catches every one of our drawstrings and mangles our clothes. We have lost countless garments to the poor engineering. Call the company to no help. I DO NOT recommend this product. Sorry Whirlpool, you goofed on this one. We have to replace a brand new unit because it destroys clothes. Oh... We were offered a crap 15% discount to purchase a new unit. Borderline embarrassing.

OUT OF LUCK, AND CLOTHES09/23/2023 10:09 AM

  • I baught this a month ago because Old top loaders we’re acting up, it is a very nice machine, the only problem i have with this machine is the sence fill it puts just enough water for the weight of the load, witch takes for ever to fill up but your saving on water I guess, so if u have patients for the new technology bs they make now a days then I would recommend this unit to others. But I’m only one month in on this machine so u don’t really no, ur taking a chance like I did ,for $1700 with warranty and hoses and stuff, I did research. For months on what to buy for quality and this is the best I found Also for saving space in my kitchen ,so far it’s great though. U need a review from someone who had this unit for over a year at least,
