Bought this fridge in August 2022 and really love it EXCEPT FOR the seals on the doors already ripping off. There is so much cold air escaping I’m afraid that it will push too hard to stay cold that it will fry the motor soon. I have seen numerous reviews about this same issue. Whirlpool you need to do better. I insist on only buying whirlpool appliances. My range, fridge, washer, dryer, microwave ALL WHIRLPOOL but this is making me second guess my choices. Since this is an ongoing issue (based on previously read posts) and I am still within my year warranty can I return it to the store I purchased it from? Can I get replacement parts and have extras to repair myself? It’s not like it’s due to abuse or old age of the appliance, it is in fact a HUGE design flaw.

Disappointed. Model WRQA59CNKZ I was so excited when I purchased this fridge. I thought it was exactly what I was looking for... Counter depth, top fridge, bottom freezer with side by side doors and not a drawer. Unfortunately, both the fruit/veggie drawers have cracks in the front and 2 of the door shelves are cracked as well. The freezer is still hard to organize, the pull out shelves are a good idea unless someone has put something back too far and items fall off when you pull the drawer out. On/off switch for ice maker is hard to access. Shelf edges are painted plastic. The silver paint is coming off. Not a good choice for a family of 4.

We bought this fridge because almost everything else was out of stock. As fridges go, it’s good. The vegetable drawers are highly visible and helps with me not letting all the healthy greens rot. I thought I would miss no ice or water in the door but the pull ice tray is way easier than waiting for the machine to dispense it. Plus I don’t have to buy a filter. Positives: things look and stay pretty organized, 4 doors are great Negatives: limited adjustment with shelves. Our industrial size ranch and ketchup we buy only fits in the main and not the doors. It took a minute to retain us not to pull on the left door from the inside “latch” as it secures that way.

I bought it because of its size and simple design. I am very careful when I close the doors, however, after 8 months part of the gasket seal broke off and the others are tearing apart too. If the seal/flap for the bottom part will come apart, there will be a gap and cold air will escape.
Jenette01/13/2023 04:54 PM
Heads up! Cracks in the lining in front of the veggie/fruit bins 8 months after purchase. Cost too much for this to happen. Whirlpool in not so many words informed me I would have to suck it up...defect is "cosmetic."

Garbage. The refrigerator AND the company. The refigerator stopped working COMPLETELY after two months. And the company refused to replace it. And I am TWO WEEKS into waiting for parts and without a refigerator. DONT BUY ANYTHING AT ALL EVER FROM WHIRLPOOL.

We ordered and received it within a week. It is perfect for the space and looks great. I definitely would order it again.

I have had this fridge for only 5 months and the top door gasket is ripping. I don't know if this was a defective piece or a poor design, but for what I paid for this fridge it shouldn't be falling apart. I don't want to have to buy an extended warranty to pay for this again in the future. The repairman had to order the part and there were only two in stock. Maybe another bad sign.

I was not informed in advance that the sides get hot. We have cabinets on both sides including our pantry. The inside of the pantry is hot from the refrigerator but it’s past the three days so we can’t return it. I called and complained but really they didn’t care . We should have been informed in advance. Not everybody has a side open next to the refrigerator. We have cabinets on both sides. They should have a note on the refrigerator on the sales floor, instead, the warning was inside the bag with the owners manual. Otherwise we would not have purchased it now I have to deal with warm food in my pantry. Says label to be removed by the customer, but it wasn’t even on the fridge was in the bag after delivery

So far so good with this fridge. Recently upgraded from a 20 year old Roper. I love that I can see everything at once, especially in the freezer. The freezer has tray drawers that pull out. Nothing gets lost. We have a galley kitchen and this saves us 7 inches of depth which made such a huge difference.

Counter Depth fridge with is very sleek. I love the two separate freezers with individual temperature controls. The four door fridge is sleek and gives the Kitchen that certain je ne sais quoi!

I like that the fridge is counter depth and the 4 doors. But, when I was taking off the protective plastic on the shelves, the silver finish came off with the plastic so now it looks streaky. I thought the temperature would adjust higher on the bottom right, to make it the same temp as the refrigerator, but it only goes to 10 degrees which does make for scoopable ice cream. They didn't put a butter keeper in the door. There's room instead of a shelf. Not sure why.

The refrigerator overall does well. But several things could be improved to make it a better unit. 1-Have clear directions with the original delivery on how to use the unit. All refrigerators are different and we did not easily find helpful hints for loading unit and foods storage, so we went back to our old Whirlpool refig methods and they worked far worse in the new unit. 2-Have a more durable door seal. We have a tear on our right refrig unit door gasket and asked for warranty service. The service person said that was normal wear and tear and the factory often removes the torn / missing tab anyway. REALLY??? 3-Set the ice maker shut off level lower. By the time the ice maker stops making cubes the tray storing the cubs is overfilled, and the ice is swept off the top into the freezer when we pull out the tray to retreive ice.

I bought this fridge two years ago and all of the door seals are breaking off causing major gaps for cold air to come out. One photo shows a major hole where you can see light coming out (I put a flashlight in the fridge). It appears that the door seals had seams that it tore along as the door was opened/closed with normal use. The cold air leaking out has now caused mildew to grow. Since it’s past the one year warranty, whirlpool says they can’t do anything unless I buy replacement parts. I would not recommend this brand/model.

I liked this design the moment l saw it. The quad doors make so much sense and the ease of opening the them and then retrieving items from the freezer is a pleasure. The only odd design feature is that neither the door shelves or the inside shelves can accommodate a 2-liter bottle or a 2-quart jug unless they are on their sides. So far no spilling or leaking from either has occurred, and this wouldn’t be the fridge’s fault if that does occur; hopefully it won’t ever happen. Otherwise we feel the ridge has plenty of room and the lighting is terrific, too!

Save yourself the headache and don’t get this fridge. It was all good until the one year warranty is up and the door seal/gasket is broken. Now the doors sweats and I noticed black mold on my seals. The seal replacement is like what $100 or so, which I would not have mind it if the fridge would at least last me 5 years. This is beyond flimsy.
Helke08/26/2024 02:40 PM
Some real serious design flaws with this fridge. The only way to store anything taller than a milk carton is to sacrifice a lot of door space and put them in the door. That's not where I want heavy bottles of wine/water/condiments. The right produce drawer doesn't open without both front doors open. I'm sure the ice drawer is going to get cracked soon, as it's very easy to contact the front edge of the lip with the lower door panel if you don't have the door open way wider than you think it needs to be. And now after just a few months of use it's starting to make some really unnerving buzzing/grinding sounds. I emptied the fridge completely and pulled it away from the wall and the noises persist. I don't expect a long life from this appliance. I was wooed by the style of this, but I wish I had kept shopping.

We have a 1970’s house. The area for the fridge is a hallway into a butlers pantry. Horrible! For years we’ve delt will the close quarters and if you wanted to get by the person at the fridge forget it. Moving furniture past the fridge was a feat. Now our counter depth quad door with 3 temps is so awesome. This works so great for either someone who entertains with very little freezer items or someone like us with a deep freeze in addition to our counter depth. We love it!!!
Quad door05/04/2022 03:38 AM
The 4 door was a cool concept we thought the bottom right would be able to be used as extra refrigerator storage but it only goes up to 19 degrees. When you open the right door you can’t slide open the fruit bin. Handles are every which way so you are opening under and over switching hand positions constantly
Thricej10/04/2020 12:57 PM
This has been the most disappointing refrigerator I have ever owned. The interior space is extremely limited, the shelves are too narrow, and they are not adjustable. It is not possible to fit even a standard wine bottle alongside two containers, which makes the design highly impractica Shelf height 4” deli drawer 18” x 3”x 12” Do not buy this fridge. Unless you are using it as decorations.
Azita09/19/2025 05:46 AM
Refrigerator seal will break after warranty is over. The part is designed to fail, it even has a fold where it will accelerate the failure of the gasket. The gasket costs $188 to replace (per side), DO NOT buy this model, they do not know how to make french door refrigerators. STAY AWAY AT ALL COST! Its a scam!

My wife and I really love this new refrigerator. We love having more space in the two bottom freezer compartments. I especially love the main refrigerator on top, where as our old one was on the bottom, and I had to get on my knees in order to reach items; so, no more bending over daily! This refrigerator is very quiet; we hardly hear a peep out of it all day. We love the ice tray rack. We decided not to hook up the ice maker, because we just installed new laminate flooring. We may have a little less space than our old refrigerator, but we made the needed adjustments, and everything is great.

We live in a condo with a galley style kitchen that can feel crowded with 2 or 3 trying to work. This fridge is sleek, with no raised handles on the front to collide with. No water or ice dispenser means maximum storage inside on both doors and a very quiet ice maker. Twin doors for the freezer means great organization, with everything visible and accessible. (Yes, a regular sized pizza can sit horizontally, yes, drawers can be removed to fit a Birdzilla sized turkey.) The temperature for each freezer side can be set independently, too. We've owned Whirlpool before, and they've been solid. (No history of compressor failures and repair nightmares like some reviews of popular competitors.) We're very pleased with our choice!

We bought this fridge after owning an Amana for over 25 years with very, very few issues. The few times we had service on the Amana we were always told to not ever get rid of this old friend because "they don't make them like this anymore." They were so right! It finally died because it needed the Freon replaced, which we were told is no longer available. I liked this model initially because of the bottom freezer that was not a pull out drawer. Also, we didn't want a fancier model to avoid future computerized issues. Overall, it looked really nice. Now after having it for only 6 months, the left side door has 2 BROKEN screws in it (see pictures below) that are not allowing a tight seal. Therefore, the open door alarm is sounding at random times, sometimes for a lengthy period of time, other times for just a short beep. Since we are within the warranty period, we called the authorized service provider. Now the hinge is on order so we have no idea when this will be repaired. Not pleased at all!
