I've had glasstop stoves previously for many years and have never experienced a similar issue with other (and cheaper!) brands. In just the matter of 9 months, this cooktop looks like it's about 10 years old! It scratches ridiculously easy and looks terrible once it does. We got it simply to match our other appliances and while we're happy with the oven/microwave and the refrigerator, this cooktop is a major eyesore. At this point, I would have preferred mismatched brands if it meant that the quality of the glass top would be be better, which it would be based on prior experience with other brands. Cannot recommend this item - go with another manufacturer.

Defective cooktop got permanent white marks right away (and internal smoke, but that cleared up). Warranty support sent someone out who reported the unit was safe to use and didn’t include his own opinion that the cooktop material was a problem. “Support” then suggested using Affresh although I explained it was the material, not food debris. Bought it and used Affresh of course didn’t fix the problem, now “support” declares the problem “cosmetic” and not covered by warranty. I have a brand new kitchen full of KitchenAid appliances, and all looks great except the cooktop looks like it’s been very used and abused for years! How can that be OK for a new cooktop under warranty? Answer: it’s not.

I am happy I choose Kitchen Aid! I will definitely recommend kitchen aid to anybody. It’s a great piece to invest in your kitchen.

Horrible cooktop! First time using it and now I have bubbles under the glass. I was just frying eggs! this is unbelievable. Worst of all is that warranty covers the glass BUT NOT SERVICE! so I have to pay $134.95 for someone to go check if cooktop is under warranty and if so, pay extra (who knows how much) to fix it. But the glass is covered! what a joke!!

This unit was installed in our new build 3 years ago. While the elements work well, the glass surface is subpar compared to our inexpensive range from Sears. The chrome base for the knobs come unattached from the glass. A chip on the edge of the side resulted in a large crack from it to one of the unsecured Knob holes (caused by a weakness, I would imagine). The surface scratches easily, my old range had my teenagers using it and when cleaned looked as new as the day it was installed, not the case with this one. Also, some odd squiggly lines showed up beneath the surface after just a few uses. I have been very unhappy with this. Would NOT recommend

This cooktop is only good if you’re heating up water!! If your pot has anything at bottom will scratch cooktop.!! Is poor quality. I purchased this cooktop and after first used it scratched. Then after 4 months of having it looks as if had it for years. My GE cooktop after many years never looked this bad. Is aesthetically pleasing, sleek but with no functionality. Is not worth the price.

Brand new unit, in new-construction home. Like the performance, but see evidence in these 3 pics of some sort of imperfection or damage in the glass edge of the cooktop. To the touch, this is a sharp, cutting edge that is a safety risk. My builder (Drees Company) said they don't warrant it.

We bought this back in February and so far we absolutely love it. So easy to use and clean up is simple.

The cooktop looks nice overall. I had to enlarge the original 30" standard opening in the granite to make this cooktop fit. I had to cut 3/4" on the front edge and 7/8" on either side. The depth was also a little deeper, so I had to modify the cabinet drawer under the cooktop to drop it 3/8" to make it still usable. I did not use the rubber strips on the underside edge during final installation because it would have been impossible to determine the exact position of the strips so they wouldn’t mash out beyond the edge of the stainless steel cooktop edge once it was seated. I did not want them to be recessed either as food crumbs would get trapped under there. Instead, I just used a thin bead of clear caulk underneath to seal the edge. My granite is very level, so I have no gaps. It looks very precise and nicely fitted. The cooktop seems to work well and throws off a lot of heat. That was my first observation when my wife was cooking her first meal. I said, "Whoa! That thing throws off a lot of heat." I really like the five burners, which is why we wanted a new cooktop. I have a couple of issues. One is with the circular markings on the glass top. They are quite difficult to see to keep the pan centered. It's like the etching in the glass is too dark and thin. I also don't like not having markings or increments around the control knobs. They are just 'L' to 'H' and a sweeping arc. No tick marks that I can get familiar with for certain temperatures. I will need to learn this unit based on relative position instead. Overall, it’s nice and seems to perform well.

This cook top is excellent! I love no open flame burners..Heats up very quickly and cooks all my food perfect and fast! No burners to clean...Beautiful to look at and really adds more class to our counter tops and kitchen!

I purchased my cooktop from Best Buy. The installers nor the salesperson explained how to clean the cooktop. I had residue from food boiling out onto the cooktop. I rubbed and rubbed with a soft cloth and after 1/2 hour I was able to completely remove the residue. However I noticed rubbed marks on my new cooktop. KitchenAid more or less said too bad. I am not a happy customer.

I bought this about a year ago maybe sooner. I am not sure. Finally got done with the kitchen remodel/install. All I can say is WOW!!! It looks so amazing in my kitchen installed right into the quartz counter top!!! I’m going to try and submit pictures. But I am not too tech savvy. You will just have to take my word. Thanks KitchenAid for making an amazing cooktop!!
TEETEEWOODCLAN#1310/01/2025 04:33 AM
It offer a wide range of element sizes including a super large triple burner all the way down to a simmer burner. Great looking metal knobs. There is a ring around the knobs on the glass to prevent crumbs from falling into the electrical area inside the cooktop.
Love to cook!01/01/2022 09:25 PM
I bought this earlier this year and give it little to no use, I was cooking and when finished I removed the pot from the cooking top and immediately noticed that the glass had made bubbles and 2 broke the glass and white spots also appeared. I tried contacting the dealer to get it either fixed or changed and they've been dragging my case for over 3 months now, with no resolution. Terrible costumer service.

Just had this cooktop installed an few months ago after we remodeled our kitchen. It looks beautiful and heats up quickly. We love it! My only complaint would be that we spent a lot of money for our new KitchenAid appliances and the cooktop didn’t come with a cleaning kit…you have to purchase it separately.
JHill7707/16/2022 02:16 AM
We bought the KitchenAid, because it was 1 of a very few with 5 elements, with 1 of the elements able to handle a large stockpot and wide dutch oven pan. Those looking for similar features will be pleased. Just note that this cooktop will require a cabinet that fits a 36" top or just under 35" (~34 11/16 cooktop under unit) and 50 amp circuit breaker.

Bought six months ago and there is crack inside it.

I purchased this a month ago, and the 1st time I used i, the top left burner looks like it bubbled. Cooktop functions well, except for the top left burner. Spoke to KitchenAid and was told they couldn’t do anything about it. They’re sending a technician but they won’t guarantee a solution. I purchased directly from KitchenAid so I wouldn’t deal with the middle man…guess I was wrong

I love the overall size, the burner options and how quickly it heats. I also found that I much prefer the knobs to the complete flat-top, all electronic model. I wish I could have gotten this model with a "bridge" for a griddle, but that is really the only "complaint" I have, which is not a major one. I still believe that all glass cooktops generally are difficult because of cleaning; however, that is true for ALL brands and configurations and there are no other options for those of us who do not have access to gas. I have purchased suggested cleaners, which helps, but I still wish there was a simpler way to keep them clean and beautiful.

I owned this electric cooktop for not longer than a year and the glass is stained and scratched also the knobs are falling apart

Replaced my 1998 KitchenAid appliances. Did this as it would fit and electrical in same place but it wasn’t and my husband had to tweak it to get the electrical to the area of the electrical box. When we ordered this, told it was special order but 5 in the wearhouse and she called to verify it could be delivered the same time as other appliances. We removed the cook top the night before the delivery and it was not on the delivery truck. Sales person refused to give me the regional rep she called, so I only had her word an at this point I did not feel she was reliable but giving me lip service. Customer service should go up to the rep if necessary.

We had our kitchen remodeled and switched from gas to electric. We love the way everything looks but are still getting used to cooking on electric Only had the cooktop for a month. It has a lot of features with have not tried yet. So far everything is working well. It’s probably going to take us months to really test out the cooktops features Keeping it clean and pretty was an early problem (it’s a big glass top) but we have got that figured out now

Pros: - Quiet Cons: - Controlling the temperature is impossible and very frustrating. An example: I was cooking chili on the dual front burner - set a little bit above "low" and the chili was boiling. I turned it to "low", and five minutes later it was still boiling. Waited another five minutes - still boiling. It sometimes almost feels impossible to get the temperature low enough without turning the burner off. - The overall design is poor. 1) It is very difficult to see the outlines of the burners. 2) The red light indicating that the cooktop is hot, doesn't indicate which burner is actually still hot (which had been a feature on our previous Jenn-Air cooktop). 3) The single/dual burner control knobs work oppositely. To turn on the right front single burner, you turn the knob to the left. To turn on the left front single burner you turn knob to the right. (see photo to better understand - to design it this way just doesn't make sense) We've been using this appliance for over a year now and are still very unhappy with it.
