It installed very easily and without any modifications. About the only topic of contention might be the documentation. The Install booklet was well written and illustrated nicely to help . . .And it did. Having put a few of these units in, and being somewhat familiar with their basic designs, I was surprised that the enclosed install booklet made no mention of the Anode Rod. I was pretty sure this model had one but As I mentioned, there wasn't anything said about where it was located and how often to heck it. Maybe it's because I've been burnt in the past by overlooking the maintenance on the Anode rod. Wanting further information , I went on the GE website and looked up this unit. Color me surprised when I found another booklet listed for my model but contained additional information about the Anode Rod. One of the Customer Service folks came online and when I mentioned what I had found, he replied that there were few differences between the two booklets but didn't seem to be bothered by the discrepancies. Like I said, color me surprised! ! ! But, wanting to leave on a more positive note, I have it installed and went in without a hitch . .. And looking forward to providing us with ample hot water a lot faster than from way across the house. Too much wasted water that way! ! !

We added this to our 3rd floor master bathroom and it was so easy! The guys were done before I knew it! A great product when it takes a bit for hotwater to come from the main tank.

It works great for our dog bath at 4Paws River Lodge.

1-Mounting bracket seems not as sturdy as it could be, there's a lot of movement side to side after mounting the heater and I'll probably add a bracket under the heater because of this; it will be even heavier when full of water. 2-I screwed into the studs with the provided hardware and one of the screws just snapped in half with very little torque, even pre-drilled the holes-luckily I had a threaded bolt that is the right size which I used instead. Not a huge deal, but doesn't scream top quality. 3-The water heater itself has inlet and outlet on the top, and no drain. It says if the heater won't be used for awhile, to disconnect the connections and drain it. Used swivel unions so it will be easier to disconnect, but the idea that the manual says I should take the heater off the wall and tip it over to drain it and siphon as needed, seems ludicrous. Not convenient. It seems like a good size, so we'll see how the performance is. So far not super impressed.
