Refrigerator was part of our new house incentives. We really like the refrigerator side 4 shelves and 3 storage bins. The freezer side is small due to the large ice maker, and small door storage. The low rating would be the water dispenser it's front high were ice is in the back. The water is so forward that when it leaks it doesn't fall in the tray (which there's none) it runs down the door and starts leaving a water trail stain on stainless fridge. Lastly it would have been really nice to have a water filter status indicator. We really like side by sides but we would have choosen a different model/brand if we would of bought our own.

The bottom is coming apart. The leg piece on the left is bent. Water drips from water dispenser

We got this as part of new construction. The main refrigerator side door has shelves that are made of plastic (which is okay) but its very cheap plastic. But the problem is that the door is such that often when I am closing it, I get hold of one of the shelves and close the door. The shelves don't stick to the side door well and come out easily. We have broken 2 of the shelves within the first month just because they fell when they come out of the side door and crack easily. Extremely poor shelf material quality. We also had a huge issue of the ice maker not defrosting automatically, which caused cooling to fail. However, whirlpool was quick to fix it.

Within a month of getting this refrigerator all the food on the fridge started to freeze. The freezer side started to create frost. Called whirlpool customer service and they sent a tech. The tech said he needed to order a new part because it wasn’t working. After two weeks of not hearing from anyone, I called whirlpool and they said that the piece was just been delivered and that they will fixed it within a week. In conclusion, I got a new fridge that didn’t work, rather than offering a new one. I had to wait 1 week to get a tech, 2 weeks for a part, 1 week to be installed, and lost over $200 worth on food.

Purchased $3500.00 worth of appliances in December of 2020, had cooling issues with the fridge and freezer, set at max temps the freezer only gets to 10 above zero, and the fridge is 41-42 degrees. Been sending repair team to fix it since February 2021 still not fixed, customer service or maybe should say tech department is terrible. I even purchased a extended warranty witch hasn't even applied yet. First new appliances I ever purchased all Whirlpool I'm telling you I wish I would have chosen a different brand, very, very disappointed. Everything else seems good but the fridge. 5 months and they won't replace the fridge. People BEWARE !

With an energy program I qualified for because I am below poverty level I was presented with my new Whirlpool refrigerator and am very satisfied with the product EXCEPT I would really appreciate being able to move the shelves. At my age and the fact that I have had both hips replaced since November of 2018 it would be less strenuous on me if I could have my gallon jugs of milk or juices on a lower level. It would help me and it would allow my grandchildren to access these items without my help. It would help them in their adventure to more independent visits with me.

Looks nice but The water dispenser does not get very cold. There is no drain and water runs down the door!

I have a brand new refrigerator that is not working as expected Not getting cool - food getting bad Freezer not freezing food Difficult contacting Customer Support Long wait for service Will NOT buy/recommend this to anyone
Sneha07/15/2025 02:15 AM
Do not recommend, our fridge lasted only a year, and only a few day’s after the warranty, yet they didn’t cover anything. The customer service was horrible and I can’t believe the fridge is garbage in only about a year, since the repairs cost more than a new fridge. Never buy any of their appliances

Got this Fridge with my New Construction home, I have always love the brand, in this case only this reference has not mee the expectation the brand has created in me, lot of plastic components, ice dispenser is getting stuck with couple of drops, having to empty it so it can work, space is also limited, coming from a basic fridge with freezer on top and fridge below I though this one was going to be lot more roomie but not necessarily, specially on the freezer side. I know there is a lot more options to chose from, in this case was not my option to select the reference, was the one that came with the house so, I may be getting a new one.

I purchase a brand new house November 26th night 2025. My refrigerator never worked, The builders would not help me. They told me to call Whirlpool. I contacted Whirlpool. I was on the phone for 2 hours then they sent me to someone who would not come out. My refrigerator was not fixed until January of this year so I had a refrigerator that did not work. No one would give me a replacement. I am very disappointed and I still want a replacement. Like I was told a new refrigerator should not need work on it. I should not have had to call maintenance for a new refrigerator, so I know I'm going to have more issues out of the refrigerator

Fridge came with the newly constructed home. It would not have been my first, or even my 5th choice. Small capacity, loud when compressor is running, and narrow ice/water dispenser make this fridge a poor choice. Functionally it works well and does it's job. The ice/water dispenser is very poorly designed and tends to spray water all over the floor if your glass is not exactly lined up. There is no capacity to hold overflow water in the tray underneath the dispenser and any overflow water ends up running down the door of the fridge to the floor which necessitates a mat underneath to catch the water.

THE REFRIGERATOR IS TOO HARD TO KEEP CLEAN DAY TO DAY. IT'S ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO KEEP STREAKS FROM APPEARING EVEN AFTER USING A CLEANER MEANT FOR THAT PURPOSE! THE ICE MAKER IS WAY TOO LOUD! IT MAKES SEVERAL SOUNDS BUT, THE LOUDEST IS A "KNOCKING"! I CALLED AND REPORT THIS BUT, I WAS TOLD WHAT WE'RE HEARING IS PERFECTLY NORMAL. I FIND THAT HARD TO BELEIVE! I REALLY DON'T THINK THESE PROBLEMS ACCEPTABLE. I AM SO DISAPPOINTED AND HEART-BROKEN. I WAS SO PROUD OF MY PURCHASE BECAUSE I KNEW WHIRLPOOL TO BE A GOOD REPUTABLE COMPANY. SAD IN BLUFFTON, SC!

Had this for 3 weeks and so far works fine. This was part of the package of appliances that our builder put in. It has some design features that would stop me from purchasing again. First there is one lever to get ice out of the door. It is below the lever you puch to get water. Very poorly designed. Difficult to get the ice out without hitting the water lever. Water gets all over. Plus there is no drain or catch basin to catch excess water so it is constantly dripping down the front of the unit.. Second, there are too many drawers and not enough shelves in the refigerator section.

I researched refrigerators extensively before purchasing. I almost didn’t buy this one because several people complained about it being too noisy. My previous refrigerator must have been extremely noisy, because this one is more quiet. The ice maker does not generate a ton of ice, but it has been more than sufficient for my family of 5 (with kids that love crushed ice). The only real knock I have is the water dispenser is too far forward, if you don’t wait a second after dispensing it will dribble down the front. It is not a big deal as we have already gotten acclimated to it. I’m very pleased with the value of this purchase.

Getting ice from the front of the door is a problem. We are guessing it's melting ice that pools there and when you open the freezer door. Water gets all over the floor. First time we have encounter this type of issue. It's a pain to constantly wipe water off the floor or to wipe it up from the door before you open the freezer.

I bought this after I had to get a refund from Samsung and I am very happy with. Everything works great including the ice maker! I would have given it 5 stars but the surface is not smooth and will scratch easily. But kids are grown and gone so not a deal breaker
Nana T07/24/2022 12:23 PM
Nice fridge. Our old GE finally gave out. Wasn’t looking for a whirlpool necessarily but a fridge pretty quick. Only issue is the meat and veggie bins don’t slide out real smooth. Other issue is the ice stopped dispensing. After some detective work, we found the problem. The chute where the ice comes out of the bin in the freezer into the door moves loose a little sometimes on the door. The chute hits the light switch which tells the fridge the door is shut to dispense ice. It just has to be push back over a bit to hit the switch.

I just wanted a white EnergyStar rated refrigerator with an icemaker. This was literally the first thing I could get delivered last fall. Has always made lots of noises, some worse than others--I have attached a video of the most egregious one. Also struggles to cool, which is sort of a refrigerator's main job?...As you can see in the video, the thermometer shows 40 degrees in the bottom (which should be the coolest part, no, as cold air sinks?), despite having it on the coldest setting. (Video sounds better on my phone than the PC--not sure why most of the sound isn't coming through on PC.) I could handle the non-adjustable shelves--doors are adjustable, so that should give everyone enough flexibility, but the various noises and the fact that it won't stay very cold doesn't inspire confidence.

This Frig now cost $300.00 more. I bought it to replace my aging 25 cu ft side by side, also Whirlpool. All of the manual dials and control are gone for the digital controls right there on the water/ice dispenser. The ice this one makes is smaller cubes than any old one and as such makes ice pretty darned fast. I use ice daily and the bin is always full. And when the dispenser remains engaged, it dumps ice out at a very fast rate so my large drinking mug fills quickly. I had heard complaints about noise but I don't have any problems with the noise levels on the device. All-in-all a great frig.

Ever since we purchased this refrigerator we have had issues with the ice maker. It stops working a lot! Honestly, it is not working more than it is working. Five years of wondering if we will have ice today or not. The bottom of our ice tray broke by the rotator getting stuck on huge clumps of ice. Now that we are past our warranty, the replacement parts are $300.00. When the ice maker is working, ice gets stuck in the shoot and then leaks onto the door or just falls out when it melts. We had Home Depot repair come out shortly after we purchased our fridge, and they are less than helpful. They just said the leaking of ice was a common thing, and they can't do anything about it. I would not recommend this model.

Have had the fridge for a couple of weeks. It was of the few side by sides with a good energy rating. I appreciate the ergonomics of the water/ice dispenser as it is less likely to throw ice on the floor & spray water everywhere, like my last one. A small thing is that you can easily see where the water is emerging from and it is coming out straight down. These 2 factors make it simpler to position your glass correctly. Our last one was hidden from easy viewing in a dark recess and seemed to spray at a 45°angle. My only criticism is that the number of shelves and bins is marginal, but easily remedied.

I bought it through the builder Minto and it was heavily marked up for an inferior product in which Minto knows of and admits the units are noisy. They charged me approximately $2200 to $2500 for the unit which is worthless to me. It is a noisy unit and I have to close my bedroom door to sleep for the first time in my adult life so it does not keep me awake. It was a scam by Minto to mark it up like they did knowing they are defectively noisy. I scheduled a service and I will not pay if you say you think it’s not a warranty issue because it is an I know it’s an inferior product. If it can be serviced and may help as stated by Mintos home warranty person dealing with with my house.

This brand new refrigerator came with our new house. We moved in the beginning of August and the refrigerator stopped cooling and needed repair and replacement of 2 parts on August 13. After the parts were replaced, the refrigerator failed again on September 1 for the same reason. I cannot possibly tell you how upsetting it is to move into a new house and receive a refrigerator that never worked from the start. I requested a replacement upon the first failure and was told that the policy is to repair before replace. How is that acceptable when the refrigerator was NEVER used?! I hope someone from Whirlpool actually reads this and does something to correct this because I cannot possibly rate a “brand new” refrigerator that never worked to begin with.
