• I share what FredCQ said in terms of humidity and length of drying time. Drying time was expected when I bought the dryer. The humidity gets worse with time. It helps to open a window in the laundry room during spring and fall. Summer is too humid outside and winter, well it defeats the purpose of a ventless dryer. The major issue is the maintenance it requires. We clean both filters every load. We noticed water under the dryer after 18 months or so. Not a lot to worry. Then the drying times doubled and continued to increase. 2 years after we bough it I opened it up. There was some lint inside and kept going until I got to the condenser. It was completely blocked. I cleaned it as best I could and put it all back together and it is now working great again. Miele has a dryer with the condenser unit that comes out to be cleaned and that would be great for this dryer as well. So just be aware that this cleaning is required. Either doing it yourself if you are comfortable or getting a service person to do it.

• This is my second Whirlpool heatpump dryer. First one was “totaled” after several service calls. The problem is well known. There is a severe buildup of lint on the condenser coils after approximately every 6 months. The machine has to be taken apart to clean them. Otherwise, drying times increase significantly and heat builds up inside the dryer and it will shutoff to cool down. Thankfully I purchased the extended warranty and received the newer version the second time. Same thing happened with my 2nd machine, I have had 2 units in the past several years and both machines were beyond repair. It’s a shame, because it’s a great idea, but the internal coils cannot be cleaned unless you take the whole machine apart. I. giving up on the ventless heat pump idea and going back to a traditional vented dryer. My last load of laundry with this machine took over 5 hours to dry. This machine ended up using more energy than a traditional vented dryer. Unbelievable that Whirlpool is still making this piece of junk!

• I purchased this dryer as I recently moved from a house to a condo and wanted a full size dryer. The condo requires ventless dryers. I refused to purchase a compact dryer. They are too small and take a very long time to dry. I was told by several people, including the appliance salesperson, this dryer was the same. It would take hours to dry clothes. So against all recommendations, I purchased this dryer and a paired Whirlpool washer with a stacking kit. I had my contractor enlarge the closet so that the units would fit. The previous ones were compact and not very good. After a couple of months of use, the Whirlpool heat pump dryer operates nearly identical to a vented dryer. Dry times for clothing is about the same. Towels are maybe 15 to 20 minutes longer. It has never been the “hours to dry a load of clothes” I was warned against. This is my first purchase of Whirlpool dryer and washer. I’ve previously owned Samsung. They have exceeded my expectations in all areas except one. The dryer lint screen is flimsy and one of the flaps that pop up when you remove the screen broke. I’ve contacted Whirlpool and they are repairing. Other than that I’m very satisfied with the product.

• Received delivery from Home Depot on 3/10. Broke on 3/21! Three weeks on a $900+ dryer? Really, Whirlpool?! How is this acceptable? Certified Whirlpool appliance tech diagnosed/ordered new ACU (aka control board/brain) on Monday April 2nd. Date for part continuously changing, because, THERE ARE NO PARTS. They're all backordered. (Before you buy, plug in the model number yourself on the parts page and you'll see why you should be concerned.) I can't understand how you can offer a full warranty, when there are no parts to fulfill said warranty. I would appreciate speaking to someone to begin the process of a full refund.

• Our dryer is only 2 years old and has never worked well. It doesn't fully dry clothes and after running for nearly 3 hours clothes are still damp. The dryer has been making more noise as time goes on and the last straw was yesterday when it started to make a loud roaring noise. See video. A technician told us we need to replace the motor and it would cover $800 to repair. Ridiculous. This is unacceptable for a name brand like Whirlpool. And only two years old. Are you kidding me - right out of warranty but still relatively new. I am beyond disappointed. DO NOT purchase this dryer.

• The performance of the dryer seems ok.but I would have wanted a light inside the dryer..I never had a dryer with out a light. There is a button for the light and a cut out, but no light. I guess whirlpool is just cheapping out on there products these days. I checked customers review after I discovered no light and many other customers would thought there would be a light as well and they were not impressed either.

• I didn't see as much energy savings as I was expecting from switching from a normal electric dryer to a ventless heat pump dryer. After 6 months of use, the dryer randomly stops spinning and makes grinding sounds with a fan running - I think trying to cool down. After looking where the second filter is, there is a non removeable screen and there is dryer lint on the evaporator coils that I can't clean without taking the dryer apart. It seems I will be taking the dryer apart to clean it every 6 months. I called a repair person to take a look and he is in the process of replacing the drum motor, but because of the lint, I am skeptical that will fix the issue. The dryer needs to be designed so it is easier to clean the evaporator and condenser coils.

• Brand new Dryer broke on the third cycle giving E2 F9 error. This was the replacement for the existing dryer for the same issue and took a month to get fixed. Called the service technician he had no idea what this error was. Extremely frustrating experience and the waste of money.

• We have had this ventless dryer for two years, it has a screen in a box at the bottom of the dryer. There is no access to the internal screens, which you cannot clean out, lint builds up in 6 months and there is no possible way to clean the lint out, fire hazard if you can't clean it! You have to pay for a service repair person to come take it apart and clean it for you at a cost between $100-$200 or more at least once a year *not covered by warranty ) I will never purchase this type of dryer again! The last service person that came to repair the water pump said he could not clean the screen and left everything dirty.

• I bought this dryer to replace my 2008 Whirlpool stackable. It was the only model available for replacement. The controls are nice. Many options, NO INTERIOR LIGHT. Also, the door does not switch from left opening to right opening like the previous model. Why would a NEWER model have FEWER features? I am dealing, but not really happy.

• This unit consistently raises humidity in the house and can also spread lint into your home. Clothes such as blankets and towels often have a mildew odor. I have figured out how to get rid of the odor by using extra dryer sheets and running the washer with extra spin to drain as much water as possible. If you have an airtight home, be warned that this unit is a significant source of humidity and the lint can adversely affect indoor air-quality. The humidity can get high enough that there can be a small drip from the front bottom part of the frame and water can pool on the floor (5-6 tbsp). The smaller 24" units from other vendors don't seem to have this issue. The unit also gets quite hot to touch, so I really doubt that this unit is well insulated and energy efficient.

• I purchased my dryer June 2021 with a warranty. In October the dryer stopped running after a few minutes with an error code that was addressed in the manual as "call service". I called Whirlpool and they had no factory-authorized repair companies in my area! The insurance company said they'd reimburse me after getting estimates from another company to for them to authorize the repairs. We only found one company that would come to our house to repair this dryer - no one has experience with it. I am very unhappy, I chose Whirlpool for its reputation and being an American company. It is now January and I am still without a dryer. Did I say UNHAPPY? And ANGRY.

• We chose this dryer for its ventless design, and were initially happy with it. But despite cleaning both lint traps every time we use the dryer, over time a thick layer of lint has built up on the heat pump, which is completely inaccessible for cleaning. Recently that buildup has developed a horrible moldy smell-the dryer cannot run for even a short time without the laundry room and whatever is being dried smelling like mildew, and so without some kind of a fix the dryer is unusable. The estimate for cleaning the heat pump is $200, and will require unstacking the dryer, taking it to the repair shop and disassembling the machine to access and clean the heat pump. When I purchased the machine none of the reviews mentioned this problem, but now I see it as a frequent complaint. How Whirlpool let a product with this massive a design flaw come to production is beyond me!

• I strongly regret that I purchased this ventless dryer. It require too much "lint cleaning" from 2 separate filters every time, and each time I have to use my cordless vacuum to remove lint from the filter and to reach the back of it, located front of compressor. After used this dryer for 7 months, I see some lint build up on the compressor which require a professional clean service. That's too much! As other people say, the entire laundry room get so hot like sauna and also it takes long time to dry clothes.I wish I can trade in this dryer for regular one. It need high maintenance and not worth to have for the family of 5 which have lots of laundry. Very disappointed.

• We have had this dryer just over a year and it has performed well, but has a major design flaw with regard to accessing the evaporator coil to clear lint that gets past the lower lint filter & protective screen behind the lower filter. The lower filter housing also needs to be removed after use and set on top of the dryer to let the chamber dry out as condensation occurs in this area and develops a moldy smell if you do not let the chamber dry out. We have cleaned both lint filters after every load. There is a mesh screen behind the lower filter that protects the evaporator coil. It collects lint which gets past the lower filter and we vacuum it periodically to avoid lint on the evaporator coil. Unfortunately, lint still gets on the evaporator coil and there is no way to access the coil due to the screen being non-removable. We had a service tech scheduled thru Whirlpool come out six months ago to look at the condensation/smell issue and expressed our concern that lint was building up on the coil, but he had no answers on how to address either issue other than to wipe out the condensation, even after calling the Whirlpool's technical support team. We found pulling the lower filter out, drying the chamber with a towel and setting the filter housing on top of the dryer after use helped the condensation / smell issue, but have not been able to avoid the build up of lint on the evaporator coil despite our best efforts to clean the lower filter and vent screen. We are now just over one year of ownership and the coil is mostly clogged and we are not finding any help from other reviews on this site, other than to contact Whirlpool thru the Facebook link. From other reviews on this site and other online research, it looks like the only way to get to the coil is to completely disassemble the dryer. This will likely cost hundreds of dollars for a service tech to do and if required on an annual basis, is completely unacceptable. Can someone from Whirlpool follow up with us on a solution? Here is a photo for reference. You will notice that the outer screen is clean and the coil is mostly clogged. Really bummed about this as we overall like the dryer, but are concerned that this lint build up is going to negate the energy efficiency that a heat pump dryer is supposed to provide or worse, damage the dryer. Seems like all is needed is a removable protective screen so that the coil can be periodically vacuumed.

• Purchased this dryer two years ago. It never dries the clothes on a single cycle, so I have to set it to time dry for an addition 30 minutes for every load. The 1st service call was 7 months after purchase. Even though I cleaned the lint traps religiously, (with a vacuum!) the interior of the dryer was loaded with lint and it leaked water all over the floor. It ran after a service call to clean it out without leaking water for 8 months. It's again full of lint, leaking water all over the floor, ruined a nice wool rug, and won't dry the clothes. The service folks indicated that the water pump has failed so it will be a more expensive service call this time around. I contacted Whirlpool for help after the first issue and got auto responses. No human being ever responded. Terrible product and terrible service. BTW the Whirlpool warrantee reimbursement rate is so low that none of the local service providers will accept their terms. I have to hang clothes on racks and a clothes line, when it's not raining and it's been a wet New England summer! I have a Whirlpool refrigerator and had multiple problems with that as well in addition to the fact that the warrantee folks could not locate a service person and told me I'd have to find one myself! So the "extended warrantee" is a waste of money...NO MORE WHIRLPOOL PRODUCTS. I've learned my lesson the hard way. I'm surprised no-one has filed a class action suit on this lousy product. It should not be on the market.

• I love this washer/dryer. Its vent-less so you need to get that it will take longer to dry. I am fine with that. I am obsessive about constantly cleaning both filters. Even during a cycle at times. I usually vacuum out both vents daily! BUT. Last night drying and the glass door exploded off! Has this happened to anyone? 2 years old. I am so shocked. Any feedback?

• Perfect solution in a small salon where we had no option to install a vented dryer, and works much better than our previous condenser dryer. I made a mistake a year ago trying to save a few hundred dollars buying another brand's mid-size condenser dryer. The staff complained about drying times and "burned up the motor" in one year. Although still not officially a "commercial" solution this heat pump dryer is far more robust and (with the speed mode) dries in reasonable time. It does have a secondary filter that must be cleaned every 5 or so loads (easy to do). The staff really likes this dryer and the load-and-go feature of the washer it is stacked with.

• I have had this dryer for just over a year (warranty ended) and of course an issue begins. Before I get into that, just a few general comments on this dryer. First, it does take considerably longer to dry clothes but uses less electricity. It does however put a lot of humidity into the air meaning moisture on the windows in winter and extra warmth in the summer. It’s a bit more work than a regular dryer in that there are two filters to clean and while the lower one is recommended to be cleaned every 5 loads, doing that led to lint getting past the inner screen and stuck to the heat exchanger tubes and a musty smell so it now gets cleaned very laid and left out of the dryer so the inside can dry and not smell. And this leads me to my largest and show stopping issue had I known about it. The screen between the second filter and the inside of the dryer CANNOT be removed to allow for cleaning without essentially taking the dryer apart (screen visible in the picture below). Whirlpool recommends a professional cleaning every two years adding unnecessarily to cost of what is already a VERY expensive dryer. Now after 14 months, water is leaking out of the dryer under bottom beneath the second filter area and pooling under the dryer. The thing is perfectly level and the rear fan perfectly clean. So I either put up with water on the floor or inside my pedestal drawer every load or call a repairman who probably has no clue how to deal with a heat pump dryer. It’s an interesting dryer but poorly executed so I would avoid it in favour of a regular vented model if at all possible…something that can be easily kept clean and not need a professional to dismantle it…which could have been solved if the inner screen was removable.

• I really loved this dryer at first. It is small enough to fit stacked in my short basement and didn't need an extra vent to the outside. While it didn't always completely dry towels or bedding, it would have still been a 4-star dryer for me. Unfortunately, though, about a month ago the dryer stopped working for about half the loads I put in. The drum won't turn and the machine stops. I was able to get it working again by hand-turning the drum. Now, however, it won't start at all, even if I turn the drum myself to start it. I'm very disappointed with this and I'll be avoiding Whirlpool in the future.

• In year two with this dryer. Enormous amounts of lint, so much that despite cleaning BOTH filters after every cycle the screen behind the secondary filter has become clogged such that it takes a very long time to dry loads now. The humidity in the house when the dryer is running sky rockets, which I guess I knew going in, but its unbearably hot in the summer. Don't count on getting to use it more than once in an evening if its near any sleeping areas. I appreciate that the dryer has a much smaller footprint, but its disappointing.

• We have used this machine for two months after it was installed in our new condo. Regardless of the cycle you choose, the machine's sensor that detects whether the clothes are dry deems the cycle complete before the clothes are dry. The dryer says "END" on the display panel, but the cycle clearly hasn't ended because there is moisture dripping down the inside of the door and the clothes are wet.
