What owners say

Reviews are divided and the complaints are substantial. Several owners describe the dryer as quiet and several like the range of settings and the soft-touch controls. Against that, two owners report it failing within months of purchase, one after two months and the other losing heat after three; two describe the start button returning a soft-reset error that support could not resolve; and two say it never worked properly after delivery.

  • So my Whirlpool dryer died after only THREE years and I had to buy another so it somewhat matched the washer. Big mistake. Why do they have to keep changing the design - it gets worse each time. This one is horrible. You can't just hit the "more time" button if it's about to stop. You have to hold the reset button FOREVER for it to shut down. Then HOLD the on button. Then HOLD the start button for a few seconds. And every time I have to reset the temperature and settings that I want to use each time. I really hate this dryer. And it just has more things that can go wrong. Let's see if this lasts longer than 3 years...and btw, I probably do one load every week max! It's not heavily used.

  • It's been about a month and many loads of laundry and so far so good! Love how QUIET both machines are! All in all, we love the new washer and dryer set. The only thing we're getting used to are the soft touch controls; they are soooo easy to turn. Turning them on/off and the dials for selecting type of use can be changed by just bumping/brushing against them. If you aren't careful - maybe, you brush against the unit walking by - it's easy to change the operation selected. The system does sound to let you know something happened so you can fix/adjust as needed. Overall, we're very happy! Here's to this set lasting 19 years like the last ones!

  • I love my new dryer. It is super quiet and has a large capacity for my queen size comforter. The only small complaint that I have, is that because it has a sensor, sometimes the load isn’t completely dry when the dryer feels the cycle is complete.

  • Talk about bang for your buck! Absolutely wonderful product. Can't say anything bad about it.

  • Delivery of dryer on 7/5/25. First time use and there is already an issue. Even though the door is closed a message pops up indicating the door is open. Also, intermittently shuts off before I can start the cycle. Contacted Whirlpool and cannot get resolution. They attempted to find technician to come out but no one in my area. Wanted me to try and find someone, pay them and then ask for a reimbursement. Seriously!? Then told me I have to wait 8 days for them to keep looking for a technician even though they had just contacted me to tell me they couldn’t find anyone. I simply wanted them to deliver another dryer since it is brand new and obviously defective. It’s a brand new dryer. I don’t think I should have to have a brand new dryer “repaired”!

  • Had my dryer about a month. It looks good I’m still trying to figure out how to start it without the count down! That’s annoying and takes too long. The instruction leaflet has no clue how to make running the dryer a simple instruction. Get new writers. That’s my complaint and this needs work!

    Shar5010/16/2025 06:02 PM

  • Extremely disappointed with Whirlpool. The first dryer that was delivered had a very loud buzzing noise, so it was replaced with another by Home Depot. This one is horrible. Every time I press the start button, it says “soft reset” and I have to hold the button down while it counts down from 10. Then sometimes an hourglass pops up, and then the screen goes blank, and sometimes I have to go through the whole process again and again before the Whirlpool logo pops up and says it’s restarting. It’s absolutely ridiculous that it doesn’t start right up. We just moved and left our other Whirlpool washer and dryer set with the buyers and now I wish we had kept them and brought them to our new house. The quality has really gone down and the software on this dryer (and washer too) are horrible!

    Frustrated in ATL01/11/2026 12:00 PM

  • We purchased this dryer two months ago and it has already broken. The seal around the drum has completely come off and the service technician has to order us a new drum which is on back order. We are frustrated to say the least and this may be the last time we ever purchase a Whirlpool product. Not only is the product defective but trying to get a hold of someone in your customer service department literally took multiple days for a response until we found a corporate phone number where someone finally helped us. The whole experience has been terrible from the start.

  • Replaced our 20 year gas dryer. We purchased it at Home Depot here in Puerto Rico. Great price. We haved used on a weekly basis, and it's been great. Our first Whirlpool appliance.

    neljtorrespr07/11/2025 12:33 PM

  • I bought this a month ago and it has helped me love doing laundry again. I love the different features which gives my clothes and house so linens protected.

    Gen6712/06/2025 02:11 AM

  • This is a very good dryer! It doesn’t require a lot of cleaning. It just requires the regular cleaning of the lint screen.

    KungFuLucky707/05/2025 05:24 AM

  • Lots of drying options. Drys the clothes nicely. Bought the matching washer and had the machines stacked. Cool

    TommyV12/10/2024 04:54 PM

  • So far the units we acquired have been wonderful. Look forward to it working productively.

    OZNER Realty LLC.01/07/2026 06:51 AM

  • We bought both washer and gas dryer and they both are performing wonderfully. It was installed about two weeks ago. Only minor thing, it could have been major was the slot that was present to stop the liquid not to fall in the washer before the cycle starts, it could be great for liquid soaps but being present creates lumps in the soap dispenser. For powders, removing helped to absorb the powder better than sliding up. Other that, no issues. Very vibration and sound from the previous whirlpool machine. My old one lasted about 10 years before the filter broke and got struck. It w has better/more Options /more. No Bluetooth no wifi crap. Ordered from Costco, their delivery and install was very good. They took the old machines.

    Spedi01/30/2026 04:31 PM

  • Just received this Dryer 9 days ago. So far, all the features I have used are working great. Love the storage of the pedestal too. I look forward to using more of the features soon. Only thing I have a question about, and it has nothing to do with the Dryer Operation, is why in my area will the shippers who deliver a Whirlpool Dryer NOT INSTALL and hook up the gas line and plug in the Dryer and run it and check it out to ensure it works before they depart. Whirlpool does not even let you select INSTALL and HOOKUP the Dryer when you purchase it online.

    Tubbybear104/10/2025 07:01 AM

  • Takes forever to dry and still have to run a timed dry cycle to get clothes dried. My vent is cleared so that's not the issue. I feel like my old 13 yr old dryer worked better.

    Bob1304/26/2025 08:02 AM

  • Was not surprised that this dryer is as good as it is…my last dryer was a whirlpool duet which actually lasted 20+ years!!!! Very happy with purchase….should anything happen to my whirlpool suet washer, i dont have to do any research…whirlpool washer!!! Thank you Whirlpool! When most appliances are now made so horribly it was a wonderful surprise to get this solid….perfectly performing Whirlpool!

    Lola191503/07/2025 12:21 AM

  • I bought this Whirlpool set (washer & dryer) because my 38-year old Kenmore dryer quit on me. I still had a Whirlpool Estate heavy duty/super capacity washing machine that was 20 years old and still going strong, but I thought given its' age, I would replace it as well (I gave it to a needy family). I knew I wanted Whirlpool given how good my washing machine had done. I also wanted a set that stacked to free up room in my utility room. In addition, I needed a gas dryer which costs more but I prefer that over an electric dryer. Honestly, its taken a bit of getting used to. The washing machine "senses" the load and determines the water used based on that, but it's pretty quiet. The other thing that I was unaware of is that you have to use HE detergent which I had a hard time finding locally and ended up ordering it online. The dryer is much easier to understand and has 12 settings (i.e. normal, bedding, delicate, timed drying, etc.). It also has a wrinkle mode where if the dryer stops and you know you're not going to be able to get the laundry out immediately, the dryer will periodically restart to keep the laundry from wrinkling. What I don't like is that each of those settings has a time associated with it and you cannot change the time. For example, drying bedding might have a 2-hour time but I know it doesn't take two hours to dry bedding. The only options are to come back and check on the bedding to see if dry and then shut the machine down, or use the timed dry setting. That's the only setting you can choose less or more time. But so far, the dryer has been a good machine. It's fairly quiet and does the job although I have found I need to increase how long some things are in the dryer. Since I stacked it, I have to get a step stool to see and select the choices, but that's not a big deal. I only hope these machines last long enough to justify the cost. Numerous people have told I definitely won't get as many years out of these machines as I did the washer and dryer I replaced. That's too bad that quality has decreased that much. One last comment - I was not satisfied at all with how Home Depot handled the sale, delivery and additional hoses I needed. The delivery date was changed the day before it was to be delivered and I had to cancel another appointment I had for the new delivery day. I had purchased a discharge hose because I needed a longer one than what came with it the washer, but the installer didn't use it even though I'd given it to them so I had to rig up the longer hose with the shorter one. When I contacted Home Depot about this, the sales lady told me, "If you had been paying closer attention, ..." to which I repeated to her that I was dealing with septic backing up in my drains at the same time. Bottom line, I will not be making any future big purchases from Home Depot. The total for this washing machine and dryer set, with all the little extras they throw at you and the extended protection plan, cost me over $1,900. I think that justified Home Depot providing a little bit more assistance than they did. But as far as the washing machine and the dryer go, I'm happy with them. Fingers crossed, I haven't had any issues with them and I guess I look forward to washing and drying many loads of laundry with them.

  • I have had the dryer 1 month The dryer has not worked properly since it was delivered and installed. You need to open and firmly shut the door for a cycle to run. The only cycle that dry’s is the times cycle. Customer service was no great. They wanted me to call a service company and schedule a service call.

    John947403/14/2025 08:20 AM

  • I bought it brand new and upon arrival it never heat up. I contacted the seller and a tech visit was scheduled. After he performed some troubleshooting he indicated that the main board was bad. I requested a replacement and the seller replaced with a different model, same brand. This time it worked!

    Boricua10/26/2025 02:10 PM

  • Although the gas valve “buzzes” when the gas turns on, the dryer works great. We had a very similar dryer from Whirlpool prior to this one for 21 years. It was part of the duet series along with a front load washer. The washer finally quit, but the dryer was still working fine. We ended up replacing both. We are looking forward to hopefully another long working relationship with our new Whirlpool washer and dryer. Whirlpool said the gas valve should not be making a buzzing sound and is replacing it.

    Pat2501/29/2025 03:38 AM

  • This is a very nice dryer that has a lot of different settings that we are still trying to figure out what is the best level to have it set on. Every setting has a dryness level and some are dryer than others. As we get used to it, we are really starting to like it.

    Rural Life02/08/2025 02:37 AM

  • I bought this dryer in March 2025, in June 2025, it stopped working, not delivering heat. Fortunately, it was under warranty and there was no cost for repairs, but a new dryer shouldn't stop working so soon. Doesn't build confidence for long-term performance.

    Mr. Dryer06/09/2025 10:44 AM

  • It did not work from the first day. Every time you pushed the start button, a Soft Error message would appear, and technical support could only tell us to unplug for 30 minutes and then try again. Sending it back.
